This was played by the San Francisco Symphony years ago. The security guard backstage said that the greatest musical experiences he ever had were a James Brown concert and hearing this piece live.
one of the first "classical" records I listened to was one side Bela Bartok Concerto for Orchestra, and the other side Lutoslawski Concerto for Orchestra, couldn't think of a better place to start.

I hear a lot of precursor to where he goes later on in his writing. Touches of the Balkan and Eastern European composers (i.e. Bartok, Martinu). The chorale was inspired division and was not like Gorecki or Tubin in their approach to the passacaglia. Enjoyed the playfulness of the woodwind phasing as well as contrasts with the strings in rebuttals.

Hey Belanna, I REALLY admire your channels, I was wondering where you get some of these scores because it seems almost impossible to get some of them. As a composer, it would really help if you where able to lead me in the right direction or even send me a copy directly? Thanks for any response!!
Actually if you compare it to Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra there are some "intentional?" similarities, I've always thought of Lutovslowski as a bit of a musical chameleon

This guy was a brillant genius. Well balanced atonal art.
Yes Lutoslawski had balanced avant, modern + classical music together .
THANK YOU SO MUCCHH!!
My God that's the first time anyone's called me a 'wiseacre'
Además quiero expresar que tuve el honor de gozar de una muy buena relación con el Maestro Lutoslawsky.
There is so much Stravinsky in here, plus hints of Holst's the planets (if I'm not mistaken)

Filmcomposers in scifi etc steal a lot from Stravinskij and Gustav Holst but also from this composer from Polen.

777 now! I wonder who were the 14 people who did not like it.
It does not reflect the mature style of the composer

An interesting piece, but with a lot of bad ideas.
The ideas couldn't have been too bad if what resulted when he stuck 'em together was interesting.
