  • Priming the main body and chassis but this time decided to add Tamiya lacquer retarder to my primer mix. Worked out fantastic...no sandpaper finish issues...went on silk smooth!
Also got to spray some Number 5 custom color paint before having my airbrush's main needle seal give out on me!
But figured there is some good info that might help you next time you mix some primer for your next project. Enjoy!

Love your work, looking forward to seeing the clear go onto it. It`s still such a cool kit.

Hi Mark. It looks like you are painting the large top body cowl as one of your first steps. I left that step to latter and I'm glad I did as I had to modify the cowl to get it to sit down flush with the chassis and side-pods. I removed material from the underside of the 'hump' above the turbo inlet plenums as the thickness of the bodywork would not let it sit properly. Also I had interference between the two sets of exhausts and the bodywork opening so I had to reprofile the sections of the bodywork adjacent to the exhaust assembly. Maybe I did not get the location of the exhaust correct but anyway I thought it worth mentioning. Cheers, Dave.

Hi! Love your videos. What do you recommend as an airbrush for someone just starting out? Thanks

Hi Bookads...Thank you for your comment...yes while I am no expert on airbrushes...you best bet is a 0.5 needle for those car body paint sessions ...anything smaller is best suited to fine details. I did originally owned a cheap no name knockoff and simply could not get along with it. In the end I bought a Iwata HP-CR Revolution. The second I started to use it I fell in love with it...and being a 0.5 needle works perfect for cars. Anyway that's what I exclusively use...no doubt others out there but I think you wont go wrong with something like that...do check out my two videos on that airbrush...ok good luck... cheers Mark
