Lets extend the ending a bit: The MC and his new girlfriend gets married and they continue to make wonderful paintings and arts which spread joy all around the world. Akane remained single for the rest of her life as her other relationships fail one after another. At home, when she saw the MC on TV about a new art, she cries and regrets cheating on him as she realizes that she will now live alone forever. Daisuke, the villain, has lost everything on the other hand. Assuming his parents and the MC's parents are friends, they must be furious as to what they had done to our MC. Daisuke fell on the bottom of the pyramid now that everyone knows how he treated our MC horribly. He even got disowned after he refuses to apologize. He couldn't even get to a university as a result and soon became a homeless drunk. When he sees the MC on TV, he will rage as to what did he do to deserve it, why our MC became so successful than him before finally admitting to himself that he was jealous of our MC having a good time and that he felt inferior compared to him as he now has to live without anyone's support for the rest of his life.
Let’s change that a little bit. Daisuke didn’t get disowned simply for betraying Naoki. He got disowned because he betrayed Naoki, spread lies about him, emotionally abused Akane, dumped her, then attempted to destroy Naoki again. At this point, his parents question whether he will continue to make questionable decisions in the future, so they tell him to not only apologize to Naoki, but also Akane, and to do whatever work they desire for the rest of high school. He refuses, saying he doesn’t have to apologize to Naoki now things are better for him, and Akane went along with it so he owes her nothing. The result is his family disowning him and his life turning to a downward spiral. Years later, after seeing Naoki on TV and realizing he did it all out of jealousy, he finally decides to begin rebuilding his life from scratch. It takes decades, but eventually he has a family and a sufficient job, but he always wonders what could’ve been had he not betrayed his best friend. Akane, on the other hand, is emotionally traumatized by this event. Not only did she lose her boyfriend and her best friend from childhood, but she was emotionally abused and manipulated by her other best friend from childhood. As a result she becomes both fearful of developing relationships with others and obsessive with the relationships she makes, causing her to become isolated and lose the majority of relationships she makes. Eventually, she too sees Naoki on TV, and breaks down as the memories come flooding back. Near suicidal, she decides on one final desperate course of action: calling Shinomiya. She knows she can never get back together with Naoki… but maybe she doesn’t have to. Maybe, just maybe… they can simply start as friends again. After all, what more could she lose?

Akane drops out of highschool, while Daisuke ends up in the same company his father is working in the transportation business. Then Daisuke sees Naoki and Shinomiya having a fun college life with their friends. Daisuke ends up frustrated that he will not have that happy college life. Daisuke in frustration, ends up having an affair with a married woman from the company he's working. Akane ends up knowing about Daisuke having an affair. Akane decides to divorce Daisuke. Daisuke's parents end up paying Akane for compensation. Daisuke is disowned, not just for having an affair, but because his father ended up demoted because of him. Daisuke ends up far away, where he ends up as a male prostitute. Because of this, Daisuke ends up being arrested, for having sex with a 17 year old girl. He now wonders what life would've been for him, if he didn't betray Naoki or if he didn't cheat on his wife Akane. Years later, Akane being a single mother, runs a business with her 7 year old daughter. Her daughter dropped the toy she was holding. The toy was pick up by a man. When Akane saw the man, she recognizes him as her ex Naoki. Naoki doesn't recognized Akane(due to aging via stress). Shinomiya's and Naoki's children call to their dad. Shinomiya: _Naoki hurry up! Will be late for the art exhibition._ Naoki runs to his family, leaving Akane and her daughter. Akane is seen by her daughter crying. Akane seeing Naoki, brings back a lifetime of painful memories and regret. She is now asking herself, _why did I betray Naoki?_
Yeah, I would've spit on both of their faces in that restaurant. I'm well aware that I'm an insecure and self important person, but I do stand by my morals, so no way in hell I'm letting them put the blame solely on me. (I should probably embarrass them in school first before they do that to me)
Exactly, that's why it is utterly pointless to forgive your partner for cheating. If they actually loved you they never would in the first place, that's why I hate when dudes forgive their girlfriends or still are in love with them after they cheat, "but I still love her :(" don't be pathetic, grow a pair and get over it, on to bigger and better girls than the highschool thot who will end up a hooker
Betrayal hurts. Naoki really trusted his childhood friends and for them to betray him like that must have been painful for him then they had the audacity to make Naoki the villain to make his life miserable. His life got better when Shinomiya San approached him. She was always in love with Naoki but since he was dating Akane she had to hold back her feelings. She approached him at the right time and things started looking good for Naoki. I’m glad he cut ties with his fake childhood friends. The nerve of Akane wanting to get back together is so annoying. Daisuke on the other hand is a hypocrite and a narcissist who only cares about himself and after seeing Naoki and Shinomiya dating he tries to make Naoki get back together with his ex and date Shinomiya but Naoki and Shinomiya saw through him and I was happy when Shinomiya slapped Daisuke. I’m the end Naoki got revenge in his two fake childhood friends and now he has found true love. Thank you Kanon for this amazing story.
It shows the maturity Misaki has compared to Akane with how she held back her own feelings but still went out of her way to comfort Naoki when he needed it, just like he did fir her when they met as kids.
Imagine how awkward it would have been for the other kids to bump into the MC after believing all the rumors about him, and they all turned about to be lies.
That happened to me. In college, a girl claimed I was a stalker because I didn't want to be on her hook. For two years people were warning others about me and I only had two friends would believed me. By senior year, all the girl's exes were stalkers, and she even claimed my tumor surviving best friend was harassing her. Everybody started ignoring her, and everyone who ostracized me acted kinder, pretending none of them slipped a note under my door saying "get out!"
Yeah, but at least Daisuke and Akane got a slice of that karma when the truth came out that Naoki wasn't the cheater but Akane was after he and Misaki began to date. :) As they say, "karma's a bitch".

