- FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) - A St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested and is set to lose his job after he allegedly used excessive force when taking a suspect into custody and lied about it.
Deputy Randy Walker is accused of misdemeanor battery and making a false statement as a public servant, which is a felony, in connection with the April 2 incident. He was booked into the Martin County jail and has since been released on $15,000 bond.
Walker, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office for eight years, had been on paid administrative leave since the investigation began and is currently on unpaid administrative leave, Sheriff Keith Pearson explained when announcing the arrest.
Walker will soon be fired, Pearson added.
The inquiry that led to Walker’s arrest was not based on a complaint from the person taken into custody, rather it was launched after a standard review of all instances where a deputy used force and from watching the bodycam evidence, Pearson continued.

The other cops did nothing, because they’re cowards, or they think what he did was fine. He wasn’t fighting the dog..he was pushing the dog away…because who in their right mind lets a dog bit them.

Yeah that was excessive, especially when another officer has to tell him to back away, then the officer questioned the suspect about his injuries on scene, he says he was fine before the crash but not after

Running from a traffic stop, maybe? We don’t know what preceded the stop, by why didn’t the driver just turn off his vehicle and address the issue?
The force to gain compliance looks excessive but maybe acting like a mature adult and not running away would have prevented the situation.

Cops did nothing wrong. Good work by LEO. Here’s a thought, when pulled over by the police instead of fleeing, crashing your truck, fighting the K9 and other officers, just comply, show ID and other paper work. I’ve been pulled over before and never have had anything like this happen. Of course I didn’t act like an asshole like this guy did.

Looks like the force used to gain compliance was excessive, but why didn’t the man just deal with the traffic stop at the beginning instead of running like a fool?
We don’t know what preceded the initial stop, but fleeing police isn’t a wise decision.
