They are, they can essentially absorb all knowledge from the species they absorb

@@Z0mbie6073 considering that the primordials made all species in the galaxy before the forerunners wiped them out, leading to them becoming the flood due to their genetic dust becoming corrupted over eons of floating in space...they likely do and do so as the situation calls for it. Mutation is a form of evolution, just that the flood D&D is a lot more...unstable, to be able to change at will so easily.
Like the other comment said, absorbing knowledge probably aides in choosing what forms to take next for their assualts.