Yeah bro i also had life changing experience like that........ i wrote it down as a small story in a comment a year ago i will copy paste it here it may help some people to gain some confidence in oneself. .. When i was in my teen years i was really fat to the extend that i get fainted after doing some physical work like running , I was stated as a clumsy boy who does not do anything properly. so my grandparents and parents says to not door help them in small house works like planting vegetables,climbing small ladder to harvest pepper etc ( i am not saying that they don't love me , they all love me clearly but they don't have any confidence in me doing anything properly before even trying) because of that i started to think that i do not have single bit of talent to do anything properly , so when doing something i became very stressed because of fear of ridicule from others for not doing it properly eventually get ridiculed , so when i get chance to do small house works or studying to ride bycycle i became highly stressed and embarasse myself again....i also has an older brother who was opposite to me , has a fit body and talented at doing physical works and also not get afraid easily like me and even though he does not score high marks like me who obtain high marks through studying very hard , the marks he obtained was by just listening in the class and zero work at homev. my family and others started to compare me to my brother who was three year older than me , at first i didn't mind it then it beacame more frequent and harsh (saying things openly to me) like , study looking at your brother , you cannot do this so call your brother , you don't have talent like your brother , became more brave like your brother etc I worked so hard to get rid of all these sarcasm but everything didn't do much so i became impatient , tired and pity myself to the point to think i want die so as to escape from everything. One day at my friend house we were watching a movie. No one really ever believed in myself, my family, my so-called "friends", the adults that were around myself, etc. Even in my senior year of high school, they had labeled myself as "Most Likely to be Remembered" because I had the courage to speak out against injustice, lies, evil, and hypocrisy of other people, and it also did not help that I was later falsely charged for crimes later that year as well. What made matters even worse is that my peers ultimately saw myself as a joke, they did not see that their environment was toxic, that the adults, including my family, were toxic, they never once asked me if something was wrong in my life, they thought of myself as a joke, despite myself doing the best I can to be a good friend, and an influence in their lives and, yet, I got labeled as a criminal, useless, not worth anything, etc. What made matters worse is that where I lived had little to no good job or educational prospects, and, thanks to the corruption of that place, I never got a scholarship to a university. I could go on and on with the vast amount of things that have went wrong in my life, despite my best efforts to overcome them, but it has made me a fellow shut-in to someone that is one, as well as is also a very toxic one in their life, and the saddest part is that he, and the other people that he knew, will not acknowledge their toxic behavior in their lives, and, aside from the Creator, YAHWEH EL ELOHIM, I literally have no one to turn to in my life, and I want out of things so badly in my life. Honestly reading between the actions it did seem like Naruse was emotionally abusive to Akane. The way he spoke over her, spoke for her and seemingly made decisions for her came across like that. She isn't innocent and is selfish. She still made the decision to cheat on Naoki and string him along while hiding a secret relationship with his former best friend. If Naruse used the same methods he attempted on Shinomiya then Akane is a fool for falling for it. But I do hope she is able to escape Naruse because she doesn't deserve to live with that.
Yeah, makes me wonder what his problem with the MC was to chase after whoever was his current girlfriend as well. And I do wish ex was able to escape from him. And maybe mature a bit. Another poster mentioned above that with her personality, it was only a matter of time before someone came along and deceived her into ruining her relationship with the MC, and MC was lucky it was now rather than later, like say when they had a family.
Even if Akane does escape Daisuke, she wont escape being labelled as a traitor for betraying Naoki. Men will be wary and not trust Akane, due to cheating and portaying Naoki as the guy who cheated on her. As harsh as it is for me to say this, but no man would be willing to risk going on a relationship with Akane for fear of being betrayed. Akane only has herself to blame, for going with Daisuke in the first place

That just showed the two were never Naoki friends/GF by the fact they did this behind his back, then when caught, tried to lie and ruin his reputation to save their own, whatever he talked about it or not! Akane at least had enough shame (though not enough to shamelessly try to get back with Naoki AFTER her and Daisuke's lie on him blew back on her!) to not even SHOW her face to Naoki after that lie! Daisuke had to rub it in by PRETENDING he was the good white knight when he wasn't! So got to hope the reputation loss hurts him more then Akane! And I think it would because it looked like Akane avoided "milking the sympathy she knew she didn't deserve" while Daisuke reviled in it! So when others whisper, it would mostly be at him because he made himself the bigger target, while it would take a while for others to take note that I'm sure Naoki would have supported them if she had broke up with him properly before the two got together, but I think this was largely DAISUKE IDEA and Akane meekly went along with it because she's a weak person! Daisuke likely secretly HATED Naoki and Akane was a means to an end! Likely only caring BECAUSE Naoki cared, which would end badly for Akane when Naoki stopped caring (If she thought Daisuke was bad before! He'll get WAY worse because "now she outlived her usefulness" and he's wondering what's the point of keeping her again! Till he remembers he already SLOTED himself as her white knight and protector and it would look bad if he dumped her so easily or cheated on her and got caught, which would bring suspicion on the story he pushed Akane to tell with him on Naoki! Either way, Akane gets the ending she deserves for being so meek and weak!) I can see this tainting Akane from now on! Both outwardly if her reputation precedes her and inwardly as she can never sidestep the fact she's a cheater, liar and betrayer (BAD FRIEND and BAD GIRLFRIEND) which will shoot whatever "Confidence" she was getting from cheating on Naoki! Frankly speaking, the rush from cheating "IS NEVER WORTH IT!" But it shows Daisuke likely would never have a chance with her if it was "normal!" As it's the fucked up part of the relationship that kept it together and started it! The Magic will die the moment the diminished returns kicked in, which did IMMEDIATLY when she and Daisuke were exposed (and I wouldn't be surprised Daisuke is busy trying to pin the whole thing on HER and downplaying his role to save himself seeing how selfish he's shown himself to be! He sure was "A better catch then Naoki" it seems! I say that sarcastically in that she let go of a good catch, whatever as a BF or as a dear friend for stupid petty useless reasons, and she'll have to live in her mind with that choice which will tear her Self-esteem to shreds if the shaming at her hasn't
In the end the first girl he met when they were kids. Is the one who is truly meant for him. I'm glad that Shinomiya helped Naoki get back on his feet again. As for Akane she deserves to be rejected by Naoki this time.
My thoughts are When Daisuki came in and started trashing and bad mouthing Naoki to then asked her to date him makes me think that he did the same thing to Akane. The difference being Akane fell for it. She genuinely seemed upset when he decided to reject her. I wouldn't say she deserved to be rejected but if she wasn't able to see through the lies then she definitely didn't care enough.

As much as I love this type of story, the beginning always hurts. I gotta say I loved the VA's, they're very fitting for these 2 characters, they made the video great. Oh and those classmates trying to be heroes without knowing the full story pissed me off and if I were Naoki I woulda said some more hurtful things to the cheater. Great story, great art. I loved the 2 main characters, Shinomiya is definitely one of the best female characters. Definitely a new favorite story.
Wait, let me extend the ending : After that, Naoki and Shinomiya having a date. They finally got engaged and start with a new happy life. They even have jobs that match their hobbies. Then, what happened to Daisuke and Akane? Daisuke have to quit from school because everyone found out about Daisuke's wrongdoings, even his parents, the teachers, and the principal found out about that too. Daisuke got disowned by his parents and now he lives in poverty and gone crazy. Akane had to quit from school because everyone labeled Akane as a cheater and traitor. Akane became shut in and start crying for regret. She even getting more sad about Naoki and Shinomiya have become popular in their workplaces. And she will live alone and single forever.

