I LOVE my NB 1080v10 shoes. They are amazing. I wish I had them back when I ran NYCM last November. I like them much more than the Hoka Biondi 6 I wore for NYC. I do wear the NB 1080's as my daily trainer and can't wait to wear them for London this year.
I also bought the Beacon 2 and 1080v10.. however I found it dissapointi g that the sizing is different. J love my Beacon2 size 44.5EU D (normal width) and the same size in the 1080v10 feels way too narrow and a little too long. I suppose a size 44EU E (wide) would fit better. Beacon 2 D(size 10.5 normal width) = 1080V10 E (size 10 wide) Would you agree? Do you think the 1080V10 will stretch out and become.more comfortable??
I bought these shoes this week and just watched this video before hitting my long run for the first time in the 1080v10s, I'm excited! :) great review!
Your reviews are great. You and Jamison Michael deserve more subs, I'm definitely getting these for those recovery runs and 5k + miles. Love the beacon 2 as well, look forward to see how they improve it on the 3rd gen.
Are you kidding, I'm a slow runner...you mean I'm cheating LOL, just kidding, I'm turning 60 this year and trying to run NY marathon the second time, if I'm healthy to do it.
Nice review. I picked a pair up recently and have about 50 miles in mine. Very comfortable for slower pace runs. I had the pain in the ball of my foot today as well after a 10 mile run otherwise great shoe and been impressed so far
Interesting. 20 years ago I was running in New Balance shoes, and that's when that neuroma-like pain started with me. Changed to Brooks, and those pains went away somewhat, but then I ended up with my first experience with Plantar fasciitis!
the triumph 17 will be lighter and more of a bouncy responsive ride, and the 1080 is heavier and has a higher stack height and the fit of the triumph 17 will for a litter snugger around the foot and it’s a little more flexible as well.
I hate impact forces on my joints from running....so I just purchased this specific shoe for the comfortable plush foam cushioning support and impact minimization promises.....fingers crossed !
I dealt with the exact same pain at longer distances. All you need to do is cut a hole the size of a 1” circle where the pain is. It’s an instant cure. I have this hole built into my custom orthotics now. Just adding more cushioning without the whole won’t help.
Awesome - I just bought the red ones yesterday! Quite exceited for these and hope I can run more often soon still trying to recover and do my work... Hopefully soon I am going to be able to get after it...
Novablasts helped me overcome my neuroma/bruised metatarsal.. that forefoot bubble just cradled my forefoot so nicely(imagine gently gripping a squishy stress ball with your foot) and my toes were able to splay and literally heal
He is telling at 3:50 about foot pain he experienced in these sneakers. I've been running in them for 4 monthes making 5 km 3 times per week - and I feel the same foot pain exactly in the same place Kofuzi shows on the sneaker sole. Also some people at Amazon write about such foot pains in their reviews about NB 1080-10. There's definately something wrong with mid sole structure of the shoe. I had to switch back to NB Vongo -3.
I tried to like the 1080v10 but wasnt able to. Somehow i started to feel ridges below my feet only on the right shoe to the extent i removed the insole to see if someone left something there by mistake. The shoe was also too squishy for my liking and that became abit of a drag. The toe box was in 2E width, its narrowest, was still abit too wide and that free play became uncomfortable with some distance. I replaced it with the Nike Vomero 14 which instantly felt comfortable and much more efficient.
Crazy all of the initial impressions hitting the tube and Kofuzi w 100 already!! Really tempted to pick thjs one up, I’m a bigger guy trying to up my mileage and liking the new Balance Fuelcell Propel, but looking for another option!
Thanks for the reply! Yes, increasing mileage and protecting the body at the same time is a delicate balance! I always lean to the most lightweight, high cushion option, BUT with building leg strength I don’t think it hurts to carry a bit more weight and protection along for the ride.
Hi Kofuzi, I am considering to buy either the 1080v10 or the 880v10. I am looking to run a half marathon. Which would you recommend? Thank you and love your videos!
He can't! It's a lie! This week he ran using 4 pairs of shoes including these one. He never do more than 9-13 miles. So... in a week... 7 days, 4 pairs...
