When Ross describes how he knew Miller was going to throw a fastball since he shook his head is one of the coolest and smartest things ever
Agreed. Amazing insight and storytelling
Miller didn’t seem to realize he wasn’t just shaking off one catcher, he was shaking off two.
I forget where I read this, but I read somewhere a while back that many of the coaches he played under in Cincinnati and LA were amazed at his knowledge of the game and how he was able to pick up on the little things so effortlessly (such as Miller shaking "no" on a slider). He may not have been the best baseball player ever, but he's sure one of the most gifted minds out there when it comes to the little nuances of the game. Can't wait to see him manage the Cubs one day!
Jarod Sparacio that’s awesome. I also look forward to him managing the Cubs one day!
hgyu,dug,had Jarod Sparacio
This one was especially great since you get to hear just how smart David Ross is. That was great insight.
And now look what just happened.
The best is how he knew, by Miller’s actions and tells, that a fastball was on the way. Baseball IQ
I still get choked up when I see clips of the Series. I normally watch games by myself because no one on my wife's side of family cares too much about baseball. But they invited me to watch game 7 on their super size TV so I wouldn't miss anything. (I'd only been home from the hospital for 4 months after almost dying from infections, lost my right leg and eyesight in my right eye). They tried to make a party out of it and I appreciate it, but my nerves were too frayed at this point.
After the 5th, I was just alone in my thoughts (all bad) when I finally realized no one was saying a word. It was like after nearly 20 years of knowing me and teaching Cubs history to them, they could see, they could believe, maybe this team IS truly cursed. I finally had to turn to everyone and say, "if someone doesn't break this silence I think I will truly lose it." Then made a face that made everyone laugh and they started trying to enjoy themselves.
When Grandpa Ross hit that shot, the room erupted. The rest of the game everyone was watching as intense as I was.
When I finally got my permanent prosthetic on my right leg, I had a "tattoo" put on it. It says, I prayed, "God, if you could PLLEEEEASE just let the Cubs win the World Series, I'd gladly give an arm and a leg. God answered "My Son, I'd be glad to do that, and all I need is a leg." I said "DEAL!!!" Below those words is the Cubs 2016 World Series Champions logo.
That's an awesome story. People ask me about the happiest day of my life & without hesitation I say November 2nd, 2016. I have a wife & two kids & I explain that I had to wait about a year for my wedding & 9 months for each of my kids to be born, but I've waited nearly 50 years to see the Cubs win the world series. I too get choked up watching the highlights & every time I see the KB play, Rizzo immediately putting the ball in his back pocket, the celebration on the infield & Joe Buck yelling the Cubs have won the world series, I still have to fight back the tears.
Calm down guy, it's just a fucking baseball game. First world problems lmao
VicInNocal it means a lot to fans
Same pro pic
VicInNocal dude chill out baseball means a lot to people including myself, it’s a way of life so let him say what he wants
What a moment!!!

Kevin Collins the south side has the money
BossATsleep then where are the better players?
jakedrums12 where are the urinals at wrigley field?
Such an interesting take from a catcher's perspective. Miss you, Grandpa Rossy!
more of a dad than a grandpa
He’s your manager now
Gyra looks like a grandpa tho
Rxptor_clutch yes
So we finally got an explanation about why Hendricks was pulled so early. Very interesting.
Agreed, but I still think it’s a bad decision. However we won so it’s all ok
Maybe Maddon told Lester to start warming up too early and he painted himself into a corner.
@@kylefast9650 Same. Obviously, it worked out, but to this day I can't watch the replay without thinking...."wait....what? why? Please don't.."
CZ u like baseball?
Who’s here after Ross announced as new manager?
Do the breakdown of Zobrist hit in inning 10 of Game 7 of the WS
No kidding! Zobrist won the game!
Or what Monty was thinking coming out of the bullpen
Youre welcome, I got your comment out of 69 likes
I am thankful as a cub fan that Zobrist got that hit to put them ahead but if Ross didn't hit that homerun the cubs would of lost 6 to 5.
No that’s boring
Ross is a great pick for manager. He really knows the game and the intricacies that go into decision making on the fly
Along with knowing half the players on team🤣
My eyes still tear up...