I’m going, to be honest, I got cheated on two times by ex-girlfriends, and when they tried to keep me there despite dating the other man/woman, (only one tried, the other girl was just apologizing constantly about the cheating which I didn’t mind) I told her word for word “If you need to come crawling back to the person you cheated on, then why cheat in the first place? Rot in hell (her name)”
Likely believes it was a "slip up!" But no cheating isn't a "minor slip that can be so easily forgiven!" You (Saying this to the cheater) had a choice and as the guardian of the holy grail once said "You chose....poorly!"

You got framed. I couldn't survive in HIS shoes at all.
can't say for sure(cause I have been a loner who's been bullied my whole life), but if he was able to be friends with some delinquents or be really good friends with someone outside of school, then it would be more bearable for sure

NTR is the reason I have massive trust issues. Even when reading this story, I could feel nothing but anger for the Childhood friends and sadness for the MC. You may not believe this but these things are more common than we may think, it's just that there isn't a queen that's gonna save you from your emotions.
The trick to reading NTR is to turn your brain off. It's probably hard for some people who enjoy vanilla and usually attach themselves to the MC, but I guess it's easier for me since I don't attach myself like that. Some of the scenes might sting as the NTR author intended, but just think they're all drawings and you're just reading them to "do your business". Why bother putting the effort to read NTR? I mean, they have god-tier artists for some reason.
I mean I watch NTR, just those who don't show their partners or a wholesome relationship or those who are neglected by their partners. Its kind of an image constantly being put in your head, when they show a wholesome relationship at the beginning, it's like the image of Betrayal being forced into my head which I really hate.
@@knfinity2614 While they're technically NTR, the "holy land" tags them as Cheating instead if there isn't a character being miserable due to the (usually) wife's betrayal. Meanwhile, there's also Netori where the MC is the one stealing women from side characters. Some folks really dig into those despite having absolute hatred for Netorare. For me, I read them so long as the art hooks me in. I don't take betrayal too deeply since they're just drawings. Of course, betrayal will suck IRL but you gotta distinguish fiction from reality. You liking the more degenerate tags (NTR, Loli, Guro) shouldn't define who or what you are IRL. Oh, I'm not convincing you of anything. I'm just offering my idea from a different perspective.
Ohh I get you, but I just have a really active imagination and on top of that, I have trust issues. I can distinguish RL from fiction, but I can get pretty imaginative at times and sometimes it does piss off and makes me a bit emotional. I can watch Netori also but it doesn't affect me as much as NTR should since we don't get as much screentime from their partners as much as NTR does.
I would like to see a different variation of this story, where instead of a girl, the dude becomes friends with some older delinquent/yakuza type guy who not only teaches the male "friend" of MC's but also later on, introduces his sister to him as well. The yakuza/delinquent dude also later on reveals that he faced similar betrayal in the past and so he empathized with him a lot for the ordeal he went through
Damn, that is one hell of a scenario! Would love to see this put into production. Haven't seen one like that on any of the many channels I follow. @Kanon make this a future possibility, please!
And have the yakuza guy turn the traitorous bestfriend into sashimi for his new friend, who suffered betrayal😂 Yakuzas are powerful allies/friends, but makes for worst enemies(if you pissed them off)😆
When they accused naoki of cheating i would’ve said “then who did i cheat with?” Even if they had an answer i would’ve said “ask that person then. See if its true. Now who was the one cheating?”
I think it won't work if you ask them to "ask that person", the other person was probably being framed as well since you can't justify cheating and people would be like "thief won't admit he is a thief". If you want a comeback, best probably be chill with the allegation, and if you also have the energy you could also gather some evidence while finding your own happiness. I would say that Naoki is lucky. His own kindness for a mere drawing girl since he was a kid, can make a turnback and also kind of an investment for him when things started to go down.
Naoki should've used his cellphone, to take a picture or record the 2 cheating on him. Or always bring a hidden voice recorder, as insurance. If the 2 traitors voices got caught admitting to cheating on Naoki by voice recorder, then the 2 would've been screwed

