Nice helpful video. May I suggest, however, that your table saw is just waiting to eat your fingers.
You come soooo close to the spinning blade with both right and left extremities that I was gobsmacked at your lack of concern for your fingers and right forearm. Your carelessness will get you when you least expect it. I know. I had a kickback with a 2" block of white oak which kicked back on me as I bend over behind the saw blade to pick something up from the floor. It actually wizzed through my hair missing my skin and brain bucket by millimeters. It would have lodged itself in my left temple had I not been just below the saw table top.

13.00 Why not put the screws in from the outside? You just get the ones to the right length so they don't go all the way through the wood. No need for bare screws.

@@StrahaoftheRace well, because if I decide to clamp something in the outer edge of the wood blocks, screws will just fail. Bolts will hold. I have however, been using this vise for quite awhile now and haven’t once had the bolts interfere with my work.

Good video, but it would have been best had you raised the wood pads an 1/8" or so higher, so they wouldn't sit and rub on the screw bolt and guide rods....😁

11:30 That drill bit has a slight bend in it ...

Possibly. I think it is more likely the cheap chuck that comes on this drill press. I may upgrade it someday.

I bought the 7in and havent installed it yet. I like to see how other people do theirs when I can. Do those bolts sticking out on the handle side get in the way sometimes? I was thinking when I do mine that I might try to recess the nut to the inside of the vice and use a shorter bolt.

Ok I was very interested in the title. Video done well. But for ppl new to woodworking, there’s no explanation of what you’re doing and why.
Maybe that’s by design. Maybe your channel is for advanced woodworkers. But, you could get a bigger following if you voiced your videos.

  • @joentexas

Video was way too long. Fast Forward some of the wrench work and plane work. Been there done that. And invest in a hack saw and cut those bolt flush with the nuts before someone cuts a knuckle on those sharp threads. Otherwise, good stuff. Thanks.

Not sure how I missed this comment, but I am still using the vise as is to this day. The bolts are not interfering with my work nor have I sustained any injury. I do appreciate your concern!