I still have chills and I am crying 5 years later. Go cubs go!!
God its been years and I still see the KB to Riz throw and get the chills and weirdly emotional in public.
It won’t ever go away. I’m a die hard angels fan and watching Erstad catch the final out of the 2002 World Series gets me emotional every time.
Red Sox fan here. Came by to just revel in Cody Ross and how great a player and teammate he is.
You won't ever forget the feeling..be thankful
I miss grandpa Ross 😢 he retired good though
BoLt_SYNC Xx good that he’s our manager now tho huh😊😊😊😂
These videos are some of the greatest sports content I've ever seen. I love to see a player's perspective of things, especially when it's produced as well as these videos are. Cubs have the best story in all of sports and I love seeing how every single chapter of that has unfolded.
It’s been 2+ years but I still get nervous watching Cleveland bat in the replays. Like the Cubs will still find a way to lose it.
No matter how many times I watch the Cubs win game 7, I still get chills. Ross is a Chicago legend.
My stomach flipped with butterflies all over again watching this!! Miss you Rossy!
I will never ever forget that night, that at bat and everything that happened after it. Thank you Rossy!
I was on my way home from work the night of game 7. I was listening to the game on the radio and drinking a chocolate shake when David hit the homerun and I choked on it because I got so emotional and I remember the exact corner I was at
At least he went out on top. I wish Ross well with his future endeavors.
This was fantastic! Love these breakdowns. And reliving these highlights of World Series Game 7 got me all choked up and teary-eyed again. LOVE THIS TEAM TO DEATH!!!
It's crazy, chokes me up every time!
same here! look up the whole game on RUclips, that really gets me!
Same here. I have seen some of the uglier sides of human life and just try to let none of it bother me. Watching the Cubs win the WS almost had me bawling like a little kid. People who are fans of dynastic teams that never struggled for decades just don't understand it.
I still cry every time I watch it.
You gotta love David
Definitely cried
This is the best one of these so far. By far.
A fantastic moment in what is still my favorite game ever
Unforgettable memory from the best team in the MLB!
not the best team but they are great
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Who’s here when he’s the cubs manager
Grandpa Ross, your HR in game 7 is my favorite moment in baseball because yo I can't write a better ending to a wonderful career. I'm forever a fan of yours and thank you so much for making 11-2-2016 one of the best days of my life! Go Cubs Go
Spectacular!
I remember being outside of Wrigley Field when he hit that homer, Clark and Addison went up for grabs!
Best night of my life.
I've gotta stop watching stuff about game 7 of that world series... I can't handle the stress, haha, the most magical day of my life.
Who's watching this after him being a manager
Yep, I cried again
Craziest game ever/one of the best days of my life!
Amazing to consider how Cubs history may have been forever changed if Miller hadn’t shook off the slider
What is equally amazing is that he didn't accept his catcher's advice when Ross had looked so bad on the first 2 sliders. It's also his best pitch as his fastball is typically only 94 and with no movement. OOPS.
If he chooses to he's going to be a hell of a manager one day.
James Knott he is
I know Ross may never see this but as a Cubs fan for 36 years at the time with all the young talent you was still by far my favorite player to watch! You love to play the game and it showed! Thank you for all the help to win the World series! God bless you
Brings back all the WS game 7 emotions.
As a sox fan im happy for the cubs as a baseball fan this gives me chills. Every time i hear that crowd it amazes me and brings so many emotions and memories.
game 7 was one of the most intense games ive ever watched live.
Still shuda left Hendricks in a little longer. Damn. That game was CRAZY. I get stressed out just watching this.
“I did my homework” is the best sentence in baseball to this day
First of all, I knew the outcome and still got butterflies watching this! Really interesting perspective, never thought about all the homework players do on the opposition and to be present enough in that situation to see the pitcher shake off the sign and then analyze the possible pitches and choose correctly in such a short amount of time...amazing! Miss you Gramps!
I am a Cardinals fan but any time you do Videos about David Ross I am going to watch. One of my favorite people alive.
We will always love you, Grandpa Rossy!