I feel ya, except I didn't get betrayed by a girl, cuz I never had a girlfriend. I was betrayed by a friend whom I called brother. But it doesn't hurt anymore, I have a new best friend. Pick yourself up, sarround yourself with good people, forget about fitting in, be yourself. That's how you find real people, who will treat you kindly for who you really are 😁
Wow, that confrontation was something. The MC's reaction to seeing both Akane and Naruse in a date really hurt. Personally watching this, I felt like confronting them was the right call since keeping that secret within himself would just cause more emotional turmoil. Maybe he was also in disbelief. All in all, he just wanted to know why. And in that question he asks himself, he chooses to just confront them as it's the easiest way to confirm. That's what I love about it. He wasn't angry since he just wanted to know. He wanted to hear it from the person he thought he could trust the most. Even after Akane requests the break up, he simply accepts and even says thank you. He probably isn't satisfied with Akane's answer, but he accepts it anyway since he doesn't want to force her. He probably didn't feel any relief. In fact, he could've felt much worse. However, I think that was the only way for him to finally realize what he needed to realize and move on. I'm glad the MC found someone new who he could trust again after all that has happened to him.
Tbh, I would say the MC is really lucky here, even if he got cheated, especially if we were to look at things in the long run. A girl, as trusting and naive as her, who totally lacks the capacity to confront and talk out problems and concerns with her partner would have lead to even worse doom, later on, especially if he were to have a family with someone like her. She might have even gotten wrongly influenced by some divorced/single 30+ "independent womanist type" (that are no less in Japan), who would have pretended to be her friend, only to break up her family cause she couldn't stand her happiness. Even if things would have felt difficult, and if he would not have met the girl he was to be with later on, he would still have been far better off being cheated on in this stage of relationship, cause the hurt would have been much worse if his family and finances were also involved
Honestly woulda been happy for it to end in the art room or the roof having lunch. But it was so satisfying to see him slam dunk on his ex. Shame on her, she didn't even apologize before trying to get back together with him, and just because she wanted to get away from all the distrust and maybe because he was clearly more upbeat. Even if she didn't want to hurt him initially, she's still an untrustworthy partner. Jokes on his ex-friends, he's probably got new, better friends
I don't really think she had plans to get back together for reals. It seemed like a plan from Daisuke, why else would Daisuke come up to his girlfriend and say the MC will break up with her for his ex? It's way too fishy.
I like such eps the most. When you can learn something about it. That's why drama is necessary. To filter philosophy. While the present can hurt, you've gotta be optimistic with the future, healing with past memories.
I'll never understand how people like Akane think. She cheats on Naoki and ruins his reputation. And the first thing out of her mouth is "let's get back together". Seriously, no apology, no admitting she messed up, no asking for forgiveness, nothing. I mean, seriously, how do the brains of these people work? They think they can, literally, ruin a person's life and that same person will just say "Sure, okay, all you did was betray me, made fun of me, made me look like a cheater and an abuser. But, that doesn't matter. I'm okay with it, so let's start dating again."
@saunga1, et al, I fixed her after story because I added a bit more to the conversation, and it gives her a redeemable, and deserved, ending, and the twist on Daisuke, well, it makes this story a lot better, so don't be so hard on her because my after story explains why she did what she did to Naoki properly. Please read it, as I worked hard on making a better after story for all of the parties that are involved. No more Higehiro, Metamorphosis, Road to Kingdom, and similar no win t r a g e d y tales and t o r t u r e porn, please...I can't take that s h i t in anime, manga, other media, and real life because of a lot of similar experiences that I saw people go through, as well as had also went through, in my life.
If you don't know what the repercussions of your actions are, then you don't truly understand what you've done. Too bad, Akane. Now, not only you have to live with the fact that you betrayed Naoki, but also you betrayed the trust of your classmates and friends. But at least you're not threaten to be with Daisuke. Now just move on.
The funny thing, is I think Akane was in on Daisuke's plan of making Naoki and Shinomiya of breaking the 2 up. Akane went to get back with Naoki, but hasn't broken up with Daisuke. Meanwhile at that same time, Daisuke confronts Shinomiya, and tells bad things about Naoki and that he'll get back with his ex Akane. It seems too well planned to be a coincidence that Akane confronting Naoki to get back with him and Daisuke confronting Shinomiya were happening at the same time, in 2 different places. Also, Akane's dialogue is a ref flag. Akane: _I'll break up with Daisuke._ Seems to me, she hasn't broken up with Daisuke. Also, why does Daisuke knows that Akane is trying to get back with Naoki? In a normal break up, either the guy or the girl would say, *lets break up, I like someone else.* In this situation, Akane can even add the dialogue, _I can't stand how people have been treating us._ Plus, when a girl/guy breaks up with their boyfriend/girlfriend, they keep the person they like, anonymous. So Daisuke knowing Akane is getting back with her ex Naoki, yet he doesn't make an effort to fix his relationship with Akane. That is another red flag there. Why are the 2 doing this? If Naoki ends up betraying Shinomiya, the entire school would talk about him as a scumbag. The people in that school would forget about Akane's and Daisuke's betrayal of Naoki. At least that is what Akane and Daisuke are hoping for. Even Naoki figured out that Akane getting back with him, was all part of Daisuke's plan, when he heard Shinomiya talk about Daisuke. Too bad Naoki didn't fall for Akane's and Daisuki's plan

Naoki says Akane should direct her complain to Naoki if there's something dissatisfied her. He lterally have no problem him breaking up with Akane, but apparently she and Daisuke took the hard way, cheating on him at his back, then tell lies to the class about him being the one cheating. I wanna see this exact story told from Daisuke’s and then Akane’s perspective, like why the hell did Daisuke betray is best friend in this way? Why did Akane agree to it all? Was their relationship emotionally abusive? Did Akane break free of Daisuke only to be rejected for her earlier betrayal and for Daisuke to try and take advantage of that by going for his ex friends new girlfriend? Seems like they could make those into a part 2 and 3 and have a compelling story telling the same events from the perspective of the betrayed, the betrayer/abuser, and the betrayer/abusee
Some people just want others suffer, like they get some sort of sick satisfaction. Naoki and Daisuke were childhood friends, and supposedly Daisuke helped Naoki to date Akane, so it wasn't like Naoki took his girl. We can even see that Daisuke tried to woo the Queen Bee, so Naoki would be betrayed again. How low can this guy go?
Actually as men is attracted to beautiful women, women are attracted to influencial men (Chad and Tyrone), unless they have a foundation normally the selection is like this, problem is Chads have a lot of options, he knows he can snatch girls he wants so it's a game, a conquest. Taking other girls from other guys is a show of dominance which can make him feel good, the higher the target the better, and he have no quams disposing used inferior good for the better fresh new one knowing he can replace her anytime. It could be that he was waiting for a moment to inflict maximum hurt on his supposed friend because he was jealous that his friend found a way to be happy without him, or the change in routine made him angry because this friend considered him the best friend and then got a girlfriend and started to hangout with them. IDK, I feel like this specific scenario would be interesting and compelling if written all three ways.

While I always enjoy these type of short stories, His classmates are waaaay too gullible. The MC is an “introverted nerd” seemingly lucky enough to get a girlfriend at all and yet his classmates think he’s got the game to meet another girl and cheat? It make me chuckle whenever I think about it.
Yeah.. no kidding. Well, perhaps the MC is a bit of an unreliable narrator and isn't quite as nerdy or introverted as he thinks he is? Just outgoing enough to make the story slightly believable. But without that bit of logic, I'm in full agreement with you, the classmates should have been asking some questions rather than taking the former best friend's word for things so easily.
Man it was nice seeing Naoki getting justice for what happened. But seeing Akane suffer because of Daisuke's assholeness really rubbed me the wrong way, but she made her choice and so did Naoki. And I'm glad he and Shinomiya are together and that Daisuke got what he deserved, the slap I mean not just the loss of trust.
Childhood friends are only great in anime. My childhood friend was like a sister to me, but 4-5 months ago she told me that I'm bothering her and to never call her again. It's actually funny how much trust I had for her and how easy it is to to use a steamroller to crush it completely. I'm glad this happened, though. I asked other friends and 7 out of 9 told me the same thing. I now have 3 best friends and no acquaintances.
In my opinion, it's almost never your fault for being absent if you're at least trying to always make up for it in someway. Constantly trying inviting your loved one to dinner, or watching a movie, or going out on a date, or staying home with them, to make up for the lost time and also to spend time with them? I feel like that'd stop you from being the one at fault, constantly doing your best to make it up to them, despite how busy you can be. I might be selfish for saying this, but if your loved one doesn't want to ever take those offers, and then go on to say "they got bored" or "you never tried to spend time", you aren't the one at fault here. Even with or without the cheating they could do.
This story is soo heart touching, it literally played with my emotions. Also Naoki impressed me really much he didn't go to deep depression. Anyways great story keep it up
Hilarious that the painting at the end was of Icarus. For those who don’t know, Icarus was the son of an architect imprisoned with his father in a tower. The father helped the Minoan queen mate with a cow creating the Minotaur. The architect didn’t want his son to be in prison all his life. So he crafted his son Icarus wings from feathers from the birds nesting in the tower. He molded them to his son’s back and warned him not to fly near water or too high as the wax holding the feathers together would melt. Icarus ignored this instruction and flew too high as he loved the sensation of seeing everything. The wax melted and he fell to his death.

