I am glad you tried these. They really surprised me and seem like a great value for what you get. I got the Ride 7 for $60 this summer. I still like the NB Beacon most right now. Thanks for the review.
It always goes in spurts. If you compare me to a family vlogger who loves Disney, right around the big family trip to Disney world, there would be a lot of videos about Disney. Getting ready for the trip. Planning the days. Being at Disney. And then, after that, there would be other “regular” programming. It’s a bit like that here. Although this year is a bit different.
I loved the 7’s last year. I also love the Razor 3 for tempo runs between half-marathon to 10K pace. The uppers are 👎🏻 but I’ve found the ride to be superior to the Adidas Adizero 4.
Thanks for another thorough review! I'm looking for a long run/marathon shoe for Houston Marathon (my first) and have been considering GRR8. Right now it will be Hoka Rincon unless I find something else. What do you think of GRR8 vs Clifton 6 for approx 4 hour marathon pace (hoping for at least 3:59 :-) ) ? I'm a heavier runner at 5'10" 185lb and a little older at 50, so looking for something that gives me some protection.
The Rincon is much lighter, and is good when relatively new (when still under about 150km of mileage). But after that... I don't know, the last time I wore my Rincon for a 20mile run it feels dead after mile 15. Mine is over 300km of mileage though. I've run a marathon in the razor 3, and hyperburst holds up well over the distance. So, IMHO, if your rincon is still new (say about 100km of usage), I'd say go with Rincon. But the Ride 8 should be a safer bet although heavier. In terms of cushioning and protection they're relatively the same.
i think either the grr8 or the clifton 6 will suit you well. i think you might be slightly happier in the clifton, as there is a bit more room in the toe box that could be beneficial in the later miles.

Some new entries may be bad, it would be good to see an old iteration among the 'new kids on the block' ;)
The problem with ranking old shoes with new shoes is that it’s not information you can do anything with. If I tell you the Pegasus 33 shield is one of the best winter shoes I’ve ever run in, what does it matter of you can’t ever run in it in 2020?
@@kofuzi true, but such comparison would give a wider perspective. It would look like a true ranking based on features, not limited by time. Sure, some models will be long gone, but in other case it would be just a previous iteration. This way I went for the ZF Flyknit and the Nimbus 19 too.
The other thing to consider is the nostalgia factor. Was the peg 33 shield really that much better? Or so I just recall it favorably because I loved the design and it was my first winter shoe? See also, Hoka fans and how they talk about the Clifton 1 OG vs the Clifton 1 rerelease
@@kofuzi You are right. That kind of comparison would need to rely on fresh memory, before the nostalgia kicks in. That means a 1 year back is a max. Ps. I just forget you are a normal human being, living in an apartment, not warehouse. ;) Old shoes must go, leaving a good memory or bad. Well, I wish you all bunch of good shoes so you would've a problem pick a best one. :-)
Would you consider it a contender for the shoe of the year in warmer weather where the foam performs away from near freezing temps? 🧐 Maybe some treadmill miles with two other shoes you’re familiar with to use as positive and negative controls? 🤓 Temperature has always been a concern of mine since my area currently fluctuates 10-30 degrees (30s to 60s for example). I’ve been noticing a difference in my shoe performance (Zoom Fly Flyknit for example) when compared to 70-100+ degree runs.
i've run in these shoes on the treadmill i think if you can perceive differences at those temps and that there would be enough variability across shoes and temps, i would suggest starting a channel and making some videos. i've not seen anything like that.
kofuzi So they don’t seem to have more squish at say 100 degrees than at 20-30? Maybe what I perceive is overall feeling in my body since I may be more tense in the cold and a bit looser when it’s warmer? I’m just passing on my hypotheses (more like guessing) to you who has more experience testing than my 3-5 pair rotation to get your opinion.
kofuzi Air and foam temp differences are true, yet the heat radiating from the ground onto the shoe has got to make some difference compared to the cold. Even my car or motorcycle feels different, but that may be due to the suspension temps as well. My ride does feel a bit harsher on my road bicycle in the cold. Of course this is all subjective. According to this local story, 105 air can translate to 147 on the pavement. Interesting that you missed some cushion some times, would that mean you would go for another shoe for a 20miler (although you seemed pretty happy at 19)? If so, which one would you recommend for 20miles plus trainings? In that range, how would you compare the GrR8 with 1080 v10 and Clifton 6? Thanks a lot.
