I have the same hunter green in a 1958 SM2 model....no tab sets by the space bar or card guide. The green really is cool.
Well, this brought back a flood of memories -- especially when you opened the "hood." Ink stained fingers, the clatter of keys late into the night, the scent of typewriter ribbon.
I learned to type on one of these. I would prop open a Galaxy Science Fiction Magazine and type in the stories as fast as I could. I got fast...
Also, this typewriter was a fricken TANK! I'd fall asleep and after rolling around in my sleep I would knock it off the bed with a horrible crash --- yet it worked flawlessly the next day. Why was it on my bed? I don't remember! I probably had some sort of improvised lap desk.
What a great memory!!
I see the Tab button on the right. But what is the "SET" button? Is that to set the "TAB" too?
yes
I have the same exact one. Just like new in hunter green. This one is called the Olympia SM4. I love this machine. 🫶
I have the same one in the same color. I’m having a problem with the carriage release. It seem to hit something when I manually move it from left to right. It seems to hit something when it goes through the center of the carriage.
Probably the carriage lock lever is in the way
What is the clear and set buttons for next to the space bar?
Tab clear and set
is the machine still avaiable?
No, but we have a couple other Olympias that are currently available. www.jotandtittletypewriters.com/shop