@@superkri18 He runs between 80 and 100 miles per week. It's easy to rack up miles in shoes! In two weeks my new pegasus 35's already have over 80 and I've just begun increasing my mileage
@@superkri18 yup. he's lying! liar liar running tights on fire! his stats in Strava prove that he has run 100 miles in these shoes, but i'm pretty sure he meticulously faked those stats too. shame on you kofuzi! you'd think that a man with a job, kids, running addiction, and youtube career wouldn't have time left to fake shoe mileage YET HERE WE ARE.
This is a shoe i tried to like being so pricey, but did not. Initial impressions walking ard was really good, ultra cushy, and very roomy. However, runnimg with it i found it Abit too squishy and that saps energy. 2E width was also still abit too wide for me, which made me conscious how to position it. On longer runs, i would start to feel abit of ridges as though the socks did not sit right or someone left something under the insole, only on 1 shoe, mine could be defective i am not sure. But the reviewer’s complain of pain in the ball reminded me of this. I replaced it with the Nike Vomero 14 which instantly felt comfortable and much more efficient.
Awe man, I have morton's neuroma . The cure I have done for now with my doctor is alcohol sclorosing injections [it took 8 injections for it to finally alleviate the pain, but anything is better than surgery]... It kills the nerve, very painful but it has now helped it. So you should ask your podiatrist about it. I am now back to running. Also, I noticed that the neuroma was aggravated if I did not stretch my calves properly. This was misdiagnosed for over 10 years so my suggestion is to get it taken care of as it got so painful I was having problems walking and couldn't run for over a year.
@@kofuzi SO I didn't realize what it was at first. I would go to the doc and say hey.. I have this pain and this is where it is. They would come up with all kinds of things (stress fractures, plantar fascitis). so they treated all the other things first. Because they were treating the wrong things... and I did also have plantar pain (I also have flat feet so when I started marathon training it was a challenge); the ball of the foot pain persisted even when the other issues got better. The pain would come and go, but really be there when I increased miles. It wasn't until I had a massage therapist tell me that if you are developing that callus pad under your 2nd toe on the ball of your foot, then that is for sure the Mortons Neuroma. Then I switched podiatrists, for a 2nd opinion, and the new one looked at the xrays and MRI and confirmed. So yes lots of learning, but I am telling you , if that is what you have an MRI will tell you right away because there will be a ball of nerves pressing or getting pinched by your foot bones on the inside. The only way to kill the pain is to kill the nerve, either through removal or the injections that I did. I am now much better as long as I keep stretching those calves and make sure that my plantar pain doesn't come back. Just trying to save you so much of the aggravation I experienced. I will warn that the injections hurt like the dickens when you get them, but it goes away and then the pain is better, because it kills the nerve that is getting pinched. Wishing you luck in your pain management!!
I started with the v5, then v8, then Boston and i just received my v10s this morning. Bought the wrong width for the V8 back then and it was a pain to run in them. Havent tried the v10s. So far i think v5s best and Boston were great but the Boston sole wears off really fast.
I love my NB 1080 v9. Got v11 days back but had to return it. The tongue design has changed. The end of the tongue moved up a lot which makes the area very tight for me. it hurts my feet so much even only sitting there. It's a huge disappointment.
I have an older version and very happy with it, now over 2000 km it's time to look for a new pair. Would you recommend to get a new 1080? or shall I give Kayono a try? I jog 10km daily at low speed.
the vomero was a weird shoe. like a fast slow day shoe. i really liked the vomero, but i felt like the toe box, while is was a very Nike toe box, wasn't something i always looked forward to for a long slow distance run. so i think i prefer the 1080. although, to be fair, i think the more appropriate comparison should be the vomero 14 and the 1080v9, as they are contemporaries due to being released at about the same time.
