@@kofuzi I went to Sketchers store this afternoon, but couldn't not find this one or even the Skechers Burst TR Sneakers! Btw which one is better between both? Or you suggest both? Just curious...
I JUST tried the Razor 3 recently (better late than never). Dropping the vid on Sunday. It was a game changer for me when it comes to hyperburst. I'm glad you reviewed the Speed Elite. Don't think this one is for me.
Just bought a pair of the Speed Elite's and the Horizon Vanish's, and I can't wait to take them for a spin. The Razor 3's were a pleasant surprise, esp once I got over the idea of running in a pair of Skechers. Look forward to your 100 mile review!
I also did experiment using STRYD pod between speed elite, nike LT 4, hoka carbon x, LT 4 with carbon insole. Speed elite I was 8-10 seconds per kilometer and used less power.
Ok, so a long long time ago I worked for Runners World's shoe lab. I remember when Skechers first introduced their shoe designed for real runners. Maybe 2005ish? We were super skeptical as you can imagine but the shoes were actually ok. Obviously, they've stuck with it and been making solid running shoes over the past few years. No joke. . . sketchers makes solid running shoes. Well. . . I can't speak to their new stuff. I haven't tried Sketchers in a long time but that's where these Kofuzi shoe reviews come in handy 😉
Martha here-using the extra lace holes for making runner's knot would probably help with making the heel feel more secure. Personally I didn’t like the feel of Hyperburst when I tried some Sketchers in a store. There’s something too dense and mushy for me. I’m loving the Adidas Boston 8 and today my treadmill first test of the SL20 which came yesterday. Very fun balance of cushion, pop, and springy. Nice snug fit. Wish they didn’t put the stiff Adidas-labeled little fabric tab on the tongue. Beautifully designed shoe but that tab touches the front of my ankle so I’ll just cut it off.
one part of the video that i edited out was that i wondered if the hyperburst would feel better for me if i were going even faster. i think hyperburst isn't all that special just standing or walking around - it's not like boost or pwrrun in that regard. but when moving, that's when it starts to shine. i'm wondering if i didn't get moving fast enough yet.
To your question of this vs razor 3: for me, the speed elite midsole package broke in a little after a few runs and felt more on point. Def on the firmer side at first. I think it’s because the carbon plates are actually set up as more or less as parallel winglets that provide the great stability and “controls” the foam a lot. And after a few runs the plates/winglets broke in a little and to me the shoe really started working well after that. To me it’s too different to things like Vaporfly, and that’s a good thing. It’s perfect for like a 5k 10k with turns cuz they are just so stable. The razor 3 for me was the opposite, felt great at first but the hyperburst kind of got sloppy after a while to the point while it still had bounce and cushion, they felt like they were bottoming out and just too flexible which caused instability. While totally different feel than boost, in a sense speed elite vs razor is similar to when adidas correctly “control” boost, it feels much better than just a fully uncaged boost. The uncaged boost might feel more fun and approachable, but in the end the controlled boost feels better executed. My razor 3 was towards the early end of production though, and from what I could tell in the grr8 and the heel of the speed elites, I suspect skechers has indeed made hyperburst slightly firmer since that first batch.
MMABeijing in all fairness kofuzi does differentiate first run vs full review vs 100 mile reviews. Each take has its own insights and nuggets to be valued.
Yeah the idea was to make it feel more traditional feel racing shoe! Compared to the rest of the market with fat stacks heights and to much foam for some people. So nice to have an option to have that category.
Howdy. You asked about the Razor and Speed Elite comparisons. I have both. The Razor 3 has been my track/interval and tempo shoe. I really like it, although the sizing is a bit snug in a 10. I normally run 10-10.5 and at the time they only had full sizes. I went with the Speed Elite in a size 11 to use it for Tempo+ runs instead of the Razor (also only full sizes when I got it). I have two tempo runs in them so far and both runs were within seconds of a PR on the Strava segments I crossed. I didn't feel like I was pushing it at PR pace, so that's positive. I did feel a little sloppy in the heel and need to work on the lacing. The laces don't slide well, so getting the fit right takes a little time. I assume this is also because I am running a half size up. My plan is to test a few more times and get one "long run" in them (15+) before a May marathon. If they treat me well at that distance I will be racing in them. They are more stable and cushioned than a traditional marathon quality 'flat'. Also more stable and firm than the Go-Ride or Razor, so other than figuring out the fit, I think the Speed Elite will do the job. (Note: I have run marathons in everything from the Mizuno Hitogami to the Wave Rider and a favorite is still the Saucony Fastwitch 5.)
