Hiya, I have to actually tell you that there is ALOT of support in Rhyl for homeless people, including somewhere every day to get a free or £1 meal, substance use services, the Salvation Army and multiple church and charity organisations that'll provide help including tents, sleeping bags and support. The council also have moved ALOT of people out of B&B's into leased accommodation, where people can have more of their own space and work with alot of people to help them move into supported or independent accommodation. Alot of people still come to Rhyl in Summer.
@@Dan23_7 The monarail 😁 That was like the equivalent of a helicopter ride around the resort 😎 And the coin operated sun beds for the full Barbados in Wales effect 🥴
There's no prom at the moment because they're actually being proactive about protecting the town from rising sea levels. I can understand people being upset about all the work going on on the seafront, but it is future proofing the safety of the town. I have lived in Rhyl, and without doubt, it has its problems, but nevertheless, it can be a lovely place to live. The beaches (when they are open, admittedly, but they will be again) are glorious - the views towards the west are stunning and the area around Horton's Nose is very beautiful and teeming with wildlife. The Marine Lake is also a lovely place to walk around. I live in Harrogate now (known as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK - very pleasant) but it truly would not upset me to live in Rhyl again as I found people very friendly as well as all the above assets. A town relies on its council to maintain and improve it, but it does also require pride and input from its residents - Rhyl gets knocked on a regular basis and I hate to see/read it. I wish people would realise how lucky they are to have that glorious Welsh coast on their doorstep. (Very good belly busting fish and chips as well!)
Rhyl was the location for Wale's first private member's cannabis club and medical cannabis dispensary owned and operated by Jeff Ditchfield and named the "Beggars Belief".
Jeff took the cannabis issue very seriously. Much more than a potheads pipedream. He met with all sorts of experts who were studying the medical uses of cannabis. He appeared on TV a number of times. He supplied children with cannabis oil to treat their cancer and epilepsy. He was a great person and a good friend.
My auntie moved to Rhyl about 45 year ago when it was a nice place to live . About a mile from the train station in the opposite direction to the beach . Moved back away after about 10 year 😂
