@JordanGlaubitz523 We all run snorkels which restricts air flow a bit and when we run a slip on it helps air flow, so they bring a/f ratios back near stock. If you run a full exhaust system, header pipes and all you will have to run a fuel programmer
They got great clearance and will work great with near stock sized tires, running larger mud tires they will break parts more often than other brands...just my .02
@bworm989 A snorkel kit is a must if you are hitting any kind of water and a pelican case will waterproof your efi controller which will be needed if you're doing a full exhaust
I have only ever broke 1 outer joint in over 6 years of mudding, the stock axles hold up great if you don't run a lift, we all run spring spacers for more clearance
most of us ran the hmf swamp series with no programmers. I am running a fuel controller on my new build. Lots of us run qsc primary and STM secondary clutches, a good set of snorkels and a rad relocate
20099 was the first year of the R motor, but I would look for a 2010 or newer, they have power steering, qe visco lok, 650 watt magneto, all great upgrades
@Mr27bigred I had an '07 500 and it was a great machine, great starter quad, not tons of power compared to the Rotax's but enough, They changed a few things in the new ones but haven't read any bad reviews on them they should be good, the Canam 500's have more power but needs a clutch kit to give it the kick in the low end, you would not be disapointed with either
@bworm989 27"s are good, 28"s are good only if you go with 9.5" Skinnies all around and the 29.5"s and 31"s are both excellent tires, most of our group runs 29.5"s or 31" Outlaws, we love them, A bunch of us are trying the new Outlaw 2's this spring, can't wait to get these tires in the deep skeg
We pretty much ride with 700cc and up. We had a 350 BigBear that rode with us alot and he did great...he was a great rider...the old girl finally conked out though, hopefully they find another one
@tylermulek not really, alot of the trails are just wide enough for the atv's and sxs's. A truck even heavily modyfied one would have a tough time on these trails
I'm not sure at all on that...but we have a tough time of it with 82hp 4x4 Canams running 29.5" Outlaws. But everyone has to start somewhere. Just where we ride it's very high on the difficulty scale
@snake1700grizz One of our riding buds ran all wide 30" Silverbacks, didn't really notice a huge advantage. One guy is going with all wide Outlaw 2's this spring, be interesting to see the results
@turtleryan Yes he was running the 32.5" Mamba's....he broke so many parts running them that he now runs Zillas. The 32.5"s are 70 lbs per tire not counting the rim...lol, they have the ultimate grip and tread pattern but they are just too fricken heavy!!!
The Renegade is easier to fit 29.5" or bigger tires on, but they are pretty much identical in performance as they are almost the exact same machine minus the plastics and shocks and no racks on the Gade
@harley7114 All of us run 29.5, 30 and 31" tires with no lift and no axle issues what so ever, we just run spring spacers. I ran the BRP HPG shocks and HD springs up front on my 2010 with a 3/4" pipe spacer and nothing but cranked preload in the rear. Any type of lift puts the axles at an extreme angle which really affects their strength
any quad that doesn't have their rad on the front rack can have issues with overheating....when the rad gets plugged it can't cool effectively and they overheat, the Renegades actually keep alot of the mud out of the rad with the way their front plastics are designed, but they can still plug and over heat
They are a very smooth riding tire that's a good all around performer, they do not do as well in the mud as the pure mud tires such as an outlaw or silverback, their tread spacing is too tight to really claw oput the mud and muskeg, but if you don't run crazy mud all the time they will suit you fine
Same size tires front and rear, and the Renegade and Outlander are almost identical except for the shocks, racks and plastics, just personal preference, the Renegade will have a more sporty feel and is clutched better stock
@gremda1092 I don't think you would have issues breaking stuff, but you may find yourself powering out in thicker mud, just try the 28" backs and see how she does, maybe 27" Outlaws would be good, we don't ride with many manuals so I'm not too much help...lol
The 2500# winch is perfect for that machine, you will have no problems using it without a snatch block, it's the 1500# winches that can have trouble pulling out a stuck machine
@jleighton94 The billet spring spacers are easier on everything, ball joints, a-arm bushings and axles, a bracket lift really changes the the angles on everthing, fine for pit racing but not reliable enough to be back in the bush all the time. Just my opinion though
If you don't run tall enough spring spacers or the BRP HPG front shocks you can rip out your headlights when coming down from a wheely, some guys just take them out
@bworm989 Don't know much about the Brutes, but there are far better choices out there for tires, I would go with 27" Outlaws or 28" Zillas over the Mudzillas which are heavy and don't clkean out very well, I would also hold off on the lift if you are onlky running 27 or 28" tires, as the lift will put your axles at more of an angle making them weaker.
You would be winching constantly because you would be hung up, we usually don't have anyone come out without at least 28" tires. That way they can still have abit of fun rather then winching the entire time
I'm getting a rincon 650 tomorrow that has a gear reduction 27 inch super swamper and jet kit done to it with a 2 inch lift for a steal tomorrow. Think I'll be able to hang with some of my friends sportsmans?
