Laura, I wanted to express my gratitude for initiating this challenge. It was truly a delightful experience. I have enrolled in several of your courses before and you have always exceeded my expectations. Your teaching and artistic abilities are simply amazing. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you for such a lovely comment. Richie and I are always trying to better ourselves, so comments like yours make us really happy as we work on our respective crafts and skills 💓
Dear Laura. I've just come across your Creative Challenge. I love the way you present and share your art and ideas. You have such a generous spirit. I'm a fledgling 'artist' and felt very stuck. I've just watched all 5 videos in a row and feel totally inspired to get going with my own little project. Thank you so much. All the way from Northumberland, England. (love your podcasts with Richie, too).
dear Laura, because your artwork is so free-flowing and expressive, did you ever come across the issue of replicating your work in a larger scale once you liked a small piece that you made when you first got started?
I thank you most warmly, Laura. This 5-Day Creative Challenge is so much more than I thought it would be. Delightfully inspiring! Looking forward to working on this project. Thanks again for creating and sharing your art. 💕🙏🌷
Thank you so much Laura, I really really enjoyed watching you create those amazing and wonderful little paintings. ❤❤❤❤ I love every one of them. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have encouraged me to finally take one of those blank sketchbooks which were laying on the shelf for years and use it. Your are a great artist and teacher.
your work is my ultimate favorite love every stroke you make, thank you so much, I've bought one of your courses, but so excited about watching your videos, haven't started yet but slowly gathering my bits and bobs along the way.....thank you
What a joyful and beautiful excersize. I can't wait for the weekend to continue with the prompts. Thank you so much, Laura. This was a great and fun challenge ❤
Thank you for this challenge. Even as a mixed media artist, I think this is something I should add to my arsenal of techniques. I could watch you create all day. 😊🤗🇬🇧🌈
This was a great 5 day exercise to get back to my sketchbook. A good reminder to practice and not everything has to be done on a big canvas. I also like that I can do some "brainless" background pages when I don't have the energy to work on a full painting.
Thank you so much for these classes, I'm learning so much! You mentioned in this video how it takes longer to rule out the divisions than it does to make the art. I have a fix for that. For each size of sketchbook I use, I get a sheet of Dura-lar. (You can use acetate, if you already have it, just know that it's not acid-free.) Cut it to the size of the page or spread. Rule out a page in the configuration that you like, lay the sheet over the page and mark where you need the lines. Take the sheet over to a piece of foam, or a towel or something soft. Use an awl or something to pierce holes at the corners or intersections of the lines. You now have a stencil that you can lay over the pages, and pencil through the holes to mark where the tape or lines go. It may take a bit of time, but you only need to do it once for each type of spread. I really hope this helps someone, I use it often.
Good evening 🤗 Laura 🌹 Happy Easter Weekend hope you had a wonderful weekend I finally was able to finish my Day 5 pages Thank you for these prompts I really enjoyed and appreciated you do this hope you have a wonderful week ahead ☺️🌹💌🖌️🎨🦄🤗
I have enjoyed looking at your art…and this 5 day challenge has been so much fun and liberations…which has been a great leveller when then turning to more composed art. Thank you so much for all your time and sharing …feel so grateful for these videos on RUclips ( I am an absolute beginner at watercolour) ❤
@@LauraHornArt 😊😊😊sometimes have to make that leap of faith to packup many items from my craft space and Procrastination is something I am learning about.
Thank you so much for generously sharing your time, expertise and knowledge. It was a nice slow down for me to use my watercolors and acrylic inks. I usually am working with collage and acrylic paint doing abstract mixed media art.
I just discovered you from a FB ad. How wonderful your work and teaching style are. This challenge has also been super awesome. I am so inspired. Thank you so much for offering it!
Fantastic Laura. Thanks so much from one Adelaidian to another. I have just discovered you through some overseas RUclipsrs and love your work. Will sign up for your next course later in the year when it is offered again but in the meantime this has really set me up for some great ideas.
Thank you so much for this video, composition can often be overlooked in abstract art but it’s just as important in abstract as it is in other types of art
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful and truly inspiring ideas. Can’t wait to get going and experiment!! So relaxing to watch and listen to. ❤
This process and day 4 really remind me of the book "Abstract Comics" by Andreí Molotiu. It is a collection of abstract experiments both exploring and breaking the boundaries of comics. I think it is one that you would really enjoy checking out if you get a chance! I'm really enjoying this short challenge series!
Hi Laura I am loving your Tutorials. I just saw your paper palette - where do you get that from?? and is it suitable for acrylic paints as well as watercolour?? thanks Jill
Thank you Laura💚, I’ve really enjoyed this challenge and will do the exercises from start! 😃The squared sketchbook you use, what kind of paper is it and what’s the size? Hugs 🥰
Hi Pia, glad to hear that you've been enjoying the challenge! The sketchbook is made by the Hand Book Journal Company and has 200 gsm cold press paper in it. It's about 21 cm x 21 cm.
I just had this appear on my YT screen today. But I can't find any link to part one - or any other part of it come to that. I've been enjoying your videos recently and subscribed yesterday. I've also downloaded the supplies list for this {still looking for part one} - nothing there either. By the way I envy you Sibella Court's "Gypsy" I have 3 or 4 of her books but not that one.
I've managed to find the other days of this challenge now, but you might want to add links to them as day 4 was particularly hard to find for some reason. Some people less stubborn than me might just give up. Lol!
Laura, I wanted to express my gratitude for initiating this challenge. It was truly a delightful experience. I have enrolled in several of your courses before and you have always exceeded my expectations. Your teaching and artistic abilities are simply amazing. Thank you!!!!!

I think it's time for me to finally use those paint Pens I got from Hobbycraft.
Absolutely, have fun!
How do I view extended versions of your fabulous shorts, or can I?
Thank you Laura💚, I’ve really enjoyed this challenge and will do the exercises from start! 😃The squared sketchbook you use, what kind of paper is it and what’s the size? Hugs 🥰
Hi Pia, glad to hear that you've been enjoying the challenge! The sketchbook is made by the Hand Book Journal Company and has 200 gsm cold press paper in it. It's about 21 cm x 21 cm.
Hi Laura, what was the brand of the maroon? I have been looking for it and can't find it. Thank you.
Hi @dianefallon8471 it's Daniel Smith, just in case you've not found it yet 🤗 have a great day! 😊
Do you gesso your paper prior to painting, Judy?
I just had this appear on my YT screen today. But I can't find any link to part one - or any other part of it come to that. I've been enjoying your videos recently and subscribed yesterday. I've also downloaded the supplies list for this {still looking for part one} - nothing there either.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll take a look at adding those details. So happy you found the videos you needed 😊
Can you post the brand of art journal you are using please?
Hi Wendy, it's a watercolour journal made by the Handbook Journal company. It's listed in the Supply List linked in the description.
Are those warercolor or acrylic paint?
There's a bit of a mix going on - watercolour, coffee, acrylic ink, acrylic paint and acrylic paint pen!
Don’t abstract paintings still need good composition?
Yes
❤🎉❤