100 miles already!! Wow! I would want to say the perfect 1,2,3 combination (for a new balance fan) would be the beacon, zante pursuit and the 1080. I want to like the 1080, however the v8 was a tank, I liked the v9 initially but have been getting annoying pain when using it. Love the beacon and the zante pursuit, just don’t know if I want to invest on a series of shoes that hasn’t worked for me in the past (but I really want it to)
I’d go check it out and try it on, especially if you want the set. I think you have enough experience in the 1080 to know pretty quick on a treadmill if it’s the right shoe for you
I was looking through your channel and I noticed there wasn’t a review for the new balance fuel cell propel running shoes. If you have time a review on that shoe would be great. Thank you
I too have wear more so on my outer heel, but my wear in the forefoot is normal if not slightly to the outside middle as well. Is that indicative of needing a support shoe or am I still good with having a neutral shoe? Love your channel and reviews!
Interesting as always! I am having two Qs. #1 I fail to get this heart rate training unless it isfor long term heart health. then i get it. #2 Am wondering whehter this super high mileage stuff really has any effect whatsoever on race performance. Just logically it seems one might train much more specifically and effectively with a couple of 20 milers or 15 and 20/week and low mileage speed and weight training in between .
i think the best way to think of you're question #1 (although you don't actually specify a question) is to wonder, If what I want to do is run a fast marathon, then why don't I just run fast marathons every weekend until I get faster? In regards to your question #2 (which also doesn't actually specify a question), some people can run great on low mileage plans. I'm not one of those people.
First, great channel !! I have a similar foot issue, and from the lateral wear you mention, I am going to guess you also have high arches. In my case the foot pain is due to the high arch, as the arch does not bear weight, only the zone you mention, so it is overused. (Initially I was also considered as having a Morton's neuroma, but it was dismissed on medical exam.) After I started using arch support insoles (sport podiatrist made) it got a lot better !!!
Hi Kofuzi, Keep-up the reviews, as these are really good! I'm running marathons (at around 3hr40min) and are always struggling with the right running shoe. My weight is 70Kg and length 1,78mtr. As I have small-size feet (but relatively wide and a high instep), Addidas & Asics shoes doe not really fit. Therefore, I usually have the New Balance M1080 and/or the Brooks Ghost. Do you have any tips?
Maybe that forefoot pain is a Morton’s neuroma. That 8mm drop may make that worse as it pushes you onto the forefoot. I had a similar issue with a S Triumph and it resolved with a Hoka 5mm drop. Just a shot in the dark I guess.
I love your videos. Keep up the good work. Any thoughts on using the 1080 v10 for mild overpronators? I pronate more on the left and less on the right, so stability shoes don't cut it for me. Think a neutral with more cushioning might do the trick though. Any thoughts please?
I wonder if heavy cushioned shoes will be completely out of vogue in a few years. The removal of hard outsole rubber from shoes like the NB Beacon and Nike Epic React might be the way forward to provide softness without weight. I suspect this 1080 might suffer a similar fate as the heavy Asics Gel models.
Hi. how many maximum km can you do? 800/900 km? I have read reviews with complaints of premature and excessive wear of the sole even after just 200 km ...
Cool to hear the shoe is working out for you. Been looking for a new shoe to try out once I get back to training and this might be a contender especially because I plan on increasing mileage this winter (or the equivalent in LA at least 😂) It looks pretty durable. Do you think you will you push this past your usual 270 miles?
there are a lot of very good shoes that i still would like to get to before next years releases start to drop, so i probably will not. i have still held on to my Beacon to see how it fares over the long haul, but again, i'm not sure how much more time i'll be able to devote to it.
For me I’ve experience tighter calves from the rocking motion of the shoe I think putting s bit of strain because of the rocking motion. It still like the shoe. I did run light trails so might also be that thanks for the review
kofuzi wow funny you have that. I think it has to be the shoe. Never have sore calves until now and i have not change anytime else. I have a strong feeling it’s the way the shoe strike with a rocker making the calves extend more then usual but who knows. Will try keep it on road to see if that’s the reason but now that you mention your calves sore now I’m pretty sure it’s not your mileage. You always do more mileage Oh well
I bought this and the epic react 2 and venero 14. This is way cushier than the ER2, way more plush and confortable. I would consider it closer to the venero 14 which I also like better than then the ER2. Brooks Glycerin would be a great alternative shoe to this and Venero. Good luck.
