We glossed over the steps needed to even get the chance to spawn this boss in our last video so I figured I would make a separate video just for them for those in need of it! Plus, I got to discover that Phase 2 changed too so there's that!
Expect more update videos soon, especially on that moonstorm and Wagstaff nonsense! Unlimited full moons?! Oh boy, that's gonna be fun! Be here tomorrow for it!

@@lucytheaxe184 only during time between finishing altars and killing boss. If you are quick and prepared I guess you can do it in 2 or 3 days, and have wereforms during bossfight. If you want to take it easy, I'd say that changing character is advised ;p

I just realized that each of the 3 phases of the celestial champion represent the tributes used to summon it!

As a solo player, looks like a complete pain in the ass.
I actually find the Champion easier without people... 😬 Less predicting who it will charge or laser!

With Maxwell who already regenerates sanity like crazy... 0_o
If you look at all the altars and look at the phases of the champoin, you'll see that each altar is a phase and that there is an enlightened crown on one of them. The other armours (to me) are shaped like a sword hilt and a chest plate with shoulder guards. This could be the complete set Beard was talking about

You'll get him one day! I know you will! Use treeguardians, the swamp, pigmen, beefalo, etc. to weaken him or campfire tank if need be! Depending on who you're playing of course!
Tanking him with 2 campfires, a marble suit and a ham bat works well for me.
Yeah, there is so much new content, but it seems impossible to get there :/

I would say the crown is good like it is. It gives you sanity ,provide light if enough sanity ,spawns gestalts when attacking and that all without durability. With armor on the crown that piece would be insanely op.
I personally really like this update so far, but I’d DEFINITELY just prefer a wall guide

Boss is cool but ı really cant see how the story will progress after this. We still dont know who them are. Are them the moon or the guardian or the shadows itself did they come already? We still know nothing.
Something with the sealed portal and more with The Ancient Archives is next most likely.
I'm excited for the new boss. But I'm definitely cheating him in. This Daisy chain is just ridiculous to actually complete in one world. I'm not having a 3000 day old single player world just to fight this boy.

I think that if the crown became an armor piece, that would be too OP, even for late game. It's basically a more powerful tam'o'shanter without durability, infinite light, and jestaults to help. That's already very OP. It doesn't need to be an armor piece too.
I am simply appealing to those looking for more, I don't really want anything much more for it either. 👍🏻
You can find Crab super easy if you just do the forgoten knowledge puzzle 1st . The pointer thing will show you its location once you found all other celestial pieces . You can also find lunar island that way

The only problem I have with the new update is that, is just another bossfight.

Which is.... nothing dpecial or worth while for the actual game itsself in my opinion.
Bosses add only so much to the game.
And in my opinion,can be ignored entierly, and still allow you to enjoy 99% of the game's content.
No argument there. The gameplay loop of DST here hasn't changed in years and everything since the lunar islands introduction have been optional.
What does Winona say when she interacts with Wagstaff?
She asks if it's really him given that she knew him on Earth as he was her boss and all.
when i will try to do all that - the moon storms will spawn directly at my base. This game proved multiple times that it hates me, and there is just no way it would have mercy
I think you should spawn it then if its near your base rollback and do it over and over till its spawned whever u like
Crown as armor would be pretty broken tbh
no because otherwise this crown is not worth all the pain and suffering. I think a 30 or 40% damage resistance would be best, at least it can protect you for a little bit of damage so the unlimited durability is not that overpowered
@@stoopochky i mean, its a utility headgear like minehat but with high sanity restoration, light and no durability or fuel requirement AND its gets you free extra damage with geshtalts. All of this is enough already
@@stoopochky armor doesn't stack in dst anyway, just use a log suit
@@holyuji Then i see no point in killing this boss as sanity and light are super easy to get - you can just use a miner hat or even moggles and eat cooked cacti, what is the point? also the help of gestals is not worth spending so much time on all this - plus it goes to the head slot so you will still fight bosses without it as a head slot armor is always better - it allows you to have a backpack or even magiluminacense which are 100X bette than any body armor. Ok, if armor doesnt stack it means that adding a small damage resistance to it is a even better option - if you dont have a log suit, then you enjoy a small damage resistance but if you do have a log suit, then it does not matter. Plus you want to always carry a backback with you for more slots, not always wear a log suit to protect you, since its a sanity restoration OVER TIME so you basically have to wear it always to get a benefit from it
I wish new structure would come, such as cold furnace, rain-immune fire pire like in SW. I like when boss drop blueprint making drop more party friendly.
Another "Missing" structure : glass-themed, ice making machine similar to SW
I really hope they will actually develop the story between the shadows/lunar war because this seems a bit off to what's happening down below in the underworld so far. Developing that would answer a lot of questions about the ancients and the forces lurking in the world and how the actual players can be a part and influence the story.
And i wasted my time for what inf energy for the gemarators and rifts? Not worth it for me ;-;
Awesome content! Say, if I want to obtain the celestial tribute with an Astral Detector without ever fighting the crab king, can I do that instead?
The Detector simply shows you where the altars are, you still have to obtain them normally. Sorry, friend, if it were that easy this video wouldn't have been as long as it was! :D
Just spam bee grenades on disposable boat near the crab and w8 it out nearby .Takes a while but not hard (just annoying . Still less annoying then 40 bunny houses for bee queen)
The hardest part is the crab king 😂😂
I'm a bit disappointed, tbh. I expected something cooler and that would add more to the lore, something that'd make the players feel accomplished after going through all that trouble... But maybe it's like you said, it's just a part of something yet to come. Also, it's kinda neat that they've put Wagstaff there.

