    share it pls. rarely someone knows it. even saint shops, giving so much good technical tips, do not know / recommend it, which is very sad.
    & where do i know it from?
    1) an austrian tuner told me about it, about 18 years ago and its:
    2) quite obvious and very logical, if you think it trough...
    see comments an old scooter magazine article with exavtly this trick is mentioned, hope we will get it. Will be interesting. question just is: why has it been completelly forgotten?
    btw, thats the 2019, wasnt really clicked well
    i hope the new one will help that its shared

    This usually happens (cracks) on the cluster seat because it is fitted the wrong "xmas tree", old PX (1st series) has the "small theeth" grear, so the xmas tree shaft is smaller respect the later version (in Italy we call this 1st series of PX pre-arcobaleno ( before the rainbow series), with the old style cruciform ) this small gears were installed on PX untill the 83-84 i think. The problem is that you can fit this smaller shaft on later PX with the "big thoots" gears, but the hole in the engine carters is bigger so there is a lof o backlash on cluth side where the xmas tree shaft fits, so during the rotation it wobbles and all the weight is retained from the screen (where you whow the crack), this is why usually this happens, but for sure the trick shown in the video is very useful. :)

      thx. alao hitting wrong gear in high revs, cracks an engine case. and these hits can be taken better, if this trick is applied.

    Believe Scootering magazine or the like covered this maybe over 20 years ago. Surprised whoever it was hasn't shown it again. Hopefully this video will help. 👍
    Have seen over ten cases cracked at primary drive, nightmare! Have also seen guys strengthen that area by welding.
    Swapped a big motorcycle for a Mk1 T5 over ten years ago, checked that area, but never removed nut and washers ect and looked fine. Didn't notice the cracked case till I stripped the scoot! No refund. Moral of the story carefully check! First time I have ever been caught out, by it! 🧐 Ended up giving the whole scoot away free, as so demoralised, so at least someone was happy. 😉

      as well got the tip from advanced tuners. its a weired thing, that still. Only handfull of well experienced tuners do know about it...
      u got this old scootering article somewhere? never saw it
      If so, pls. Over fb page
      Thx mate 🍻

      @@FreakMoPed8 will try and find it, seem to remember it may even have been before everyone was on the tinternet 🤔, may not have been the scootering mag, could be scooter scene, scooter and Scooterist or the like. Had a magazine clear out last year approximately 40 years worth of magazines on the boss's (wife's) orders 😉, only managed to hold on to a hundred or so. Think it may have been the Taffspeed brothers. A lot of waters passed under the bridge since, but can definitely remember reading about it and have used it since. I thought maybe you has seen the same article when you put up the video about it a couple of years ago and was very pleased to see you passing the info on. Certainly didn't think of it myself. 😉

      was never in magazines, also bit younger = internet as THE info. git it from a quite well known austrian tuner back then. First Video didnt get a lot of clicks, thats why i made a second one. Its a big shame that seriuosly no one knows about it. Thx for the search. Would be interestjng.
      Yesyes the government, i known 😄🍻

      would be great if you find it, to bring proof: this is nothing new. this is very old knowledge, piaggio most probably, just few tuners remember it. i just tried to find it on youtube, nope. all videos in this respect are missing it... sad but true.

    Using straight cut gears also reduces this crack point on more powerful motors, by reducing torsional stresses. 😉

    • @FreakMoPed8
      @FreakMoPed8  2 года назад

      indeed. of course it reduces.
      But, with standard gearing and this simple trick, no stress at all, with even high end power engines

    I have a small leak apparently coming from the primary nut, my scooter is a stock 1982 px 150e. Could this kind of crack explain the problem? Is it possible to crack a case with a stock engine?

    • @FreakMoPed8
      @FreakMoPed8  2 года назад +1

      no stock engines usually dont crack. it will just be a leaking clutch cover. replace both seal rings.

    • @elPandoso
      @elPandoso 2 года назад +1

      @@FreakMoPed8 I have already replaced the whole clutch cover and o-rings. Now the leak is very small but I can still feel the nut getting "wet" after riding the vespa. Maybe the washer is not set correctly ?

    Maybe an old question - looking for power upgrade Vespa PX 125 CAT 2015 Euro 3 but simple PNP - no grinding
    Is there a DR 177 version to fit ? Cannot see one. Is a 24 carb alone, an alternative option ?
    Have already fitted SIP Road 2 and P200 air filter so maybe power is up from a lousy 6.3 to 8 HP already (54 mph or 86 km/hr GPS on a good day). Happy to try to fit a 22 tooth clutch cog if I get that far

      DR cast iron yes, in the end every 177 cylinder. i would recommend a VMC, also the superG is fine,

      @@FreakMoPed8 Thanks - so DR or VMS super G are good, but any does ?
      Has it GOT to be cast iron and just the cylinder or the head as well ?
      Am thinking a dark colour or cast iron so the authorities do not recognise it as being upgraded.