With the v9 the ball of my foot hurt really bad after 3 miles and I had to return it so not sure if this shoe is for me. I think the forefoot is just too stiff this may be the cause
Thanks for your great reviews! I really appreciate how critically you analyse your own thought processes while running, and how clearly you articulate whether something might be just an issue with your own foot and not an issue with the shoe. That’s something I don’t see a lot of other reviewers doing. Do you think that comes from your legal background? I’m a lawyer too, and I try to do that with my own thought processes (though I’m far from perfect at it). Anyway, keep up the great work!
bought this shoe two weeks ago and was very exited to put some miles into it.due to most positive review is the reason why I went ahead with my purchase. anyways as I was approaching my second mile my foot stated to hurt towards the mid foot I kept going to finish my six mile and man let me tell you this shoes is not for me I was on pain till the next morning. I tried to give this shoes a benefit of a dought I had my daughter try it on for her 3 mile run and she felt the same thing. then I had my son try it on his run and didn't like it aswell. I guess ill just have to stick with the Clifton 6.....
Which foot has the discomfort? I've had the same issue for 20 years in my right foot, which I tend to point outwards a bit. I find that it shifts towards the toes sometimes too. I imagine it as some fluid that is like a deep blister. My "cure" is to double up my socks, and wear cushioned shoes that aren't old, with no concave depressions in the sockliner or midsole material, all day long. No barefootin'. After reading comments, I too, don't see it as a neuroma, since it moves around as much as1.5 inches, and varies from nonexistant to painfully obvious, depending on how diligently I tend to follow my preceeding advice.
Just came upon an article about the "interstitium" - fibers and fluid between stuff. My bias, based on my own symptoms, is that this foot discomfort is merely excess fluid from physical pressure, kind of a blister, in the interstitium. Others have brought up the notion of sesimoiditis(sp.?).- little hard grains that show up in x-rays. I wouldn't discount them as being part of the problem. In any case, avoiding anything that aggravates the issue seems to work best for me. But I wish it would just go away. In the past, it did go away for a year after I had to deal with PF. The cure seems to be to run in brand new shoes every day,so keep those shoe reviews going! You can test this fluid hypothesis by just scuffing your toes and the front of your foot, jamming or kicking into the ground, and suddenly the pressure point shifts towards the arch, and pain goes away.
If you have the beginnings of a neuroma then I would definitely do something sooner rather than later. Maybe just try a met pad on a under side of the insole positioned behind (not under) the ball of the foot.
@@kofuzi I don't see why it couldn't present like this if it were just a low degree of irritation to the nerve. The problem with nerve issues is that once they get bad, they can take a very long time to resolve. Adding some padding under your midfoot costs virtually nothing and might save you many $$$/months of recovery.
Thanks for a great review! Would you say that the shoe breaks in easily? Just tried the shoe in the store and it felt great. But the toe box and midfoot felt tight.
Your pain could be Sesamoiditis. I had that this past summer. Starts as a nagging pain underneath the ball of your foot. It can come with overuse or from a sudden movement.
Thank you for the review! What type of pain was it that you had on your foot? I'm a forefoot striker. Would you recommend 1080v8, v9, or v10 for the forefoot strikers?
How are this compared to Vomero 14 is 1080v10 an good option? Running in Vomero today and like to find an option. Need a shoes for longer runs and it needs to be neutral but steady/stable. Have tryed Infinity run but its to instable in the heal forefoot so I get pain in both my ankles.
If the infinity run does not feel stable enough for you, the 1080 might not be a good option for you either. I might consider the Brooks Adrenaline or the Hoka arahi
@@kofuzi Have noticed that it hurts on the outside of my foot and beneath my heel when im puting the shoues on today. Can be that the Infinity run are to narrow for my foot. When I try my vomero i cant feel any pain.
I loved the 1080 v9 but I never experienced the pain in forefoot that many said, anyway I was going to get another pair but now I'll just get the v10 👍
You can maybe change socks. Or maybe change up shoes. But high mileage takes consistency. I like to focus on the number of days per week of running over any one specific workout or long run.