Great video. I remember last winter I found some thick mud here in TN. I got sucked in there and my boots on my waders were packed down in there. I had to get a ATV to pull me out...boy that was scary lol.
Not me, I would be all over a 900XP before the wildcat, haven't heard too many positive things about it so far. Hopefully Canam isn't too far out with their sport sxs
They look like a knarley tire for sure, definitely a Silverback rip off though, the Mambas are good for slow crawling cause they are so heavy the snapp driveline parts when you give 'er throttle
If they did we wouldn't be riding them...lol, I would definitely look at 2010 or newer the power steering and qe front diff are huge upgrades, just make sure the previous owner took care of it and kept up on the maintenance. They are very stout machines but they have a ton of power so a guy has to be smart on the throttle
@canukfuck Saskatchewan, 27" Outlaws would be great if you do alot of mud, if not then a 27" or 28" Zillas is a great light tire that does well in all terrain
You can never use high on a machine running 29.5" mud tires in the mud, dry trail or road only....everywhere lese is low, you can do over 50mph in low with a Canam
definitely have part 2 out this winter
Osta, you have the most bad ass mudding videos on RUclips. You guys are hardcore man, keep em' coming.
@JordanGlaubitz523 We all run snorkels which restricts air flow a bit and when we run a slip on it helps air flow, so they bring a/f ratios back near stock. If you run a full exhaust system, header pipes and all you will have to run a fuel programmer

The snorkel attaches to your air box or air box intake, so that it's the only place that draws fresh air
Yes always, my bikes are showroom clean after every ride, usually takes anywhere from 1.5-3 hours
@offroad804 Yes, I usually clean my winch rope after every ride. And try and give the winch a good cleaning after every few rides
Haven't rode with a 500 for a few years now, thanks for checking out the vids
most of us ran the hmf swamp series with no programmers. I am running a fuel controller on my new build. Lots of us run qsc primary and STM secondary clutches, a good set of snorkels and a rad relocate
@bendikad Yes everywhere except dry trail, You have to run in low with large aggressive mud tires or your belt will not last
20099 was the first year of the R motor, but I would look for a 2010 or newer, they have power steering, qe visco lok, 650 watt magneto, all great upgrades

@tylermulek not really, alot of the trails are just wide enough for the atv's and sxs's. A truck even heavily modyfied one would have a tough time on these trails
@TheMaxchart A few of us run them, they are a good tire, not as good in the thick stuff as an outlaw but a good light tire
None of our regular riding group has...the local dealer has done a few full rebuilds though
I'm not sure at all on that...but we have a tough time of it with 82hp 4x4 Canams running 29.5" Outlaws. But everyone has to start somewhere. Just where we ride it's very high on the difficulty scale
The 500 Renegade is a great machine, all the same parts as the 800's. Super reliable
I am going to run a set this winter, would be cool to try them in the nasty stuff also
@snake1700grizz One of our riding buds ran all wide 30" Silverbacks, didn't really notice a huge advantage. One guy is going with all wide Outlaw 2's this spring, be interesting to see the results

@kevink400 They are an improvement in every way, more power, stronger parts, more ground clearence and an all new stronger chasis
I Spring ordered a 146 FreeRide, can't wait for it to come in
@harley7114 All of us run 29.5, 30 and 31" tires with no lift and no axle issues what so ever, we just run spring spacers. I ran the BRP HPG shocks and HD springs up front on my 2010 with a 3/4" pipe spacer and nothing but cranked preload in the rear. Any type of lift puts the axles at an extreme angle which really affects their strength
The 850 is a nice quad, especially the 2012 H.O.'s. second only to Canam IMO. They have great power and hold up well
any quad that doesn't have their rad on the front rack can have issues with overheating....when the rad gets plugged it can't cool effectively and they overheat, the Renegades actually keep alot of the mud out of the rad with the way their front plastics are designed, but they can still plug and over heat
If I swamped it real bad and had to rebuild I would consider it, alot of guys around here are starting to mod the motors, a few running nos also
Never have got up that way, been around a lot of other places for Rally's though
They are a very smooth riding tire that's a good all around performer, they do not do as well in the mud as the pure mud tires such as an outlaw or silverback, their tread spacing is too tight to really claw oput the mud and muskeg, but if you don't run crazy mud all the time they will suit you fine
@chadman651 All of our snorkels are custom kits, either from KI Industries or from our dealer, pinespsm.com
Same size tires front and rear, and the Renegade and Outlander are almost identical except for the shocks, racks and plastics, just personal preference, the Renegade will have a more sporty feel and is clutched better stock
My first quad was a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500, great entery level atv. I have since moved up....lol
Depends how sagged out your springs are, usually 1-2"s or so
Definitely look into Maxxis Zillas, better traction than mudlites but still very light and will not rob much power
lol, We have been getting crazy amounts of snow, I bet we end up with close to 5 feet this year, going to be a wet, wet spring
@junkiefight1 Twin cylinder, like the Brutes, Canams and Polaris 850's, tons of power
Never, I have burnt out a winch tryin' though...lol, nice to have buds with ya to help you out
@gremda1092 I don't think you would have issues breaking stuff, but you may find yourself powering out in thicker mud, just try the 28" backs and see how she does, maybe 27" Outlaws would be good, we don't ride with many manuals so I'm not too much help...lol
@the86125 Most of us run Outlaws, they seem to stay ontop better in the skeg
Not yet.....been thinking about it though
If you have a good winch and some time you can get most any atv through
The Outlaw Radial, rides smooth like a stock tire and pulls very well in the mud
Sweet, we used to have a couple Brutes come out...they don't come out anymore...lol
@junkiefight1 Fenton? Nice quad....