Bought them. Light, very fast. I threw some data up on my Instagram page doing 5x1k in them compared to other shoes with STRYD pod. Faster and less watts used. Amazing.
Did both of my marathons and all of my long runs last year in the Razor 3. Amazing shoes. Can’t wait for the comparison video and if Jami makes an appearance. 👍🏼
you nailed this review spot on everything you said... was going to use these for half’s but definitely going to end up being a 5-10k shoe for me which it’s really expensive to be used for that distance for me ... def a beautiful shoe though regardless. Thanks for doing these reviews!
Which would be your comfortably snap pick for a HM then (excluding Vapor Fly pls)? So happy to hear you will pick the Razor 3 (the hot-wheels of running shoes). That was one of my favorite running shoes ever, and Im looking forward to the plus edition as the drawback for me on the first version was the rubber durability and grip.
Bruno Cassettari are you asking what’s a more comfortable shoe with pop for racing Half’s? Excluding Vapor Fly I’d say the Nike Zoom Fly 3 is a really solid option. I picked some up for $108 on sale and have been crushing tempo runs in them since.
The Razor 3 is an amazing shoe, probably my all time favorite! I really like the Speed Elite as well, however I needed to return them due to sizing. I need a half size for the best fit so I returned them and will reorder once half sizes are available. You are correct, the Speed Elite is not a soft cushioned shoe like the Vaporfly, but it is a very smooth and fast shoe. I could definitely wear them for a marathon but will probably stick with the next % for Boston.
i'm trying to figure out how to best run in the shoe. i feel like there's something i'm missing, although i suspect the answer is that i just need to be faster
Hey, I've been binge-watching all your videos on the various Nike shoes out there at the moment and needed a hand deciding which one to go for. At the moment, I'm training to run a half-marathon at around 1:30 and my old shoes are better suited for training so figured I might as well invest in some decent ones. I live in New Zealand so things are less available but I'm willing to spend a bit more if it's worth it! Pretty much I need your help on whether to get the Vaporfly Next%, the Vaporfly 4% or the Vaporfly 4% flyknit. I haven't really considered other options like the Turbo 2's or Zoom Fly 3's etc but am open to trying them if they are better suited? Appreciate the help!!
Ben Evans I’m about to race a Half in April and plan to finish under 1:30. I just got the Skechers Speed Elite and have done one training run in them and they feel good but I’m used to racing Half’s in NB 1400v6. I do most of my tempo runs in the Nike Zoom Fly 3 and would absolutely race a Half in them but if money isn’t an issue the Next % would be a no brainer in my opinion. I got the Zoom Fly 3’s on sale for $108 and you’ll probably pay $250 for Next %’s.
Ben Evans have you raced Half’s in a more traditional racing shoe? Something like a NB1400, Nike Zoom Streak, or Adidas Adios? If not, going with the 4% flynit will be a safer bet (especially if you can get them on sale). I think a lot of people will desire a little more cushioning in their Half Marathon racer than the Speed Elite.
kofuzi I kind of figured a reply like that would come, but I’ve been away from RUclips for awhile so I missed that review. I just remembered in one of your old videos you had mentioned you couldn’t see yourself getting a pair of Skechers.
Brooks and Skechers made half marathon shoes, so there is still no real competition for Next%. Lets see what Adidas, New Balance and maybe Asics can offer. Maybe Hoka can make a new Carbon X v2.
I have this shoe and disagree with your review. In my size i have plenty of room in the forefoot of the upper. concerned about the lock down i used the alternate lacing holes to pull the heel more snug and that locked the heel down no problem. I found the shoe light and bouncy with plenty of push off the plate. for me it was lighter than the Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit with better cushion and a wider stable base. I will definitely be racing my next half in it.
Cool intro! I was poised with the unsettling music and the sphere finally. Speaking of shoes for half marathon. What would be your 1st or 2nd pick, based on what you feel right now?
sl20, adios 5, carbon rocket, speed elite, fuelcell rebel. maybe not necessarily in that order, but those different shoes all cater to different foot shapes and preferences. there's a lot of interesting other shoes that i haven't even reviewed yet, so the list could be longer.
