Hi Vikas, yes you're right, its always good to fix things and make them work as they should

I spent many Sundays in my youth over my grandparents and they had the exact same unit but theirs had a cassette deck. I always thought record player was pretty good for what it is. Theirs used to go quite loud and much louder than this on FM.

Hi Andrew. Yes the cassette version would be more useful. I'd happily give it to someone if they wanted it. No use to me & not particularly good sound quality

    The future is 8-Track 😛

Shame about the looks, but it still works lol. Doesn't that fan thing locate to the turn table and spins when playing a record to reduce vibration, wobble etc?

Hi Mike, I can't see how that thing can connect to the turntable, it remains a mystery. Not even sure it is a fan. I'd have loved this 45 years ago, but its irrelevant these days. I'd give it free to someone if they wanted it. No use to me & not very high quality

Truly hideous, Nick. Surprised you spent time on it - but *even more surprised you have no 8-track tapes!*
    (just kidding, of course)

Indeed it is. But I'd have loved it 45 years ago, preferably with a cassette recorder. I was more into reel to reel back in the 70's. Had a top of the range pioneer(rt 707) then latter high quality cassette decks , all irrelevant to me now. But I thought it was worth the effort to make it work fairly well.

@@ptronix We have a similar history - and a big thumbs up on the RT-707 unit. Beautiful deck, great performer, was at the top of my list. Chose the Akai GX230D as I managed to catch a great $ deal on it at the time. Still have it - needs work now though.
Planning to take the Sanyo to a charity shop?

@@matambale charity shop! They wouldn't know what to do with it. It needs a decent burial. The rt707 cost me £400 in 79. Worked all summer holiday from college to pay for it. I'd go as far as to say that a high quality cassette probably had better performance using metal tapes & dolby.

@@ptronix Speaking of which I've often wondered how much better reel-to-reel could have been with more modern tape formulations and noise reduction.
As to charity shops, I've seen worse on the shelves than that Sanyo...of course, they probably never sold them.
Same experience with summer jobs and hifi gear.
