1. thank you for this tutorial 2. I love your personality and voice you're wonderful 3. I also love how you sing the music notes because I do the exact same thing even when I use to play violin haha
I've been learning ukulele during lockdown here in the UK and I'm loving it (the ukulele playing, not the lockdown). Thank you so much for this tutorial - I love your personality, and your voice is absolutely beautiful. I now have another song to add to my increasing repertoire. x
Yes! and you can sing as well. Well explained. If you gave us the learning objective at the beginning, to give us a sense of direction... Eujariristó polí.
Hi Briony! An F/D is basically a Dm but you add your pinky to the 3rd fret (on the last string). But you could honestly just play Dm and it would sound great too! x
Yes, an F7. And if you ever want to find out what a chord is in the future, here is a GREAT site which not only tells you all sorts of ways to play any given chord, it lets you put in what form you're making and it tells you what chord that is: ukebuddy.com/ukulele-chords
Hello, I really love your video! I am actually planning to buy a ukulele and have no idea what to buy- soprano or concert :< may I know what you used or what you'd advise me to buy? :))
hi Katie, great tutorial. i have a question re your strum pattern which is DD-UD-DD and the first 2 lines (where you have Gm, C and Dm). Did you play Gm(DD-UD) and then C(DD-UD) and then Dm(DD-UD-DD) or did you just play DD-UD-DD per chord ? sorry, but it was hard for me to tell, even after slowing it down..thanks!
hey katie i have a question... so im a uke newbie just started playing. and omg i cant strum and sing at the same time !! Everything gets just messed up, and creates this bundle of noise chaos. :D Any tips on how to fix that ? :D (Thanks :3)
Hi! That's totally normal -I had a tough time with that that starting out. Work on the strumming separately, and when you want to play it together, just do single strums instead of the whole thing while you sing. After a while of some muscle memory, you'll be able to add in the strumming in between. Just have patience for yourself -you'll get there!
Thank you for your reply, Katie! :) anyway, how long havr you been playing ukulele? Your playing is awesome and I'm getting more inspired to learn ukulele. but I still only can play chord C and F only ㅠ.ㅠ
I've had my ukulele for a few years but didn't play it regularly! That's great you've been playing -keep practicing and learning more chords -I believe in you!
Yes! I would set aside time to make sure you know the chords (replay the sections where I teach them) and feel free to slow the video down using the settings button.
It's down down up, down down up, down down (pause) up down. You play the down strums on the second syllable of "embrace" and then "shared", "you". As for the F/D I just played a Dm, actually! I think it sounds better.
Thanks for the feedback -good to know for future videos. For this one, you can adjust the speed in a chrome browser by clicking "settings" in the lower right corner of the video window and then adjusting the speed selector. Hope that helps a bit!

Yay! 💕
:)
THANK YOUUU
Haha you're welcome!
The chord is an f7
That's it! You're wonderful!
Yes, an F7. And if you ever want to find out what a chord is in the future, here is a GREAT site which not only tells you all sorts of ways to play any given chord, it lets you put in what form you're making and it tells you what chord that is: ukebuddy.com/ukulele-chords
No. F7 is 2313, while the one in the vid is 2310.
I’m really confused do you play the whole d-d-Udu-d-d in one chord or switch between chords on the same pattern
Could you do a song from hamilton?? PLEASE
Ooh I hadn't thought to do one! I'll have to go listen through for one that works acoustic. Any suggestions?
I really like your videos
please add fret position where fingertips are placed
I'm a total newbie
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I'll work on making a beginner tutorial video!
Katie Norregaard Music thank you so much!
I love this song and I'm trying to learn it :)
That's great!
Thank you so much for this video, now I can finally become a full blown Mia 2.0. What more could a girl want?
The dream!
Thank you so much!!!! It helped so much! ❤. just a question, how do I play that F/D chord?
It's a Dm but you add your pinky to the 3rd fret (on the last string). Also sometimes I just play a Dm instead because it sounds great!
Hello, I really love your video! I am actually planning to buy a ukulele and have no idea what to buy- soprano or concert :< may I know what you used or what you'd advise me to buy? :))
That's so exciting! I use a soprano (Lanakai LU-21) and really like it!
hi Katie, great tutorial. i have a question re your strum pattern which is DD-UD-DD and the first 2 lines (where you have Gm, C and Dm). Did you play Gm(DD-UD) and then C(DD-UD) and then Dm(DD-UD-DD) or did you just play DD-UD-DD per chord ? sorry, but it was hard for me to tell, even after slowing it down..thanks!

Haha there was a sneeze! That's so funny.

you're really cool, thank u :D
You're welcome!
Haha you're cute, thanks for this tutorial!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What brand is your ukulele? I really want that model :-)
In this video I used a Lanikai LU-21 (it's a soprano)!
Is there a tab for this???
I only use the chords I listed for it!
How do you play the f/d chord?
I think I actually played a D instead! Haha either one works -I prefer the D note anyway!
Sweet! Thank you
What string do you use on ukulele? :)
I use the original strings that came with my ukelele! They're a Lanikai brand :)
That's great you've been playing -keep practicing and learning more chords -I believe in you!
what ukulele is that?? this was so helpful thanks :)
It's a Lanakai LU-21!
Hi, Katie! Nice video :) Are you uke tuned in C? We own the same one and mine version is sounding completely different hahahah
Really! Yes, I'm in C-tuning (GCEA). How strange!
Katie Norregaard Music it was mine that was tuned differently, I realized five minutes after I've asked you about it hahaha sorry
Haha, not a problem! Glad you figured it out :)
Can beginners play this?
Yes! I would set aside time to make sure you know the chords (replay the sections where I teach them) and feel free to slow the video down using the settings button.
what is the strumming pattern in @1:31 ?
+Katie Norregaard Music
Down down, up down down, up down down (pause) up down
Katie Norregaard Music thanks
You're welcome!
How do you play that f/d chord?
I actually just play the Dm there!
what is the chord F/D??
Scratch that and use Dm instead! The F/D is an option, but I actually played Dm in the video.
What's the strumming pattern for the 'first embrace I shared with you' part? and what is a F over D?
It's down down up, down down up, down down (pause) up down. You play the down strums on the second syllable of "embrace" and then "shared", "you".
As for the F/D I just played a Dm, actually! I think it sounds better.
it's dm
Yeah, I played a Dm! :)
can you do it slower? you're going way too fast
Thanks for the feedback -good to know for future videos. For this one, you can adjust the speed in a chrome browser by clicking "settings" in the lower right corner of the video window and then adjusting the speed selector. Hope that helps a bit!
Katie Norregaard Music thank you so much! im just a beginner hehe
You'll get there!
Amazing! Thank you!
You're welcome!