True, if you are being blackmailed by some other guy, I think it's best just to talk and be honest to your bf/gf earlier, that you are being blackmailed by someone rather than being scared of it. It seems Akane was dumb enough to tell Daisuke, _I'll break up with you, to get back with Naoki._ But this dialogue is unlikely, since Akane stated _I'll break up with him,_ instead of saying, _I broke up with him._ Seems to me, both Akane and Daisuke are in cohots and are planning to make Naoki a scumbag who betrayed Shinomiya. So that they can use Naoki to divert attention from them. The entire school might have treated both Akane and Daisuke so badly, that they choose Naoki as their fall guy to escape the bad press and attention
I think Akane has a chance at redemption. In the end she seemed generally regretful for her actions. Maybe this whole incident will cause her to become a better person. Daisuke on the other hand is beyond redemption. He’s a pathological lier, and a back stabber!
Akane's story definitely goes deeper. It seemed as if she was getting emotionally abused and manipulated by Daisuke. Does that excuse what she did? Absolutley not. Shinomiya flat out rejected and slapped Daisuke while Akane didn't even try to fight it. But I do agree that Akane Is somewhat of a victim as well. Hopefully she learned.
Yeah I do see a chance for her! It won't change that she betrayed Naoki then shamelessly tried to get back with him AFTER the lie got exposed in it blew back on her and Daisuke! But I noted she didn't appear in front of Naoki when the lie was going around like Daisuke to "milk the sympathy" like he did while talking down to him! Likely her doing this was her desperately wanting to run back to the safe comfort of that relationship! However it's clear Daisuke "talked her" into believing it would work out and she never once questioned him out of meek weakness and for awhile she felt guilty once caught and the lie was spread, but if not for "The treasure" that is Naoki "new girl" Shinomiya I'm sure in time as Naoki's reputation goes further and further down the drain to open bullying and Daisuke further manipulating her with the fear of being exposed! She'd have turned on him too and tried to find excuses to justify why Naoki "brought it on himself and she's not the bad guy!" In a way I see it starting a month or so AFTER this story ended with her having to watch Naoki and his new relationship from afar, while people are knowingly talking about her behind her back as HER reputation is going into the toilet! Daisuke will still be the villain as he's trying to cling to her because he himself has become unwelcomed, but I see Naoki forgiving her and saving her from Daisuke clutches! If ONLY for old times sake, making her regret betraying him even more! Hence where the redemption begins as we're shown all her attempts to improve herself! Yeah her bad reputation still remains till she graduates and gets away from it, but she graduates having at least buried the hatchet with Naoki! Time skip and she's become a better person, much better then the weak individual she was back then and things between her and Naoki are back to the level it was when they were FRIENDS before they started dating! Even better! She has moved on and runs into Daisuke again who has grown into a loser but still acts as though he still has POWER over her, only no Naoki saving her this time! She saves herself and gives Daisuke as their LAST conversation with each other a good reason HE sucked back then and now mixed in with "the her back then" as well! Showing her admission that Daisuke made the offer to betray Naoki, but it was on HER to take it or not, and she did! Didn't matter if she was meek when she did so, she still did so! Especially with Shinomiya in mind as she did what Akane points out SHE SHOULD HAVE DID WHEN HE FIRST APPROACHED HER THEN! Slap him then tell Naoki what he tried to do. I see Akane less as a bitch and more as a Weak person....likely cause I did something similar! Betraying a friend out of peer pressure and to not get bullied anymore in middle school! It only lasted a MONTH before the bullies got caught because I went too far in trying to "impress them" by leaving THREATS of jumping to him! He told the teacher and they all got rounded up! I avoided punishment because my reputation was still good so I lied shamelessly (which still guilts me to this day two decades later, and even at the time too) that I was "trying to warn him!" It only worked cause "he told the teacher he trusted me!" I don't know if he really believed me or still viewed me as a friend, but we restarted our friendship and frankly I was a HUGE butt kisser to him at the time! Largely because I had a "My god WHAT HAVE I DONE!" after that and wanted to atone! We separated in HS on good terms! But that was the First and LAST time I willingly betrayed someone in my life, and I don't EVER plan to repeat it! Frankly I'm a lucky one that I even got a CHANCE for redemption! But I never let it go to waste! It's acknowledging and working on your weakness that you find strength! Others can help, but you have to be the one to CHOSE to "do better!" And never make excuses for your betrayals and ADMIT the reasoning to those who deserve to know (Like me with my friend!) That I was a weak pathetic coward who when faced with a chance to save myself, took the option and became a bigger monster then the bullies in the hopes of never being a victim again! And a near miss of Karma I SO richly deserved made DAMN well certain I'll NEVER do that again! Not because of the avoiding punishment, but the fact I always believed bullies never suffer consequences! But what do you know, it does happen from time to time! Thing is they don't care and get worse BECAUSE their losers who don't think of the consequences till they can't ignore them easily anymore! Nice story once again. I would've had more choice words against that cheater of an ex-girlfriend, but Naoki handled the situation pretty well and got a loyal, loving girlfriend in the end.

One door closes and another door opens. I love how shinomiya and the male mc met. On the other hand, cheating is a virus. It may seem harmless at a start, but it will rob you of everything.

Its not a revenge story tho, by how naoki acted at the beginning, he is not the kind of person that would resort to revenge or the likes and all shinomiya did was to clear the misunderstansing of naoki framed as the cheater, any repercussion for akane and daisuke was not premeditated. By how the story and character develpment went, the last thing shinomiya and naoki would have in their minds is to exact revenge.
A better revenge story would be chad going in and gets Akane, does the r word to her, then chad leaves and cannot be tracked. Akane then names Natsuke as the father and makes him suffer as well by suing him for child support because she can’t trace chad.