The shoe has taken care of you, im super glad. I hope in your 100 miles nobody said EW A SKECHER! and you give another skecher another chance. #BREAKTHESTIGMA
i've ranted on several fora that i wish that skechers performance had instead just decided to call itself Speed or Speed (by Skechers). i find it contradictory that Skechers Performance wants to be seen as a legitimate standalone shoe company while very intentionally leveraging the skechers overall brand. i mean, would anyone buy a Steve Madden basketball shoe? or a Fisher Price motorcycle?
I know this is weird but I do not which shoe to buy next this shoe or the clifton 7? Which is more comforable and would last longer. I cannot afford both. I actually got rid of 15 pairs of old shoes in my collection. 😹
i did not run in the GRR7, but i believe that shoe did not have hyperburst, if i recall correctly. i wouldn't not be particularly interested in a skechers shoe that didn't have hyperburst in it i believe jamison michael did a review of that shoe though
Very nice video (tho your comparison of the boost models still your best work imo). Was wondering if you had any opinion on the stability of this shoe (perhaps compared to solarboost)?
the solarboost felt wider to me in terms of footprint. so in that regard, i sometimes feel like that provides more stability. on the other hand, there were some times where i felt like the foam was stiffer on the medial side in the grr8, which reminded me of the hint of stability saucony likes to inject into its shoes. neither shoe struck me though as being like a stability shoe
Kofuzi, I am looking for daily trainer running shoe? I only wore Nike shoes so far and currently have a lineup of only carbon plated Nike shoes (4%, VF FK and Next%). I worn out my Pegasus 36 and need a replacement. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated and will not be taken against you, promise :)
I like 1080 for recovery paces and long easy runs. I like this for easy to moderate efforts and medium to long distances. There is some overlap, but I see them differently. Like a 4 door sedan and a 4 door sedan grand touring.
@@kofuzi I'm considering the beacon, GRR8 and 1080v10. I doubt the exposed foam on the beacon would last long. Since I dont have new balance stores in my country im unable to try them before buying so will have to take your word for it. And I trust you, in all your reviews you express how you feel about anything very clearly without being biased.
@@kofuzi my priority is comfort and I'm beginner,I need for the purpose of daily trainer. I tried both of them, but grr8 was bit firmer than the 7!Over period of time, does grr8 performs well or as a beginner should go for grr7?
I was a fan of the previous model GRR7, and have in my rotation the wonderful Razor 3. For some reason, do not like the GRR8 8 , it feel clunky and a non-flowing ride for me.
I agree with you on the price but... but I guess it wouldn’t be fair if were like yeah Nike go ahead and price with your research building costs in mind etc, and not allow sketchers to do the same. I feel like if it was $99.99 they would sell more than at $120
it's not that i don't want them to make money. but it all goes back to what Skechers Performance means. they can either be skechers and leverage the brand power that presumably brings. but that brand identity is seated in value. Coming in with a shoe that costs exactly the same as the big names doesn't sound very Skechers to me. Or, they can distance themselves from the Skechers brand overall and stand on their own (which is what i have been advocating for them for a long time). in that case, i'd be fine with it being $120, like a Salomon or Brooks or New Balance or Saucony. but, it's not my company and i've never taken any courses on pricing or branding. so I hope they are selling a ton of shoes at that price because it's a good shoe. i'm just confused as to where they're going.
They have no R&D costs since the majority of it is just copied Nike design! 😂 But for real they are getting better and I too believe a running specific sub brand would be a good way to shed some negative connotation they currently carry.
I agree with the logo. I can't stand the logo with sckechers. I have avoided buying sckechers plenty of times because of the logo. It is a shame because their is a Sckechers factory outlet one block away from me.
Was at a Skechers outlet today, discovered they made a performance oriented rip off of Hoka, called the Max Cushion line or something, kinda lost respect for Skechers for like the 80th time. They copy so many people prolifically.
My favorites are the vapormax clones or the joyride clones (they are kids shoes made to look like ice cream cones, which I think may actually be more of a troll than a clone).
@@kofuzi they've been copying the higher end Nike Airmax stuff for years. They also got successfully sued by Adidas for copying the Stan Smith almost identically. Don't really know what they're gaining from all this except bad press
I think Sketchers should have named their performance brand something totally separate. I think the “Sketchers” name alone will keep a lot of people away from it. Especially at certain price points.
i wish i wish they would have called it Speed, by Skechers. or just Speed and have it as a brand owned by Skechers that is allowed to do its own thing (as it seems to do now). i'm thinking something along the lines of adidas and reebok's relationship.