I want more vids like this like so cubs can see
Cubs: win World Series

I'm not a cubs fan but the goosebumps hit me
Awesome...glad to have watched the whole series of the cubs..and ross hitting his last home run was something...go cubs
Right in the feels
David Ross is one of my favorite catchers in the game.I wish he could off stayed for a couple more years
It’s amazing how good that feels just being a long time fan, I can’t imagine how it must have felt to be part of the actual team.
Sloe Bone he’s a manager now
Thank Grandpa Rossy! For all of the memories once a cub always a cub.#FlyTheW #GOCUBSGO⚾❤⚾💙⚾❤⚾💙⚾❤⚾💙⚾❤⚾💙⚾❤⚾💙
Joseph Kelley HES manager now
Goose bumps all over again! Thanks Rossy!
As a Cleveland fan, this loss still stings to this day. I remember standing outside the stadium for that Rajae homer, most magical moment of my life
Wow, I want to see a ton more videos like this.. this was so cool..
That rain delay won us a title, it also kept me from having a heart attack, I was able to calm down for a little bit lol
You know someone is old when you hear "get off the Mario Kart"
Whoever is putting these pieces together... Amazing job!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Rossy!!
I know almost nothing about David Ross but I have always liked him. He has something about him that just makes him easy to like.
excellent content. Thank you
These are so fabulous. And this one in particular just made my soul feel happy.
Loved hearing Rossi’s insights!
I absolutely love hearing from the perspective of a player. As a casual baseball fan it is fascinating to know the thought process of a hitter that goes into each at bat. This video is awesome.
What a way to relive this! David is such a great storyteller!
i'm already addicted to these breakdown videos!!!! more more more!!!!
Goose bumps. Absolute goose bumps.
I ❤️you Ross! Thank you😘
Whoa this was A++ ! Very well put together. Joe is a baseball god here in Tampa, we sure miss him. Congrats Cubs and Ross. ⚾🔥
THEY SHOULD DO MORE OF THESE
Love this! Goosebumps!
The way he read the tell is brilliant!
One of the great moments in Cub history. Please keep these breakdowns coming.
I want to see one of the Bryant throw and one of Albert Almora's tag up to 2nd base
And now you're the new Chicago Cubs Manager for 2020-2023!
Goosebumps. These breakdowns are fantastic.
0:08 only real ones remember James Russell
Not even a Cubs fan but I love the Cubs
Huh
man even watching this i'm still screaming at the screen when kipnis scores to tie things up in the fifth inning....
Thanks D.R. for the break down. Still crying tears of relief after the set backs of"69"- 73, 84, 89, 93, 97, 03, 15. Healed lots of hurts Can watch our beloved Cubbies with fun today. Feel like a winner,
Watching this gave me the same feelings I felt during that game. Amazing video. Go Cubs Go!
I was watching this live and it looked like Davis caught it

Just an amazing job by the production team. Was so good to watch again.
These are so cool! It’s great how you get to see it all from their prospective!
Wow..what. great video and breakdown of what happened...Great Job...love rossy
This is amazing... and even though I know the outcome, I still find myself nervous!
my heart's racing and i screamed just watching this again... that was pure magic. also this is why i love catchers, they are the top students of the game. rossy is a perfect example of that.
Marvellous video. You guys are absolutely killing it at the moment.
All-time “I told you so” moment between Roberto Perez and Andrew Miller
Thank you for doing more of these!
Man I will never forget that game and I was so honored to be at that game and to be in the locker room with them as a truck driver for Chicago Cubs
Best content on RUclips. Please don't stop! Amazing work!
Omg i love breakdowns
This goddamn series took years off my life...the stress was sooo intense. But, God, what a great time to be alive and a Cubs fan..
I thought I was going to have an actual heart attack watching that game. David Ross is such a class act, glad his playing career ended on such a high note. Gonna miss seeing him in the dugout this year
What a game!! Brought tears to my eyes! Waiting for that since I became a Die Hard Cubs fan in 1967
No joke I have watched this like ten times
CAN WE GET MORE OF THESE, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! THE DETAILS ARE INSANE