I bought the Beacon 2 and 1080v10.. however I found it dissapointi g that the sizing is different. I love my Beacon2 size 44.5EU D (normal width) and the same size in the 1080v10 feels way too narrow and a little too long. I suppose a size 44EU E (wide) would fit better. Beacon 2 D(size 10.5 normal width) = 1080V10 E (size 10 wide) Do you think the 1080V10 will stretch out and become wider in the toebox and more comfortable??
@@xtamhor it feels narrow around the forefoot but it has a stretchy knit upper. The shoe does open up after a few miles. You can also just go for the v11s, which are similar but great right out of the box, no break in period required.
I feel that same pain. I had a magnetic resonance and three doctors said it was Metatarsalgia. Maybe you have too? Hope to help. Doctors said I should use soft but ridig shoes, so I'm sticking to my Zoom Fly 1 and Next%, and trying to buy a Zoom Fly 3.
@@kofuzi thank you for the feedback. Was any shoe a any good to prevent the pain? I was running a lot with EpicReacts. Now I really don't know which shoe should I go for.
nope. and maybe that's why i thought the shoe felt "heavier" over time. maybe it was the foam chilling. but, my personal theory is that the effects of cold on foams are greatly over-emphasized
@@kofuzi " the effects of cold on foams are greatly over-emphasized " . You need to do the Hoka Bondi 6 test then. That huge EVA slab turns rock hard in cold temps and made it impossible for me to use them in the winter. I now run in TPU based shoes ( Reebok forever floatride energy ) and just marvel at the consistency of the cushioning regardless of outside temps.

I’m not sure if it’s simply because I went from cross trainer sneakers that were never meant for running into a proper shoe or if the 1080v10 is really just this awesome but WOW... A bit tight around the lace area but I’ll try some different configs and lace tightnesses until I smooth that out. 9/10 💪🏼❤️🇺🇸
Ive had the 1080v10s for several months. I liked them for the most part but I also noticed the tread wears very quickly. Also just noticed the tread is separating from the foam. Looking for another pair to try. How do you think these compare to the Pegasus 36 or Vomero 14? I tried the Asics Gel-Kayano and i didnt like the heel on that shoe. I look the heel support in the 1080 which is why I was thinking of Nike. I have a wider foot.
kofuzi nice to hear! I have been thinking about picking these up because, outside the insole issue, I liked the Zante Pursuits so much. Will def have to give them a try now!
they are different shoes. 1080v10 is more of a long run and recovery run shoe. the grr8 is a standard daily trainer. i like them both at their primary use cases. that being said, i think the 1080 is better at being a daily trainer than the grr8 is good at being a long run shoe. but opinions will vary on that.

Would you recommend this shoe for rope jumping? I jump for 30-60 mins depending the workout.. thanks!
I felt the exact same thing around the ankle! Went away when I ran but walking it was bothersome!
Strange, right?
@@kofuzi Very. Just thankful it hasn't been an issue during runs.
How did you run 100 miles already!? That would take me a few months haha.
It was fun, but I’m tired
@@kofuzi Btw, do you wear the same size for these as you do in the Peg 36?
He can't!
Any idea when we can look at the Version 11? what changes are you anticipating and will you do a review on it?
Awe man, I have morton's neuroma . The cure I have done for now with my doctor is alcohol sclorosing injections [it took 8 injections for it to finally alleviate the pain, but anything is better than surgery]... It kills the nerve, very painful but it has now helped it. So you should ask your podiatrist about it. I am now back to running. Also, I noticed that the neuroma was aggravated if I did not stretch my calves properly. This was misdiagnosed for over 10 years so my suggestion is to get it taken care of as it got so painful I was having problems walking and couldn't run for over a year.
your morton's neuroma bothered you for 10 years? the fact that it persisted for 10 years would point me away from that diagnosis.
Why did you get the 1080 in some years but not others?
Just bought these from joes new balance outlet. Hoping to get good protection from knee and ankle pain from the massive midsole cushion
Very nice you always answer questions
if you guys take the time to not only watch but also write, i want to make sure you guys know i've heard you. it's the least i can do.
@@kofuzi Love your humbleness and hard work.