Started dating during sophomore year and dated for 2 years. We were the perfect couple, at least that's what I thought. We were inseparable, told me she wouldn't hurt me caused she loved me for all time. Trusted each other, until I went to a trip with my family. During the trip, she was kissed by her coworker and she let it happen. She told me the truth and was devastated, she betrayed me and my trust, but I never took it out on her. Not long after, she starts dating the co worker after we broke up after trying to make it work, but couldn't. So here I am, abandoned as she is currently going out with the coworker after all she said to me
Damn! This hits close to home, since something similar happened to me. I had a girlfriend for about 8months, just to later find out that she was cheating with someone I used to call best friend. The shock on that was too grand, to the point that to this date, I have severe trust issues. It really sucks, honestly. Anyways, I am glad the MC got his happy ending

God I hate but love these, they get me so invested into the story to the point I’m actually yelling at my phone. Especially when the ex said that she had no choice I was basically the smartest I’ve ever been and said the most logical thing I sounded like one of those conspiracy theorists like you’d see on movies or shows.
To be honest, I was expecting the childhood traitors to ruin the art piece made for submission to get back at the queen bee for calling them out in the first place, seeing the distraught queen bee resolved the MC to pick up the paintbrush to make a masterpiece in one day like a secret prodigy, saying something like: "It's one thing to draw for fun, but it's another if I'm drawing for someone special to me." That or the both of them would work on the masterpiece together as a couple. That would've been cool. The original ending is okay though. I just feel like it's a little tame.

But its too late now that she not only betrayed him but made him get hated in school. She now realize it was a mistake but the damage has already been done and she'll be alone forever. It took the good karma a little while to return the favor but it saved him. He helped inspire her and turned her into the not so introverted nice type of person and over time it returned back to him

Lets extend the ending a bit:
The MC and his new girlfriend gets married and they continue to make wonderful paintings and arts which spread joy all around the world.
Akane remained single for the rest of her life as her other relationships fail one after another. At home, when she saw the MC on TV about a new art, she cries and regrets cheating on him as she realizes that she will now live alone forever.
Daisuke, the villain, has lost everything on the other hand. Assuming his parents and the MC's parents are friends, they must be furious as to what they had done to our MC. Daisuke fell on the bottom of the pyramid now that everyone knows how he treated our MC horribly. He even got disowned after he refuses to apologize. He couldn't even get to a university as a result and soon became a homeless drunk. When he sees the MC on TV, he will rage as to what did he do to deserve it, why our MC became so successful than him before finally admitting to himself that he was jealous of our MC having a good time and that he felt inferior compared to him as he now has to live without anyone's support for the rest of his life.
Let’s change that a little bit.
Daisuke didn’t get disowned simply for betraying Naoki. He got disowned because he betrayed Naoki, spread lies about him, emotionally abused Akane, dumped her, then attempted to destroy Naoki again. At this point, his parents question whether he will continue to make questionable decisions in the future, so they tell him to not only apologize to Naoki, but also Akane, and to do whatever work they desire for the rest of high school. He refuses, saying he doesn’t have to apologize to Naoki now things are better for him, and Akane went along with it so he owes her nothing. The result is his family disowning him and his life turning to a downward spiral. Years later, after seeing Naoki on TV and realizing he did it all out of jealousy, he finally decides to begin rebuilding his life from scratch. It takes decades, but eventually he has a family and a sufficient job, but he always wonders what could’ve been had he not betrayed his best friend.
Akane, on the other hand, is emotionally traumatized by this event. Not only did she lose her boyfriend and her best friend from childhood, but she was emotionally abused and manipulated by her other best friend from childhood. As a result she becomes both fearful of developing relationships with others and obsessive with the relationships she makes, causing her to become isolated and lose the majority of relationships she makes. Eventually, she too sees Naoki on TV, and breaks down as the memories come flooding back. Near suicidal, she decides on one final desperate course of action: calling Shinomiya. She knows she can never get back together with Naoki… but maybe she doesn’t have to. Maybe, just maybe… they can simply start as friends again. After all, what more could she lose?

Akane drops out of highschool, while Daisuke ends up in the same company his father is working in the transportation business. Years later, Akane being a single mother, runs a business with her 7 year old daughter. Her daughter dropped the toy she was holding. The toy was pick up by a man. When Akane saw the man, she recognizes him as her ex Naoki. Naoki doesn't recognized Akane(due to aging via stress). Shinomiya's and Naoki's children call to their dad. Shinomiya: _Naoki hurry up! Will be late for the art exhibition._ Naoki runs to his family, leaving Akane and her daughter. Akane is seen by her daughter crying. Akane seeing Naoki, brings back a lifetime of painful memories and regret. She is now asking herself, _why did I betray Naoki?_

Naoki really trusted his childhood friends and for them to betray him like that must have been painful for him then they had the audacity to make Naoki the villain to make his life miserable. His life got better when Shinomiya San approached him. She was always in love with Naoki but since he was dating Akane she had to hold back her feelings. She approached him at the right time and things started looking good for Naoki. I’m glad he cut ties with his fake childhood friends. The nerve of Akane wanting to get back together is so annoying. Daisuke on the other hand is a hypocrite and a narcissist who only cares about himself and after seeing Naoki and Shinomiya dating he tries to make Naoki get back together with his ex and date Shinomiya but Naoki and Shinomiya saw through him and I was happy when Shinomiya slapped Daisuke. I’m the end Naoki got revenge in his two fake childhood friends and now he has found true love. Thank you Kanon for this amazing story.
It shows the maturity Misaki has compared to Akane with how she held back her own feelings but still went out of her way to comfort Naoki when he needed it, just like he did fir her when they met as kids.

i don't know is it because of how immerse i was in the movie or because i was looking for a small cling of hope . I was really moved by those words and started to work very hard neglecting others to lose weight and after a year i obtained a fit large body to the point everyone asked if you are going to a gym . It still does not overcame packed body like my brother , i don't know why even though i had a inferiority complex to my brother , but that fact didn't bother me a single bit. With the confidence from physical appearence i also became more less afraid on things like being alone at night or climbing a ladder etc . Honestly reading between the actions it did seem like Naruse was emotionally abusive to Akane. The way he spoke over her, spoke for her and seemingly made decisions for her came across like that. She isn't innocent and is selfish. She still made the decision to cheat on Naoki and string him along while hiding a secret relationship with his former best friend. If Naruse used the same methods he attempted on Shinomiya then Akane is a fool for falling for it. But I do hope she is able to escape Naruse because she doesn't deserve to live with that.
Yeah, makes me wonder what his problem with the MC was to chase after whoever was his current girlfriend as well. And I do wish ex was able to escape from him. And maybe mature a bit. My thoughts are When Daisuki came in and started trashing and bad mouthing Naoki to then asked her to date him makes me think that he did the same thing to Akane. The difference being Akane fell for it. She genuinely seemed upset when he decided to reject her. I wouldn't say she deserved to be rejected but if she wasn't able to see through the lies then she definitely didn't care enough.