To get the three Alters is like a long journey in itself, you need to get to the archives for the Astral Detector, then painstakingly increase your friendship level with the Hermit for the Pearl and then defeating one of the most annoying boss in DST to get the celestial tribute, having no idea why he has it at the first place and then complete the Eye of the storm twice to summon the Celestial Champion. And all for what? Just an illuminating crown? Too much work for so little loot lol. Even fuelweaver has better loot.

So now we get

If yes then I hope who them ends up being so complicated to get to the fight.

I hope the celestial set idea is correct, but then there's more and we basically did Charlie's work of defeating Them. But what would be awesome if they also made a branching patch where instead you can defeat crazy nightmare creatures, starting with the Fuelweaver, pretty much standing on the side of Them in this battle.
What does everyone say to WagStaff?

Boss fight is cool
Hey beard what can I do if my celestial altar is in a fissure far from the other two? Can I break it down and move it or is my world screwed now?
One thing i don't see anywhere on youtube is how much repeatable is this boss. Can you just socket all altars right back and fight him again and again? Or does he have a cooldown. Can 1 day long night be reset by summoning moonstorms making it full moon once more, or do you need to wait till it passes. Given that the fight only takes time, and (with enough skill) nearly no resources at all, it seems like an easy way to grind up that moon glass for cutters and axes for whole server.
And obviously with constant full moon night, why is nobody talking no light ever needed on the surface and non stop working free pig farms! With that energy, by only the cost of mere storm somewhere you don't even go, and frustrating woodie mains, you are set up for life, Charlie's no more!
(This all is what today's video is hoping to be on, friend! I just wanted to separate things!)
Mostly unrelated, but I’m just realizing, this and the whole innactive portal in the Archives, this might be leading to not just the endgame, but the end of the game. As in, an actual end goal for DST worlds besides just survives and boss fights for the sake. I mean, I don’t know how they connect yet but alsoyou don’t seem to actually get energy or anything from the lunar siphonator. Not yet anyway.
Or it could lead to something like the Forge and Gorge with how the survivors’s luck goes.
My guess is the next update will address the Archives again with the sealed portal and the 3 content update of 2021 will bring A LOT to an end, yes. Maybe not a real end but certainly this storyline.

Question - can you use bramble traps (Wormwood) against celestial champion?
The first two phases, sure, but they move around all the time so you'll have to keep bringing them back to the traps.

I didn't understand why Wagstaff is there. Does he spawn only for the storm? Isn't he a character originally from Hamlet like Wormwood?
He's pulling some stings and we aren't quite sure what they are yet. He is from Hamlet technically yes however he likely has the ability to teleport anywhere within The Constant so I wouldn't think about it in that way too much. But yes, he only spawns after the storms start for now and leaves once we defeat the new boss.
Do you have to re gather and assemble the alters every time you want to fight the champion? Like do you have to re fight crab king and dig up the altars with the detector again?

i know im late but you can use don't starve alone mod which does insane job at optimizing caves. only for local though

My friend ended up ruining my moon base on the lunar island while I was away by summoning the champion close to my base, thinking the boss was easy.
I mean, he's right but he was wrong to do that to your base without planning first... 😅
This boss is all about moving around destroying things!
I have been liking what I have been seeing personlity, updates like these for any game ever with always have people who are divided on it. as long people keep things civil, I think this will be fun when it gets released. that only if people are civil about it, I haven't really seen any heated arguments about the updated personally but there will probably be some heated ones. nice video, sorry I what you said at the start spark me to put my two cents on it. hope it's fine and i'm not being annoying
Only a handful of folk have been unnecessarily difficult in whatever "arguments" they've found themselves in about all this but as always they are simply the vocal minority. Again, I mostly said that cause I agreed with people feeling like the update felt strangely disconnected to itself somehow - like a two part-er of sorts.

I sometimes need to find something for my experiments but i always need to travel around the whole world to find it
I have a mod that does it more me with it's reveal map feature. It's the mod, Too Many Items+
You have a console command that does same thing . I dont think you can undo that though so might ruin the exploration part of the run

@@TheBeard777 walking cane hits forever as it does like 12-15 damage if im right. Also. If you remember your own light tab guide its me again
@@TheBeard777 The gestalts do damage and the walking cane doesn’t have any durability. You can hit with the cane thus infinite damage. I think that is what he meant
