  • ALL the pretty things are blooming now! Lots of roses! We have several days of rain coming so many of these blooms will get annihilated, sadly. I cut some and brought them into the house to enjoy.

Really love your garden and your roses, it gives me ideas for my tiny garden. I recently started my roses garden when I found out there's roses sellers who sell David Austin's, Kordes, Massad roses and more, they called them roses with ID. I was like oh wow! I need to get my hand on those!
I live in Malaysia, the southern side where it's hotter but with occasional heavy rain, pretty much tropical as it gets. I made a guess that my zone would be Zon 10. I was worried and sceptical that these roses which are not local breed couldn't survive in my climate. But I've seen the photos from customers who had bought the roses and they all looks healthy and gorgeous.
So I bought a few of them on March this year, Lady of Shallot, Abraham Darby, Julie Andrieu, Docteurs Massad and Mon Coeur. My Massad died when I accidentally pruned it to death, and Lady of Shallot almost faced similar threat, but it survived somehow. Beginner's mistake.
Late April, my Abraham Darby and Mon Coeur started to bloom and now I'm feeling more positive. Darby gives me many large fragrant blooms as expected from reviews I've read and it's keep budding, while Mon Coeur (Japanese bred) gives me smaller flowers which I didn't expect it at all from all the reviews. Julie Andrieu is budding now and hopefully to see the flowers in next week.
I bought another 4 roses - Minerva, Rosarium Eutersen, Casino and Don Juan. I don't have a yard but just a bit of space in my front door, which I put a little fence for the "rose garden". All my roses are in pots, and I also have to put a net over the garden to protect them from the harsh sun. I water them twice a day, and only once if it's rains, and none if it's rains all day. I fertilized the roses once every 2 weeks with compost and organic coffee fertilizer, and for blooms i just use the normal red chemical fertilizers for flowers. No special fertilizer so far. And no pest so far too.
If I can get my roses to thrive and blooms in my climate, I think others who have similar climate like mine can too! 💕

    • @nutzhazel
      @nutzhazel 3 года назад

Updates! I'm so in love with the pink and white stripes Julie Andrieu rose, it keeps budding and blooming and the tallest climber in my tiny garden now, easily at 8 ft in container. The fragrance is strong and perfumy and the bloom is large and stay long on the stems (like 2 weeks if there's no rain). Another beautiful rose is the deep red Don Juan which has a sweet fragrance and long lasting blooms as well. Now my tiny garden is full 🤣

@@nutzhazel Ilive in the tropics too and Ilove roses! I'm from Reunion Island near Mauritius. I'm a little bit frustrated here because we can't import David Austin roses and other roses in order to protect endemic plants here; this year I'm trying to order with the help of a local nursery, we'll see!

That’s the thing about roses, there is so much variety. Some of them are spring, mid summer, late summer... There’s one time bloomers and repeat bloomers. I always go for the repeat bloomers that bloom from spring to frost. Check out David Austin or Heirloom Roses websites and it will be listed on there.

24:00 - I completely agree with you, it's absolutely beautiful! Very well executed. It's quite immersive and relaxing. You guys did a fabulous job. :D
25:25 - I thoroughly enjoy the Flower Pot arrangement, and the colors are beautiful.
28:48 - That is a huge space. Everything flows perfectly. And I love the Vegetation, also following the same symmetry as the whole.
29:04 - That's similar to the wooden structure I would love to build in the backyard I'm working in, just scaled down. Everything is fantastic to look at in this video angle.
31:18 - Some expertly laid stones bordering the vegetation, instead of the wooden logs, would really make this area pop.
    34:51 - Beautiful Deck Fence.
36:22 - Wow, I'm blown away. This is actually the type of thing of would love to build, given the opportunity. It's so grandiose, which are the type of Land Art Projects I love doing. I would use all stone if I could though. And you would need a lot of rocks for that, but wow would that really anchor your already, beautiful space.
    46:06 - Beautiful Rocks.
46:50 - Majestic statue of the Primal and eloquent Fairy.
51:17 - I love that fence! That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it. I love the design, the curves of the horizontal view of the fence, and the pointed spear-like, wooden heads adorning the structural posts. Stain and clear coat would really make that pop, and protect the wood.
51:33 - The Stone Pathway leading up is well-done, and great symmetry.
1:02:19 - I like your cats, the orange one is funny. :D
Great video, thank your sharing! :D You have a beautiful space. With a 100K lbs of rocks of various sizes, I would have a 'heck-yea' day in your backyard.

If you put down granules for grub control the moles and voles will move out of your yard. Remove the food source for them and the relocate to a property that has the grubs. We put the granules down every year and no longer have a problem with the little rascals. FYI-put down chicken wire in the bottom of your raised beds before adding the soil to keep them out of there. 😊