Hey Mike, would you prefer this over the Vomero 14....which is more comfortable to run in? Great video as always.
the vomero was a weird shoe. like a fast slow day shoe. i really liked the vomero, but i felt like the toe box, while is was a very Nike toe box, wasn't something i always looked forward to for a long slow distance run.
so i think i prefer the 1080. although, to be fair, i think the more appropriate comparison should be the vomero 14 and the 1080v9, as they are contemporaries due to being released at about the same time.
Thank you
FOD Runner has some good reviews on the shoe. I likely will not get to it, although i am trying to fit the fuelcell rebel into my rotation.
damn do they look good in black and white tho. i could only find them in a weird blue and green color
I too have wear more so on my outer heel, but my wear in the forefoot is normal if not slightly to the outside middle as well. Is that indicative of needing a support shoe or am I still good with having a neutral shoe? Love your channel and reviews!
I think your joints are a better indicator of whether you need a support shoe. Or your doctor.
I really like this shoe , but if I could only have one daily trainer , would you take this or the fuel cell rebel?
I haven’t tried the rebel yet
Thinking about buying daily trainer shoes for eazy long run. Which u recommend 1080v10 or becon 2.
Both are great. I’d lean towards the 1080 based on the information provided
Wow, I had the same question thanks for the reply!
Beacon v2 for easy day is no brainer
Thank you, great videos. I am looking at the 1080v11 vs Pegasus 37 vs Endorphin Speed/Pro, which is your favourite of the three?
First, great channel !!
I have a similar foot issue, and from the lateral wear you mention, I am going to guess you also have high arches. In my case the foot pain is due to the high arch, as the arch does not bear weight, only the zone you mention, so it is overused.
(Initially I was also considered as having a Morton's neuroma, but it was dismissed on medical exam.)
After I started using arch support insoles (sport podiatrist made) it got a lot better !!!
It sounds like you’ve found some shoes you like. I’d keep going with those.
In the market already have same copy which is hard to check original or copying
Thanks for the review!
thanks for watching!
We have a lot of shoes for you here choose
www.aliexpress.com/store/5380321
thank you
Would hou recommend this one or the beacon for Marathon day? I’m not looking for speed durin my next marathon:)
For a marathon race? The beacon
Indeed for a marathon, Rotterdam it will be. I was also thinking about the Asics glideride or Hoka Rincon :)
Maybe that forefoot pain is a Morton’s neuroma. That 8mm drop may make that worse as it pushes you onto the forefoot. I had a similar issue with a S Triumph and it resolved with a Hoka 5mm drop. Just a shot in the dark I guess.
A neuroma seems to be the consensus opinion
How does the toe box width compare to the beacon 2? Similar or narrower?
I love your videos. Keep up the good work. Any thoughts on using the 1080 v10 for mild overpronators? I pronate more on the left and less on the right, so stability shoes don't cut it for me. Think a neutral with more cushioning might do the trick though. Any thoughts please?
I wonder if heavy cushioned shoes will be completely out of vogue in a few years. The removal of hard outsole rubber from shoes like the NB Beacon and Nike Epic React might be the way forward to provide softness without weight. I suspect this 1080 might suffer a similar fate as the heavy Asics Gel models.
i suspect that it will be a pendulum
Hi.
how many maximum km can you do? 800/900 km?
I have read reviews with complaints of premature and excessive wear of the sole even after just 200 km ...
Hi kofuzi, would you make a video to compare NB 1080v10 with asics glideride? Which pair is better for long slow run?
I can’t make that video anymore. The 1080 was donated to charity a while back
Tried the previous version but sent it back for another pair of beacons..beacon is lighter and feels softer/easier on bottom of feet..
I really love the beacon. But I wouldn’t necessarily choose it for my super long runs.
How do you compare NB10180-V10 to Saucony Endorphin Speed? Am kind of undecided between these two, normally I run from 12kms to 25kms on each days...
Brother this model it’s tts? Thanks 🙏🏼
For me I’ve experience tighter calves from the rocking motion of the shoe I think putting s bit of strain because of the rocking motion. It still like the shoe. I did run light trails so might also be that thanks for the review
I do have sore calves at the moment, but I was attributing that to the higher miles.
kofuzi wow funny you have that. You always do more mileage Oh well
Me too!