Hi Kofuzi. Brilliant description about this shoe. Only one question for you: ¿Does it feel as firm as the Zoom Fly SP or does it feel more similar to the Zoom Fly Flyknit? I suppose the board and hyperburst combination will make it firmer than the hyperburst alone, but I love the feel of the Next% and they are the ones I use to compete. I suppose the speed of the Speed Elite will be similar to that of the Next%. I would really like to buy the Speed Elite. Thanks for all :-)
Very interesting to see if you like the Razor 3..not hard like the speed elite..love the Razor 3,very fast, light, cushioned and ordered another in next size up cos my feet do swell at 1/2 marathon distance..with 3/4 insole may work for runners with tough feet at marathon distance
blindguardian1979 as much as I hate playing into Nike’s game, I think that the zoom fly Flyknit is better. It features very similar technology to that of the shoe kipchoge wore. It has not only the carbon plate, but also a bunch of react. On top of that it has Nike Flyknit up top, which is very breathable and comfortable. It is also extremely light too.
@@arctifoxdrew4362 have you tried both? I wouldn't have thought the Flyknit is that comparable as it's really not all that light 248g (8.7oz for size 9)? Compared with the Nike shoes, I'm used to less cushioned shoes (Used the Reebok Floatride Run fast and the Adios 4 for recent races)...Not saying you are wrong as maybe those could be better but just wondering if you've used them both for similar distances?
blindguardian1979 the reason I think it’s better is because my knees have a lot of problems (quad and patellar tendinitis, kneecap subluxation and a shallow knee groove) and having the extra cushioning really helps take soreness away, especially after longer time periods. Also the zoom fly flyknits can be bought for anywhere between $70 and $90 Usd on eBay, brand new. So my logic is that if it helps with bad knees, it should help with good ones too🤷♂️
But you were running like 8 minute pace. My sense is that this is a 6 minute and under pace shoe. But I haven't run in it. I have the Skechers Speed Hyper and wouldn't dream of running slower than 6:30 pace or so in it.
i didn't like how firm the razor 3 were at all so gave up on the shoe after about 30 miles. quite a few people told me to avoid this shoe because of that.
That's the bees knees of the line. Wished he tried them as well instead of the go run ride 8 which is not even in the same atmosphere as the either the razor or the Speed elite.
Love the shoe. I put a ton of trail mileage in it and with over 400 miles I've put into it I still ran a 5k masters pr. I bought razor elite and it's ok, but I just bought a 2nd set of speed elites because they just feel faster.
Razor 3 is a great shoe, but I think it took at least 3 runs for me to break it in a little, and start to feel it possible to even think about going longer than 10k with it. Very lite and responsive, definitely a racing and speed work shoe, although I have runned with it in the 20-25k range without a problem... For me, not a marathon shoe though
oskie501 for a Half I’m debating between these and the zoom fly 3. I think I’ll be fine racing in the Speed Elite for a Half since I normally race Half’s in NB 1400v6 but I’ve been crushing all of my tempo runs in the Zoom Fly 3 so it’s always an option. For 10k the Speed Elite is the best shoe in my lineup over the NB1400v6 and Adidas Adios 4. Nike Zoom Streaks are also really good 10k shoes and I would wear them for a Half but a lot of people only go up to 10k in them.
After having this shoe for a little while I can say as for me this shoe is a beautiful shoe and wonderfully lightweight. from the colors, the upper, the midsole, outsole, everything about the looks of the shoe is beautiful. But I have some issues, the cramped / narrow the box, secondly, I was a little disappointed with a cushioning of the shoe keep in mind I am slightly on the heavy side but I was expecting good things, I was excited to try it but needed a light more. I was somewhat disappointed.
@@kofuzi exactly. This shoe took so long to come on the market, it gained so much hype behind it, the design was great, the color scheme was great, everything about the look of the shoe was great but in all honesty I'm a bit disappointed with a cushioning and narrow toebox of the shoe. I'm not too sure if I can seriously take these shoes for a long road run especially when there's other more forgiving options out there. I actually like the shoe but it doesn't even come in half sizes at the moment... total disappointment.
Nathalie Calvano if you’re going to be racing Marathons and Half’s I think the vaporfly will be a better choice for most people. If you’re going to race Half’s, 10k, 5k then the Speed Elite is a solid choice. I personally will use the Speed Elite for Half’s but I think a lot of people would desire a shoe with more cushion for a Half. I’ve only ran in the Speed Elite a few times so take it with a grain of salt.
just my thought... i never feel comfortable using skechers product, even if it's comfortable, i don't know why it feels... something just WRONG... maybe its just me...

(11:22) 🚧 Mayor Lightfoot, 'take down these walls!' 🚧🏃🚨
i didn't like how firm the razor 3 were at all so gave up on the shoe after about 30 miles. quite a few people told me to avoid this shoe because of that.
The time for the razor 3s has come too. Who else agrees?
That's the bees knees of the line. Wished he tried them as well instead of the go run ride 8 which is not even in the same atmosphere as the either the razor or the Speed elite.