As much as I love this type of story, the beginning always hurts. I gotta say I loved the VA's, they're very fitting for these 2 characters, they made the video great. Oh and those classmates trying to be heroes without knowing the full story pissed me off and if I were Naoki I woulda said some more hurtful things to the cheater. Great story, great art. I loved the 2 main characters, Shinomiya is definitely one of the best female characters. Definitely a new favorite story.

NTR is the reason I have massive trust issues. Even when reading this story, I could feel nothing but anger for the Childhood friends and sadness for the MC. You may not believe this but these things are more common than we may think, it's just that there isn't a queen that's gonna save you from your emotions.
The trick to reading NTR is to turn your brain off. It's probably hard for some people who enjoy vanilla and usually attach themselves to the MC, but I guess it's easier for me since I don't attach myself like that. Some of the scenes might sting as the NTR author intended, but just think they're all drawings and you're just reading them to "do your business".
Why bother putting the effort to read NTR? I mean, they have god-tier artists for some reason.
I mean I watch NTR, just those who don't show their partners or a wholesome relationship or those who are neglected by their partners. The yakuza/delinquent dude also later on reveals that he faced similar betrayal in the past and so he empathized with him a lot for the ordeal he went through

Wow, that confrontation was something. The MC's reaction to seeing both Akane and Naruse in a date really hurt. Personally watching this, I felt like confronting them was the right call since keeping that secret within himself would just cause more emotional turmoil. Maybe he was also in disbelief. All in all, he just wanted to know why. And in that question he asks himself, he chooses to just confront them as it's the easiest way to confirm. That's what I love about it. He wasn't angry since he just wanted to know. He wanted to hear it from the person he thought he could trust the most. Even after Akane requests the break up, he simply accepts and even says thank you. He probably isn't satisfied with Akane's answer, but he accepts it anyway since he doesn't want to force her. He probably didn't feel any relief. In fact, he could've felt much worse. However, I think that was the only way for him to finally realize what he needed to realize and move on. I'm glad the MC found someone new who he could trust again after all that has happened to him.

Tbh, I would say the MC is really lucky here, even if he got cheated, especially if we were to look at things in the long run. A girl, as trusting and naive as her, who totally lacks the capacity to confront and talk out problems and concerns with her partner would have lead to even worse doom, later on, especially if he were to have a family with someone like her. She might have even gotten wrongly influenced by some divorced/single 30+ "independent womanist type" (that are no less in Japan), who would have pretended to be her friend, only to break up her family cause she couldn't stand her happiness.
Even if things would have felt difficult, and if he would not have met the girl he was to be with later on, he would still have been far better off being cheated on in this stage of relationship, cause the hurt would have been much worse if his family and finances were also involved

The funny thing, is I think Akane was in on Daisuke's plan of making Naoki and Shinomiya of breaking the 2 up. Akane went to get back with Naoki, but hasn't broken up with Daisuke. Meanwhile at that same time, Daisuke confronts Shinomiya, and tells bad things about Naoki and that he'll get back with his ex Akane. It seems too well planned to be a coincidence that Akane confronting Naoki to get back with him and Daisuke confronting Shinomiya were happening at the same time, in 2 different places. Also, Akane's dialogue is a ref flag.
Akane: _I'll break up with Daisuke._
Seems to me, she hasn't broken up with Daisuke. Also, why does Daisuke knows that Akane is trying to get back with Naoki? In a normal break up, either the guy or the girl would say, *lets break up, I like someone else.* In this situation, Akane can even add the dialogue, _I can't stand how people have been treating us._ Plus, when a girl/guy breaks up with their boyfriend/girlfriend, they keep the person they like, anonymous. So Daisuke knowing Akane is getting back with her ex Naoki, yet he doesn't make an effort to fix his relationship with Akane. That is another red flag there. Why are the 2 doing this? If Naoki ends up betraying Shinomiya, the entire school would talk about him as a scumbag. The people in that school would forget about Akane's and Daisuke's betrayal of Naoki. At least that is what Akane and Daisuke are hoping for. Even Naoki figured out that Akane getting back with him, was all part of Daisuke's plan, when he heard Shinomiya talk about Daisuke. Too bad Naoki didn't fall for Akane's and Daisuki's plan

I wanna see this exact story told from Daisuke’s and then Akane’s perspective, like why the hell did Daisuke betray is best friend in this way? Why did Akane agree to it all? Was their relationship emotionally abusive? Did Akane break free of Daisuke only to be rejected for her earlier betrayal and for Daisuke to try and take advantage of that by going for his ex friends new girlfriend? Seems like they could make those into a part 2 and 3 and have a compelling story telling the same events from the perspective of the betrayed, the betrayer/abuser, and the betrayer/abusee
Some people just want others suffer, like they get some sort of sick satisfaction. Naoki and Daisuke were childhood friends, and supposedly Daisuke helped Naoki to date Akane, so it wasn't like Naoki took his girl.
We can even see that Daisuke tried to woo the Queen Bee, so Naoki would be betrayed again. How low can this guy go?

Actually as men is attracted to beautiful women, women are attracted to influencial men (Chad and Tyrone), unless they have a foundation normally the selection is like this, problem is Chads have a lot of options, he knows he can snatch girls he wants so it's a game, a conquest. Taking other girls from other guys is a show of dominance which can make him feel good, the higher the target the better, and he have no quams disposing used inferior good for the better fresh new one knowing he can replace her anytime. It could be that he was waiting for a moment to inflict maximum hurt on his supposed friend because he was jealous that his friend found a way to be happy without him, or the change in routine made him angry because this friend considered him the best friend and then got a girlfriend and started to hangout with them. IDK, I feel like this specific scenario would be interesting and compelling if written all three ways.

While I always enjoy these type of short stories, His classmates are waaaay too gullible. The MC is an “introverted nerd” seemingly lucky enough to get a girlfriend at all and yet his classmates think he’s got the game to meet another girl and cheat? It make me chuckle whenever I think about it.
Yeah.. no kidding. Well, perhaps the MC is a bit of an unreliable narrator and isn't quite as nerdy or introverted as he thinks he is? Just outgoing enough to make the story slightly believable.
But without that bit of logic, I'm in full agreement with you, the classmates should have been asking some questions rather than taking the former best friend's word for things so easily.
Man it was nice seeing Naoki getting justice for what happened. But seeing Akane suffer because of Daisuke's assholeness really rubbed me the wrong way, but she made her choice and so did Naoki. And I'm glad he and Shinomiya are together and that Daisuke got what he deserved, the slap I mean not just the loss of trust.

