Very nice! I don't do Taekwondo my self, (I do Tang Soo Do it is Korean Art too). Also, what were the forms that the older bald gentleman was doing? I saw what looked like parts of Koon Sang Koon and Pyung Ahn Oh Dan or Bassai
@jetyan that's true, there are at least two if I remember right. you don't just graduate with a high rank in TKD though usually the graduates are pursuing degrees in physical education or some type of exercise science or physiology.
@NeoTranshuman You are partially correct the pegs do make it easier to break, though it doesnt make it easy. Don't judge them from this advertisement and say they are weak, these moves are for show not practicality. I'm sure they could kick some ass if they needed to.
hi im charles, im from philippines and im a black belter of mixed martial arts and i really love taekwondo i helps me alot and do you know that many pilipino love taekwondo :D..
@jetyan Plenty of the universities in Korea offer degrees in Tae Kwon-Do. Han Zhong, Yong-In and Chosun University to name 3. They produce fantastic athletes!
@jetyan i know there is a 10th dan belt and this belt is only given to great masters. its just a honor and only a few people get it. there is no test to get the 10th dan. the tkd feorderation gives it to you. but unfortunaly i have to say that i dont know if its the 10th dan belt which he wears. but i hope i could help you and you understood my bad english :D
@NeoTranshuman The only thing the board is there for is to show that it's hitting. Also, no, a generation ago, the test for a black belt was breaking several real stone slabs with a punch/knife hand chop. And they're the real deal. (I don't think they had fancy pegs in 1960 or whenever.) Also the 'screaming before striking' is respect, and only applies in demos. You're telling the holder that you're about to kick. In actual fighting, we don't scream randomly either, buddy.
sorry but i must ask again XD That song isnt original isnt it ? have (i dont know how callet it in english so pls dont be to bad with me ^^) Cut togehter ? :P 2 songs together ? thx g
I watched a video in youtube that a specialised university school in korea actually teach tae kwon do practioners to become professor level and instructor level. No joke!
Exactly, if somebody wanted to learn a martial art to just hurt people they just should not try because martial arts is a form of defense and should not used as offence except in a situation where it cannot be avoided. I use aikido.
nice... it wuz cool when that strongest board breaker wuz breaking alot of board just in a punch and itz funny when the demo memebers that hold the board...they got scared of him of course i would get scared too xD nice vid
The last boards were marble and not wood. The point of the wood board breaking is not to show power but to demonstrate accuracy, speed and technique. If you do not hit all the way through the board will not break. The same goes if you do not hit it in the center. This becomes even more important when the boards are only held with one hand.
Why should i? There are plenty good ITF schools in my area. Mr. Rhee Ki Ha teaches in the dojang few blocks away. Simple but it gets the correct message across. This is martial arts, not some circus/hip hop wannabe. When Gen Choi establish Taekwon-do in South Korea and wrote the words in his calligraphy, he stated, this is what taekwon-do should be, strong, beautiful and meaningful.
I love grappling. They are very effective if you're fighting someone one on one. The thing I hate about striking is, you have to be blessed to have the strength and power to do a Mike Tyson type knockout which is something not everybody has. Plus, you can break a bone while grappling teaches you to break bones. Nothing is effective if you're fighting against more than one opponent. When it comes to that situation, running away or having a gun are the solutions
i knew taekwondo kicked ass, but now that i have seen it in action pfff wjowww im shocked :O defintetly joining the small cursus there is in my city :D
I love tae kwon do been doing it for a year and half I'm On my blue belt 2nd tip and I am also a brown belt in Sikaran arnis both same principle with kicks but arnis focus more on empty hand and weapon disarming why I love both and have tryed wrestling and I do that once I master Tkd :)
OK,I give credit where credit is due. 1. Nice kicks 2. Nice flexibility 3. Good coordoination 4. Why are those boards are paper thin??? Of course they will break every time, are WTF practitionners that insecure that they have to use paper thin boards?
Degree doesnt really matter these days, it sucks but in U.S. its more about money. I've seen 3rd degrees who cant do a 360 roundhouse while keeping balance
Woo, having been on demo teams before, the timing of their kicks and punches together is spectacular~
It makes me proud to wear the Taekwondo Black Belt when I see these guys preform.. Thanks for the fire in my belly.. Lovely moves - as always.