i've ranted on several fora that i wish that skechers performance had instead just decided to call itself Speed or Speed (by Skechers).
i find it contradictory that Skechers Performance wants to be seen as a legitimate standalone shoe company while very intentionally leveraging the skechers overall brand.
i mean, would anyone buy a Steve Madden basketball shoe? or a Fisher Price motorcycle?
Which do u recommend between go run ride 8 or new balance beacon 2? Im so confused now
Can you help me to answer : GoRun ride 8 or Adizero boston 8 for FullMarathon ?. Thanks :)
boston 8
Can you test the New Balance 1400?
Also, I enjoy all your content!
i'm not familiar with that shoer
@@kofuzi Jami Review covered the shoe, but I wanted to hear your take on it compared to the Nike Streak 7 and AdiZero
Still looking brand new
the hyperburst is quite surprising
I know this is weird but I do not which shoe to buy next this shoe or the clifton 7? Which is more comforable and would last longer. I cannot afford both. I actually got rid of 15 pairs of old shoes in my collection. 😹
you are asking two different questions.
the clifton is more comfortable. the GRR8 lasts longer.
kofuzi okay ty I take comfortable over durability lol 😂
Is it better than Run Ride 7 (Last year model)? I think Run Ride 8 have same rubber foundation of Run Ride 7 ! 🌹👏👏👏👍. What is your option?
i did not run in the GRR7, but i believe that shoe did not have hyperburst, if i recall correctly. i wouldn't not be particularly interested in a skechers shoe that didn't have hyperburst in it
i believe jamison michael did a review of that shoe though
Beacon
Dos it feel more cushioned than saucony ride iso 2????
Cushioned? No. Does that mean the Ride Iso 2 is better? No.
What do you think about brooks transcend 6 ?
I have no experience
Hi sir, would you recommend this over Nike Pegasus 37? Just for less than 5 mile runs, I’m just starting
New to running
both would be good choices
@@kofuzi thanks a lot sir ❤️
ELITE JOGGER, where you at.
He’s gone jogging
1080V10 vs this?
I like 1080 for recovery paces and long easy runs. I like this for easy to moderate efforts and medium to long distances. There is some overlap, but I see them differently. Like a 4 door sedan and a 4 door sedan grand touring.
@@kofuzi Guess it's time to add another pair to the shoe rack... alright, thanks for the answer.
In most brands 9 us is 42.5 eur... in skechers 9.5 us is 42.5 eur... what is your size in ride 8 ???
that's strange.
i'm a size 9US in just about everything
With the passage of time the price has dropped a lot. $69.99 through Amazon.
How do you like this shoe compared to the 1080 V10?
Both great at their primary tasks
kofuzi which is softer ?
Hi, what is the best road running shoe for about £60 ($80)
thanks
The best road running shoe at that price is the best road running shoe from last year that you can find at a sale price.
Like beacon 1 or peg 35
Would these last 500km? I'm looking for a durable daily trainer.
I haven’t taken them that far, but I would suspect yes
@@kofuzi I'm considering the beacon, GRR8 and 1080v10. I doubt the exposed foam on the beacon would last long. Since I dont have new balance stores in my country im unable to try them before buying so will have to take your word for it. And I trust you, in all your reviews you express how you feel about anything very clearly without being biased.
Go run ride 7 vs grr8?which one to buy?
I would go with the 8. If I'm not mistaken, the ride 7 was not hyper burst. you want hyper burst.
@@kofuzi my priority is comfort and I'm beginner,I need for the purpose of daily trainer.
I tried both of them, but grr8 was bit firmer than the 7!Over period of time, does grr8 performs well or as a beginner should go for grr7?
Maybe not the shoe of the year
But the best cost for what you get, top 5 fosho
true to size?
yes
Disagree , they feel big especially compared to 7S .
I was a fan of the previous model GRR7, and have in my rotation the wonderful Razor 3. For some reason, do not like the GRR8 8 , it feel clunky and a non-flowing ride for me.
$130? I thought the GRR8 was $115?
$120
Running Warehouse has for $114.95.
@@wildforthecats7792 RW often sells things less than MSRP. If you look at Skecher's website, it's $120
Yes, just trying to help my man Kofuzi get a better deal. :)
Don't really know what they're gaining from all this except bad press
your cousin was right
he usually is
Just bought them for 92$
Nice
I think Sketchers should have named their performance brand something totally separate. I think the “Sketchers” name alone will keep a lot of people away from it. Especially at certain price points.
i wish i wish they would have called it Speed, by Skechers.
or just Speed and have it as a brand owned by Skechers that is allowed to do its own thing (as it seems to do now).
i'm thinking something along the lines of adidas and reebok's relationship.
