Sorry but this doesn't make any sense. Frenkie didn't get his whole salary in the Covid period and his current salary is now this high because he is getting payed back. He is one of our most important players, he organises the whole 1st and 2nd phase and even delivers some assists now and than.
The salary will increase on summer. That's the problem. Frenkie is an amazing player, but Barça isn't able to pay that kind of salary and Frenkie knows it. Legally speaking, he can keep that salary and not change it at all, but man, that's not loving the club.
Frenkie's salary is also so big because his salary was not paid fully during covid and this upaid salary is added to his normal salary.

Even Pep, who has John Stones, never converted him into a conventional CDM. He starts from defense and rolls into midfield (different from CDM, played by Rodri even when Stones plays). People don’t understand that CDM work is one of the hardest and yet, most important jobs in football.

I know he is paid extremely highly, but when I watch him play, he dominates the midfield. He's extremely destructive. Not sure about this notion that he is poor defensively, it's just one of his strengths is going forward, so having him play CDM knee caps him a bit

The thing is modern football is a possession based game. The most successful teams hire coaches who play possession based tactics, all these coaches would love Frenkie. He is so good at retaining the ball, developing play and maintaining possession.

Selling Frenkie is the worst thing you can do, he is easily our best, most reliable and most consistent player right now. His talent is being wasted because he is being played out of position. Everybody knows how important the cdm/pivot position is any team, especially in our system. Laporta was a fool to think Romeu would be able to do the job and with that decision he set Xavi up to fail this season. I would rather play without a great striker then without a great cdm.

I mean huge respect to Frenkie De Jong, but if we could somehow sell him then we could use that money to do a rebuild kinda stage. Maybe a decent CDM would do. Putting most of the blame for the team's performance in Frenkie or saying he's been underwhelming is hard. More so when the defense has been shaky, Romeu has been awful and Lewa has not been there in goalscoring.
Moreover, harsh times have been within the club for years and he's decided to stay nonetheless... even when a team who could pay him WAY more called in.
IT WOULD DEFINITELY BE A BETTER OPTION to buy a decent to good CDM and unleash all of Frenkie's game than sell him and then have to look for two positions instead of one.

1st of all, anyone that mentions his astronomical wages as a "barca fan" shows to me they've been living under a rock. Frenkie has deferred his wages for so long that all those bad decisions the board made are now catching up to them. Do you expect him to defer his wages once more? I agree what he's earning on the surface looks insane, but it is well earned after the respect he gave the club by sticking with them and taking pay cuts on pay cuts. Secondly, have you watched any of the recent games when you mentioned you want to slide gundogan out of the squad? The man is the best preformer in the squad... Lastly, with everything Frenkie has shown the club in terms of love and respect combined with him buying his new home in the area on top of him and his wife really wanting to spend their lives together in Catalonia, i dont see him ever leaving the club unless barca forces him out at the end of his contract which will never happen.

I have been saying this everywhere on social media - FDJ earns too much for what he is offering. He should have been sold when United asked. There is no question about his quality but this is not working for the club. Gundogan should be absolutely dropped. He has offered nothing from midfield. In fact he has been so useless that Pedri had to play as the second pivot in that last game. And don't even get me started on Lewa. I disagree with the argument that “well this is the contract he has and he is not wrong in enforcing it”. I’d say that’s correct if it were a regular job but it is not. He knows he is overpaid and the moral thing to do here (especially considering he’s already filthy rich) is to give up on the big ass salary for the good of the club, even if he were performing at that level. I’ve always liked him as well and think he’s very good but if he doesn’t lower his salary then I think we should push to sell him 100%

Listen, i don't think it is about any of this players alone, I think the problem is that with these players, you need ALL of them. You need Frenkie to have to any stability at ball progression from the defense, you need Pedri for creativity and Gavi to have any defensive ability and pressure. Even though he is my favorite player from the team, I think when we bought Frenkie, we should have bought Rodri instead. Tbh idk what to do, he def CAN'T keep earning that mich money, but... Other players sacrificed and forgiven money being owed to them (not saying De Jong should do the same). Here is the problem, the club wants to keep him (and I want him to stay as well) but the team also needs a pivot. In order to do that Frenkie and other players that the club plan on extending and lowering wages should do it, if not then be sold to a team that is able to pay them what they deserve. Frenkie is entitled to the money but he also wants to stay at Barca knowing they most likely can’t give him what he wants? He can’t have his cake and eat it too
