Here's another use case. DIY talking head videos that for any reason require manual focus and you need to set the focus from a distance. For any professional (as in professional set) use I wouldn't consider this. But for content creators it seems like a great gadget to have at such an affordable price. I just ordered mine. I hope it does the job.

A few days ago, I bought a pair of TP Minis, and while in a room at a distance of 2.5 meters, there was a significant signal loss. I'm not sure if they are really that bad or if it's an issue with my unit. The brand told me that the antennas on the radios need to be facing each other for the signal to be 'optimal,' meaning the dragons have to be facing each other. I haven't had the chance to test them in a real work scenario again to see if the experience improves by taking the antenna positioning into account.

uhmm 2 units so far, pretty good! For 85 bucks on ebay? Only thing that comes close is a used Accsoon Cineeye, great unit btw but no receiver, transmits to smartphones/tablets an uses an app. Even if its just to film yourself or for a client monitor its great. Where you facing the receiver in your tests? Think you might have a DUD.(NONE OF MY 2 UNITS CAME WITH THE HIDEOUS DRAGON PRINTED ONBTW, JUST A STICKER TO MAKE THAT OPTIONAL.)

Does the viewfinder screen on your camera go black when it transmits to the monitor?

@shotbydarilyn No, it does not. However, it does if you go to the menu because the menus goes to the HDMI device.

I would strongly disagree with the signal being better from a Sony camera using the Creators App, or even Monitor & Control (their pro video cameras). I have dropout all my Sonys just standing 5 feet away. They're almost useless. Great comparison for that range test, I'm planning my own here! Ok! I just got through the tests. I had no drop-outs or glitching at all outside (only tested to 350ft). Indoors I used the second HDMI output on the receiver connected to my TV and started to get what you were seeing. I Moved my cable to the other HDMI output, and again zero issues like outdoors. It seems this is just some kind of connection or interference issue, and I'm hesitant to blame the product just yet.. I'm going to continue testing here before putting out a video.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. You are correct. The built-in Sony transmission system is only good for a short distance. I suppose if you needed a transmission distance greater than 0-20ft but less than say 100ft and are shopping on a budget, then the Shimbol could make sense for you.

I second the opinion on the Sony apps. So far, the connection has been rubbish for me from all of my Sony cameras no matter what phone I used. Even third party monitor apps have an awful connection. I ordered the Shimbal just to be able to use my monitor wirelessly for short distances (couple to a hundred feet) and I think that will be fine. I'll be able to test that at the end of the week.