Try the running nut, maybe helps to feel more secure,.
React infinity run or speed elite ? For 5k run between 20-25 min.
Great video by the way🦾 but what would you say is the best daily shoe over all...10miles n under
Pegasus 36 or beacon 2
kofuzi thank you💯
I would add Hoka Rincon, though limited to 250 miles for my old bones... 3:12 marathoner.
Eric Petersen thank you 🦾
Any plan on reviewing Adidas SL20 ?
Love the shoe. I put a ton of trail mileage in it and with over 400 miles I've put into it I still ran a 5k masters pr. I bought razor elite and it's ok, but I just bought a 2nd set of speed elites because they just feel faster.
Kofuzi, great review, as always. I was curious, what would be the closest you'd compare this to the Nike line if any?
ADOLFO ZUNIGA probably the Nike Zoom Streak but with a little more cushion.
@@mrpfvc - Cool, thx
I’m curios what is your max running HR?
thanks for the review. won't be purchasing them but nice to see skechers really pushing themselves
Hey man, thinking about picking up and reviewing the upcoming Adidas Adizero Pro?
if anyone wants to send me a pair, i'll run in it
How come when you’re holding your camera stick it looks like there’s no stick holding the camera?
magic.
also, a 360 camera.
How do you record your running shots without seeing the stick?!
360 camera
Have you ever tried running barefoot, or in minimalist shoes/what are your thoughts about that? Love yor shoes reviews btw.
For me, not a marathon shoe though
i have not tried it. i'm not particularly interested in it.
Great video! Seems like the Speed Elite is a lot of shoe to handle 🐎
i wish i had stronger feet
hey KOFU, please make a review about your new commute run backpack ! it looks awesome...

@@kofuzi oh yeah! Thx
I run 3 to 5 miles a day you recommend these? Or the go run 8?
These are not every day shoes
@@kofuzi thanks 😊
What shoes would you choose over this one for a 10K or half? Curious.
oskie501 for a Half I’m debating between these and the zoom fly 3. Nike Zoom Streaks are also really good 10k shoes and I would wear them for a Half but a lot of people only go up to 10k in them.
carbon rocket, adios 5
I'm worried I'm not fast enough for this shoe. Was hoping this would be a 10k PR shoe!!!
i'm worried as well that i'm not fast enough for this shoe
I believe your review Kofuzi...
Speed NON-Elite? 🙃
Get the razor 3(+) instead
for non-skecher brand, give a look at NB fuelcell rebel
It was a joke referencing Mike calling himself non-elite. 🥳
@@jimduyck he isn't until he has an elite racing bib that has his name to it.
Finally!!!
I was somewhat disappointed.
i wish there were just a bit more hyperburst in the forefoot. i might be bottoming out.
Powerful music.. feels like superman is taking off... kekeke...
vaporfly or this?
Nathalie Calvano if you’re going to be racing Marathons and Half’s I think the vaporfly will be a better choice for most people. If you’re going to race Half’s, 10k, 5k then the Speed Elite is a solid choice. I personally will use the Speed Elite for Half’s but I think a lot of people would desire a shoe with more cushion for a Half. I’ve only ran in the Speed Elite a few times so take it with a grain of salt.
1:41 Kofuzi Galaxy!
I like your sketchers u like me my gucci shoes
just my thought... i never feel comfortable using skechers product, even if it's comfortable, i don't know why it feels... something just WRONG... maybe its just me...
Hey you modest fella you. Lol. He said "especially Michael" if it weren't for you.......
The first time I read it on camera, I read it as written, and it seemed aggrandizing to hear it that way. I thought it was distracting
LIKE 👍
dont judge a shoe after 2 runs in winter, ty
I’m not. I’m letting you know, as indicated in the title of the video and in the thumbnail of the video, what my preliminary thoughts are.
@@kofuzi it was a lazy comment on my side, your title was clear and i was wrong, thank you

Yes, drink the skechers kool-aid kofuzi!
we have uploaded a video all about the speed elite on our channel! kofuzi video is super professional. ours is more like a train wreck! but still better than some of our uploads! check it out! it contains some very bad singing and also some bananas
😍😍😍😍 Can I get dibs if you ever donate the shoe! Signed would be lovely! #cmonkofuzi
Like always thanks for the video!
Got my son go run 7’s as his first daily trainers. He refuses to be caught in public in them.
That being said, Why are we watching anything but an alpha next% review?
First to comment first. 😆

that intro is too long man. a busy man like men really dont have time for all this unnecessary b-roll