Thanks for pointing that out, tight calves is my main concern so I will most likely pass on those one
Geoffrey B I will keep running till 100 miles strictly on the road to make my conclusion. So sad cause this shoe feels so great
Would you compare this as being similar to the epic react?
I would describe it as a beacon with just a tiny bit of react foam in it.
I think the forefoot is just too stiff this may be the cause
sorry to hear that
Thanks for your great reviews!
I think it comes from my scientific training
kofuzi hoka Clifton 6 or 1080v10 better ?
Hoka Bondi vs new balance 1080?
bought this shoe two weeks ago and was very exited to put some miles into it.due to most positive review is the reason why I went ahead with my purchase. anyways as I was approaching my second mile my foot stated to hurt towards the mid foot I kept going to finish my six mile and man let me tell you this shoes is not for me I was on pain till the next morning. I tried to give this shoes a benefit of a dought I had my daughter try it on for her 3 mile run and she felt the same thing. then I had my son try it on his run and didn't like it aswell. I guess ill just have to stick with the Clifton 6.....
hmmm. that's a bummer. and a big surprise that it went 0 for 3 in your house.
After reading comments, I too, don't see it as a neuroma, since it moves around as much as1.5 inches, and varies from nonexistant to painfully obvious, depending on how diligently I tend to follow my preceeding advice.
the right foot for me.
in prior years, it's been the left foot
How do these compare in size fit verse vs the Hoka Clifton 6?
If you have the beginnings of a neuroma then I would definitely do something sooner rather than later. Maybe just try a met pad on a under side of the insole positioned behind (not under) the ball of the foot.
People constantly tell me it’s a neuroma. But I don’t think neuroma linger/come and go in a low grade fashion for over a year
@@kofuzi I don't see why it couldn't present like this if it were just a low degree of irritation to the nerve. The problem with nerve issues is that once they get bad, they can take a very long time to resolve. Adding some padding under your midfoot costs virtually nothing and might save you many $$$/months of recovery.
Got my new pair today from Road Runner Sports. I'll be testing them out on Saturday.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for a great review! Would you say that the shoe breaks in easily? Just tried the shoe in the store and it felt great. But the toe box and midfoot felt tight.
I don’t think it needs much of a break in
@@kofuzi Thanks for reply. So you don't feel that your big toe is squeezed in the fabric?
Your pain could be Sesamoiditis. I had that this past summer. Starts as a nagging pain underneath the ball of your foot. It can come with overuse or from a sudden movement.
I’ve not heard of that.
I had the same forefoot pain issue with Saucony's EverRun. As soon as I switched footwear, it instantly went away.
I never had it with everrun. I liked everrun.
Funny! I double up my Saucony EverRun inserts to insure that my feet will feel pain free. Those inserts last forever.
Thank you for the review! What type of pain was it that you had on your foot? I'm a forefoot striker. Would you recommend 1080v8, v9, or v10 for the forefoot strikers?
V10
What shoes would you recommend for long runs that will be able to last lots of miles?
i don't have a lot of experience in max cushion shoes, but I do like this one.
typically, for my longest runs, I reach for an older pair of vaporfly
Hoka one one Clifton 6, great for long runs for me, you should give it a try 👍
@@denisyeo122 I already have one.
Which one you prefer between 1080 v10, GoRun Ride 8 and NovaBlast ?
Which better between 1080v10 or glideride?
I have not yet tried the glideride 1 or 2
How are this compared to Vomero 14 is 1080v10 an good option?
I loved the 1080 v9 but I never experienced the pain in forefoot that many said, anyway I was going to get another pair but now I'll just get the v10 👍
but if you loved the 1080v9, they should be at a discount now. so, win win
Oddly enough they're not on sale, assuming they still have my size
Ya get the 10, looks better LOL
Bro want to ask u.. you always run high milage. Do u get blister ? Because i have been getting blister here an there if i run above 10k. Any advise ?
