I remember the first time I attended a Buddy Rich concert, 52 years ago, in April of 1968. I didn't even know that music and drumming at that level was even possible. It seemed like "magic". 52 years later, I feel exactly the same way. Today there are a ton of technically-accomplished drummers, but in my opinion, Buddy was, as is often said, "one of a kind".

I too feel exactly the same way about Buddy and his music as I did so many years ago when just a young teenager. What a legacy of audios & videos he left us, to enjoy and marvel at.

@@cloudview747 Yes! Still consistently amazed with what he did, and how he did it. (I remember hearing the early albums, before I had seen Buddy live. Then, when I saw his incredible WAY of doing it, and was just blown away all over again.)

This is it. The most requested in Buddys Book. notice the way he phrases all of his solos. There is a beginning a middle part of the story and then the dynamic Buddy Rich ending. He always constructed his solos to tell that percussion story only the way he could. Audiences loved it and always respected the way he played. Like Buddy said many times when I drum I take no prisoners. to this date the greatest drummer who ever drew breath. Gene said that and today that still is the way it goes. :Louie Bellson also said that he was the man. Louie was right. Gene was right. thanks for posting greatness. Boom
