4:20, Correction: D3 is required to air dodge. I know this may sound absurd as every other character would not air dodge since it will bring their hurt box to the blast zone for the first few frames, but D3 air dodge is different. When D3 air dodges to the side, he nearly stops all momentum better than jumping, making him live an extra few percents then he would normally if he just DI'd.

Check out the Dededediscord! This is something we’ve manned out before and as the comment above says, you have to air dodge to the side to live horizontally at high percents. Jumping leaves dedede in enough drift to go into the blast zone.
I believe this, he's fat/ fluffy asf for a reason.

yeah wtf was leon doing lmao. Man literally kept doing neutral getup or wake up attack and got punished the exact same way like 8 times in a row.
@@libenhagos9335 DDD covers all options. Waiting at ledge is not possible because the Gordo is about to drop so you have less time to think. Gordo covers the jump. And DDD can just react to Bowser. At least this is how it looks like

@@libenhagos9335 theres a reason that gordo alone is a top 3-arguably top 1- ledge trap in the game. Not even taking into account how active ftilt is. That combined with bowsers massive hurtbox and lack of ledge mixups, and its basically just execution on the dededes part.
He has no options. Ledge hang gets hit by gordo and can even be kill confirmed off of. Neutral getup as weve seen doesnt work too well. Roll in also gets hit by ftilt. Jump gets hit by gordo. Getup attack can *sometimes* send gordo back, but can he punished stupidly hard.
So its really just a bad situation all around. Some characters can deal with it pretty well, bowser is not one of them.

Kinda seems like leon just jumped thinking he had enough time to escape before goro became active (since goro comes out at a specific angle)

Heavy dittos are always always ALWAYS the best! Also about that Gordo ftilt ledgetrap the answer is honestly just to time your getup attack to hit the Gordo back which at least should let you trade which gives them less time to set up their next trap, and specifically with Bowser who has a massive getup attack you could straight up beat it if they misspace

Am I wrong that Leon could've drop off ledge, double-jump fair and hit the Gordo back to D3? I mean, yes, D3 could side-b and catch the Gordo, but that'd change up some timing, I'd assume, creating a new option-select situation

@@Phosypha sure, but I'm explicitly suggesting he *not* try to come back on-stage. The commentator said that Leon could jump back on-stage. I feel regrabbing ledge would be safer, given D3 down-tilt might not reach a regrabbed ledge before Leon's next option, if at all.
@@epicurioh It's possible LeoN didn't do that because it would put him at risk of getting hit by D3's dash attack, which hits ledge and hits like a truck.
@@PuppetMasterIX Oof. Yeah, that's a scary move. A potential response would be to Beefy Up-B to catch the dash attack quickly and regain neutral, with the option of just regrabbing if it seems safe in that split second. But that would be more vulnerable than a ledge jump f-air if mistimed or D3 doesn't dash attack. However, an option like my suggestion would probably be a pro's choice, as it's beating out an option in sheer fame data through reaction. It seems like that's how pros tend to play, even in last-hit scenarios (I'm thinking about Light, especially).

Wait until the last bounce for Gordo, and as it's about to hit you on stage, jump. You have immunity frames while it passes through your body and you can jump past the hammer. Alternatively, the moment it hits the floor and does it's highest bounce (the last one before it falls off stage) jump and hold shield. You'll air dodge as soon as possible and you can jump to center stage.
Edit:
Reason why you wait until the last bounce is because it'll be the highest, giving you the most time to air dodge past it (can't exactly air dodge if it's right on you, can you?)
Also, third way to handle Gordo: Get Up Attack. Whenever you hit the Gordo back it will ALWAYS target Dedede. It is NOT randomized. If you time your get up attack to hit the Gordo near the last bounce, the Dedede will (likely) forward tilt, and will be left susceptible to being hit by the Gordo. This is an especially strong option against a Dedede holding Jet Hammer, since they cannot shield.
I just got second place at a tournament because I didn't know how to deal with Gordo, thanks for taking the time to write that up.

Idk about Ultimate, but I know in Smash 4 I used to just drop from ledge and u-air gordo (as falcon), mixing up the timing and options as well.
Is Bowser's f-air just too laggy/slow to do this? Or is it just a bad option in this game? Even a dogshit character at the ledge (like DK) should be able to n-air gordo or something, sure the D3 player can counter it, but at least it's a mixup option.

Great to see some heavies fight!! I gotta say, both players didn't apply some critical matchup knowledge/tools. Specifically - both these characters are the easiest 2-frames in the game, and this NEEDS to be abused.
Bowser should be going for constant 2-frames with lingering UpB at ledge. Stand right at ledge, hit upb sometime before Dedede UpBs, ez 2-frame for free. Just need to watch for the UpB onstage, which is super telegraphed.
D3will didn't mix up ledgeguarding options - which worked when Leo just facerolled into 4 straight Ugordo traps, sure. But Bowser is one of the easiest 2-frames in the game (just dtilt/dash atk). Will changed up his playstyle a lot by the end - less constant rolls back and forth - but kept Nairing onto Bowser shield. Inhale would've done wonders for him too.
Anyways great to see at Glitch, more more dedede matches please :)

@@peterchou5370 I'm a Bowser main and I do it all the time , you just need to time it correctly, and there's plenty of time to do it. But yeah, the spike when regrab is a possibility.
Dash attack from DDD kills mad early then lmao it's super easy to react to with a DDD with a brain
nope, this gives DDD free dash attack on your regrab which will kill you super early (ddd main)
Leon should be dropping down and going under stage to other ledge

@@CJT49 I disagree with it being way better for Bowser. Gordo stuffs out jumps very well as well as fair and inhale is super good to call out spot dodges and shield when the Bowser plays more grounded. Bowser's best tool to knock Gordo back is reverse up tilt which is super inconsistent and Bowser gets hit quite a bit when doing so. Granted he does have better mobility and is overall better in neut but imo it's very close. DDD's ledge trapping is much better than Bowser's but Bowser's is still amazing in the mu
@@CJT49 nair does not work well I know cause I use it all the time at best it's inconsistent and most of the time it hits Bowser or trades. Shielding it is super easy as DDD to and Gordo doesn't do much shield damage so they can keep doing that over and over. He can also jus use inhale to send it back to him. Leon has literally beat atomsk prob the best DDD in the world he has mu exp.

@@sahlaysta3399 that's true but using shield in ledge trapping is pretty common and the risk reward ratio is highly skewed in DDD's favor. Best case scenario you get like 30 percent worst care you die at any percent as Bowser lol. Like I said it'll be good for like one or a couple interactions it's jus not a good consistent way to get out