You can maybe change socks. Or maybe change up shoes.
But high mileage takes consistency. I like to focus on the number of days per week of running over any one specific workout or long run.
@@kofuzi I have tried to change socks and it works a little better. Thx Bro !
These are great shoes, expect a 30-50 mile break in period and about 300 or so miles for durability. Great all around shoe.
Beacon 2 D(size 10.5 normal width) = 1080V10 E (size 10 wide)
Do you think the 1080V10 will stretch out and become wider in the toebox and more comfortable??
@@xtamhor it feels narrow around the forefoot but it has a stretchy knit upper. The shoe does open up after a few miles. You can also just go for the v11s, which are similar but great right out of the box, no break in period required.
I feel that same pain. I had a magnetic resonance and three doctors said it was Metatarsalgia. Maybe you have too? Hope to help. Doctors said I should use soft but ridig shoes, so I'm sticking to my Zoom Fly 1 and Next%, and trying to buy a Zoom Fly 3.
Zoom fly 3 exacerbated the condition substantially for me
@@kofuzi thank you for the feedback. Was any shoe a any good to prevent the pain? I was running a lot with EpicReacts. Now I really don't know which shoe should I go for.
What is the most comfortable shoe for you? (The softness cushion)
UB 4.0.
But softest doesn’t equal best
Hi. Great stuff as usual. Since fresh foam is EVA based did you feel the midsole getting harder in cold temps ?
nope. and maybe that's why i thought the shoe felt "heavier" over time. maybe it was the foam chilling.
but, my personal theory is that the effects of cold on foams are greatly over-emphasized
Hello everyone, this shoes and ultraboost 20 , which is better ???
Just got these! How would you compare to Hoka Challenger? I did try Clifton 6 but the arch was too narrow. Thank you
Did you try the Clifton 6 Wide ?
@@manueltan8962 About a year ago I did try Clifton 5 in wide and that Arch felt way to aggressive(and I have a High arch) No C6 though
Last month I briefly tried on Challenger atr5 and I can tell it's built on a different/wider last...
As a pretty slow (~10m/mi pace) and low mileage (
I hope it works out for you!
kofuzi I’ll find out when they get here Monday. Thank you!!
kofuzi ohhhh did it ever work out!!!
Do you know how this would compare to the Bondi 6? It looks to have around the same stack height.
I don’t.
But stay tuned
How do you compare 1080v10 to the Clifton 6 ?
Clifton is lighter and a cushioned daily trainer. 1080 is a bit heavy, but a quick max cushion shoe
How does it compare to Pegasus turbo 2 as a daily trainer?
Different shoes for different tasks. This is more of a high mileage max cushion shoe. The turbo is the opposite.
would you recommend 1080v10 or fuel cell rc elite for quicker pace days
The two shoe are at opposite ends of the speed spectrum. For faster days, the RC Elite.
1080v10 or Clifton 6 ?
ask me in a week.
I know you’ve had issues with insoles slipping in NBs before. I had to glue in my zante insoles bc of it. Anything like that with these?
This was the first NB I’ve had where it wasn’t an issue.
kofuzi nice to hear! I have been thinking about picking these up because, outside the insole issue, I liked the Zante Pursuits so much. Will def have to give them a try now!
Do you recommend this for heavy runners? If not is there any shoes you recommend?
Yes. I’d also look at Triumph 17
Hi! Between NB 1080V10 and Gorun Ride 8, which one do you prefer and why?
they are different shoes. 1080v10 is more of a long run and recovery run shoe. the grr8 is a standard daily trainer.
i like them both at their primary use cases. that being said, i think the 1080 is better at being a daily trainer than the grr8 is good at being a long run shoe. but opinions will vary on that.
This or asics novablast..??
Would you prefer these or the Hoka Rincons?
got to be the Bpndi 7's... so much more cushioning than the rincon
I have 12 pairs of running shoes...how can i now the mileage of every shoes when i switch from one to another ???
i keep a spreadsheet
or track it in strava or any other app
How would you compare it to the hoka clifton 6? Softer/harder? Better/worse?
Ask me in a week when I have 100 miles on the 6
