I don’t really need a new wallet, but I’ve been thinking of getting an Esker Senate. I don’t really carry too many cards so it would be perfect for me.
Hi, I know this review is over 2 years old. I have just seen these and am drawn to the patent leather version. Your review on the magnets could have put me off buying this box wallet, until I realised if you put the cards in front facing as I always do. It's not a problem at all. Thank you for your review, I found it very helpful and am really looking forward to my new purchase. 😊
Interesting, but I’m not crazy about the sharp corners. I can see the leather wearing out prematurely at the corners. Totally agree about the demagnetization concern. I don’t want to remember the right way to insert my cards all the time.
I think that most people know that Credit cards and magnets do not mix. Why a wallet manufacturer would incorporate magnets in a wallet design defies logic. Thanks for the review!
Been carrying a Ogon Coin Dispenser wallet for my Yen coins for about a year. I was worried about the quality of the hinge and springs, but honestly, the little thing has held up great and still looks brand new. Super happy with it and how it keeps my coins from scratching my glasses in my easy access bag pockets.
I've been using my secrid wallet for three years now no problems at all even dropped it a handful of times, I was worried that the adhesive would start to peel off but still holding strong
Yup, got 2, twin and normal, does its job for quite a few years now.. Cant understand why more people dont use it... Everything else is stupid. I need atleast 10 cards with me at all time. Company credit cards, personal visa, credit, crypto, ID, Healthcare, company RFID key, etc... The small one or one showed here just cannot store enough cards for me... SECRID rocks, planning to order a fresh one. No damage yet whatsoever. Only problem with this slide out system is that cards might start to peel their top plastic films but i dont care much.
I would agree, they pioneered it, but what really impresses me is that they're continually improving the ejection mechanism. They never consider it done, I like that.
well, I have seen many box wallets to date, nothing can really catch up with my sweet Secrid. The only problem I experienced first hand is that when you drop yours on the concrete ground, the corner of the box might have sharp edges which can tear your pocket apart. I have my 2 jean's pocket layers torn out T__T great price to pay, wish that I have some handy skill to smoothen the edge a little.
I'm also a mechanical/automatic wristwatch guy, and while the possibility of magnetizing a watch on these sorts of wallets is slight, that's another reason to pass on this one for me.
I’ve been using a Tru Virtu click and slide for a good few months , I expected problems using a box wallet for the first time ( as I’ve always used a traditional leather tri fold ) but have had none, the trigger on the side is holding up well, mix of 5 embossed and flat card capacity plus 4 inside. Cash wrap similar to the ogon - clasp fastener - so no crazy magnets.
Sticky trigger, possible demagnetization and no mentioned of how long the adhesive should be expected to last? It feels like there's potential for a lot could go wrong with this design in the long term.
Seems like they tried too hard to distinguish themselves from other box wallet brands with that switch design and those magnets. A shame too, since I prefer this wallet's way of handling cash over Secrid's plastic mini-billfold and Ekster's elastic band.
No. *Red button pressed* hate these so much. I mean, only 4 cards! Why would you need a box for that? Crazy 😜 Magnets! With credit cards! What are these manufacturers thinking?
QOTD: ⚡ We've reviewed a number of box type, pop-up wallets so far. Do you have a personal preference and if so, why?
No. I hate these with a passion 🤷🏻♂️
Secrid. Have one for 5 years now and it's really good, but their new collection looks so enticing...
Nope, they are not even a wallet, IMO. More like a mini Trapper Keeper.

Did you just say "Trapper Keeper"?? Wow, that takes me back to my school days in the early 1980's! :)

There's going to be that one day when you're drunk at the bar paying for a drink. You're not going to pay attention to the direct of the magnets
And BOOM, another thing you're regret the next morning 😀

Just bought the one without magnet... with snap and coin zipper compartment.... so far I like it very much.
Very nice! That sounds like a much better combination.

Secrid is still the boss in box wallets!
I really loved my Andar Pilot, but the newest version is a step backwards in usability, even if it looks nicer.

This wallet makes more sense in Europe, we don't use swipe, it's all chip and pin or NFC, so you don't have to worry about magnets.
Yes, Europe is 15 years ahead of the US with chip and pin. Someday we’ll be able to dump the stripe
Just got mine 👍.

Great insight! Yes, makes sense that kind of drop would cause that damage!
Good, honest review. Not a fan of box wallets. This one, with all its glitches (magnets and getting stuck) has even less to like.

Ugon is the right name
Having a wallet it’s already uncomfortable now imagine having one of this in your pocket not for me

Hey man I know you already make a review on a 5.11 wallet but can you please do one on the 5.11 lockdown wallet
There is a wallet called LUCENTU from Spain, similar to bellroy. Hope you could review it. Love your work, from Spain.
The fact that we need to consciously think about how we put the cards in.. it's too much of a hassle
Nice
nice
No magnets that wallet is a no go and no price
Cards and magnets? What could possibly go wrong?
Nice review! You Amazon link doesn't work, however.
Thanks for the catch Mark, I've updated it.
👎🏼 that thing is junk! Like the videos though. Great info

It is a bit crazy, flirting with a real mess
Looks like a book, not a wallet. I'm not a fan. Bleh. 🤢
No thanks