Childhood friends are only great in anime. My childhood friend was like a sister to me, but 4-5 months ago she told me that I'm bothering her and to never call her again. It's actually funny how much trust I had for her and how easy it is to to use a steamroller to crush it completely. I'm glad this happened, though. I asked other friends and 7 out of 9 told me the same thing. I now have 3 best friends and no acquaintances.
Now that's the best kind of relationship; one where you both grow together and help each other become the best versions of yourselves.
In my opinion, it's almost never your fault for being absent if you're at least trying to always make up for it in someway. Constantly trying inviting your loved one to dinner, or watching a movie, or going out on a date, or staying home with them, to make up for the lost time and also to spend time with them?
I feel like that'd stop you from being the one at fault, constantly doing your best to make it up to them, despite how busy you can be. I might be selfish for saying this, but if your loved one doesn't want to ever take those offers, and then go on to say "they got bored" or "you never tried to spend time", you aren't the one at fault here.
Even with or without the cheating they could do.

The entire school might have treated both Akane and Daisuke so badly, that they choose Naoki as their fall guy to escape the bad press and attention
I think Akane has a chance at redemption. In the end she seemed generally regretful for her actions. Maybe this whole incident will cause her to become a better person. Daisuke on the other hand is beyond redemption. He’s a pathological lier, and a back stabber!
I would mind seeing a redemption story for Akane.
Akane's story definitely goes deeper. It seemed as if she was getting emotionally abused and manipulated by Daisuke. Does that excuse what she did? Absolutley not. Shinomiya flat out rejected and slapped Daisuke while Akane didn't even try to fight it. But I do agree that Akane Is somewhat of a victim as well. Hopefully she learned.
Yeah I do see a chance for her! It won't change that she betrayed Naoki then shamelessly tried to get back with him AFTER the lie got exposed in it blew back on her and Daisuke! But I noted she didn't appear in front of Naoki when the lie was going around like Daisuke to "milk the sympathy" like he did while talking down to him! Likely her doing this was her desperately wanting to run back to the safe comfort of that relationship! However it's clear Daisuke "talked her" into believing it would work out and she never once questioned him out of meek weakness and for awhile she felt guilty once caught and the lie was spread, but if not for "The treasure" that is Naoki "new girl" Shinomiya I'm sure in time as Naoki's reputation goes further and further down the drain to open bullying and Daisuke further manipulating her with the fear of being exposed! She'd have turned on him too and tried to find excuses to justify why Naoki "brought it on himself and she's not the bad guy!"
In a way I see it starting a month or so AFTER this story ended with her having to watch Naoki and his new relationship from afar, while people are knowingly talking about her behind her back as HER reputation is going into the toilet! Daisuke will still be the villain as he's trying to cling to her because he himself has become unwelcomed, but I see Naoki forgiving her and saving her from Daisuke clutches! If ONLY for old times sake, making her regret betraying him even more! Hence where the redemption begins as we're shown all her attempts to improve herself! Yeah her bad reputation still remains till she graduates and gets away from it, but she graduates having at least buried the hatchet with Naoki! Time skip and she's become a better person, much better then the weak individual she was back then and things between her and Naoki are back to the level it was when they were FRIENDS before they started dating! Even better! She has moved on and runs into Daisuke again who has grown into a loser but still acts as though he still has POWER over her, only no Naoki saving her this time! She saves herself and gives Daisuke as their LAST conversation with each other a good reason HE sucked back then and now mixed in with "the her back then" as well! Showing her admission that Daisuke made the offer to betray Naoki, but it was on HER to take it or not, and she did! Didn't matter if she was meek when she did so, she still did so! Especially with Shinomiya in mind as she did what Akane points out SHE SHOULD HAVE DID WHEN HE FIRST APPROACHED HER THEN! Slap him then tell Naoki what he tried to do.
I see Akane less as a bitch and more as a Weak person....likely cause I did something similar! Betraying a friend out of peer pressure and to not get bullied anymore in middle school! It only lasted a MONTH before the bullies got caught because I went too far in trying to "impress them" by leaving THREATS of jumping to him! He told the teacher and they all got rounded up! I avoided punishment because my reputation was still good so I lied shamelessly (which still guilts me to this day two decades later, and even at the time too) that I was "trying to warn him!" It only worked cause "he told the teacher he trusted me!" I don't know if he really believed me or still viewed me as a friend, but we restarted our friendship and frankly I was a HUGE butt kisser to him at the time! Largely because I had a "My god WHAT HAVE I DONE!" after that and wanted to atone! We separated in HS on good terms! But that was the First and LAST time I willingly betrayed someone in my life, and I don't EVER plan to repeat it! Frankly I'm a lucky one that I even got a CHANCE for redemption! But I never let it go to waste! It's acknowledging and working on your weakness that you find strength! Others can help, but you have to be the one to CHOSE to "do better!" And never make excuses for your betrayals and ADMIT the reasoning to those who deserve to know (Like me with my friend!) That I was a weak pathetic coward who when faced with a chance to save myself, took the option and became a bigger monster then the bullies in the hopes of never being a victim again! And a near miss of Karma I SO richly deserved made DAMN well certain I'll NEVER do that again! Not because of the avoiding punishment, but the fact I always believed bullies never suffer consequences! But what do you know, it does happen from time to time! Thing is they don't care and get worse BECAUSE their losers who don't think of the consequences till they can't ignore them easily anymore! While someone like myself, I can't do that, hence the punishment I got was never being able to ever with a straight face which hurts my pride that I'm a 100% good person! Nice story once again. I would've had more choice words against that cheater of an ex-girlfriend, but Naoki handled the situation pretty well and got a loyal, loving girlfriend in the end.

Its not a revenge story tho, by how naoki acted at the beginning, he is not the kind of person that would resort to revenge or the likes and all shinomiya did was to clear the misunderstansing of naoki framed as the cheater, any repercussion for akane and daisuke was not premeditated. By how the story and character develpment went, the last thing shinomiya and naoki would have in their minds is to exact revenge.
A better revenge story would be chad going in and gets Akane, does the r word to her, then chad leaves and cannot be tracked. Akane then names Natsuke as the father and makes him suffer as well by suing him for child support because she can’t trace chad.

To be honest, I was expecting the childhood traitors to ruin the art piece made for submission to get back at the queen bee for calling them out in the first place, seeing the distraught queen bee resolved the MC to pick up the paintbrush to make a masterpiece in one day like a secret prodigy, saying something like: "It's one thing to draw for fun, but it's another if I'm drawing for someone special to me." That or the both of them would work on the masterpiece together as a couple. That would've been cool.