Saskatchewan, I would love to make a quad trip out west some time
@xXMuRd3rMuLiSh4Xx They are a decent tire, but they are outperformed in the skeg by quite a few other tires, silverbacks, outlaws, mambas to name a few
My heart almost skipped a beat when that rzr almost flipped lol. You guys are crazy mudders!!
If you don't run tall enough spring spacers or the BRP HPG front shocks you can rip out your headlights when coming down from a wheely, some guys just take them out
@JacobJ5633 You bet, we run low when ever we're not on dry trail, with 29.5" or bigger tirs your belt wouldn't last very long running in high
Canam Rengade 500, or the new Outlander Xmr 650, both awesome machines
We had to leave a rzr in the bush for a week with a busted tie rod and a swamped motor. If it's just stuck we always have enough winches to get us out
You would be winching constantly because you would be hung up, we usually don't have anyone come out without at least 28" tires.
@harley7114 Not too sure, most all of us run the stock axles, you must run a lift?
Great video. I remember last winter I found some thick mud here in TN. I got sucked in there and my boots on my waders were packed down in there. I had to get a ATV to pull me out...boy that was scary lol.
Not me, I would be all over a 900XP before the wildcat, haven't heard too many positive things about it so far. Hopefully Canam isn't too far out with their sport sxs
are you running any kind of clutch kit? Throw a CV-Tech or QSC primary in there....best bolt on and go mod you can do
@VetteRacin Yup, North Central Saskatchewan, Canada
no, the biggest they come is 27". They are a good tire though, excellent rim protection and they will last forever
It's always good to know that other ppl get stuck besides me! Another truly great video!
We live in Northern Ontario. We`ve been through some good mud and water holes but nothing like what you guys go through :) Lots of fun to watch :)
Dude I rocked 28" MudBugs on my Polaris 500 for two years, they rocked, like mini Outlaws
Well said. We are from North Central Saskatchewan
@Shootman980 as in Camera rigs?
We all run a snorkel system that draws air in from much higher then stock
For sure, with some winching here and there...as long as it didn't blow up it's belt
@ARCTIC4x4CAT We love them, thye ride smooth on the trails and are a beast in the mud
That would be interesting to see, I have the same type of terrain in my area. Thinking about getting tracks.
@stefano207 Grazie amico, abbiamo un buon tempo qui in Saskatchewan, Canada
I have never thought about living in Canada, but you guys make me want to move up there.
Great video. Way to deep for my 450R...lol Winches are your friend in that stuff..lol
Yup. Sometimes muskeg can be hundreds of feet deep, up here in northern Manitoba I've seen roads disappears in a day.
Most of us run after market primary clutches and belts last for thousands of KMs
I would go and buy a Canam Outlander 650Xmr, setup and ready to go right off the showroom floor
Where was this? Looks like some pretty solid riding! There is some great riding up here in British Columbia too!
We have the best luck with Canam by far, what kind of Polaris?
the ATv at 9:50, is that a renegade 1000? love that front bumper
i like a mix, i ride stock bikes, i wont think twice taking it in up to a foot or so, but what you guys are doing is pretty cool
Love them, no other machine puts that big of smile on your face when you mash the gas :)
couple hours north of Saskatoon
snorkels for your cvt and engine to breathe when going in deep water
Man best video so far
Got can ams mudding
Got mud flying
And the great Canadian outdoors
that's crazy...definitely will be a different animal with a new QSC primary
No I haven't, bet there are some sweet spots up there
@BAMITsJACOB about 2 hrs North of Saskatoon
The arctic ca at the end was hot as hell when it hit the hole!! Smokin like a mother!!!
Personal choice, not all the trails are swamps...just smart to wear a helmet
Yes, it's the reverse limiter kicking in for safety
You can never use high on a machine running 29.5" mud tires in the mud, dry trail or road only....everywhere lese is low, you can do over 50mph in low with a Canam
I'm wondering how the engine get the air when they almost all in the water. Very awesome motors.
