So the legal test is multiple choice and the firearm section is sentance based answers and fill in the blank on the firearm parts. I would recommend knowing firearm parts for at least 1 type verbatim along with firearm rules 1-4 . Everything else a general understanding should be plenty! Hopefully that helps? i am really nervous about my closed book. I am 50 and the last time i studied was over 30 years ago. I struggle with syntax and phrasing verbatim to the book.. would I be failed if I miss a few words .. Like miss the word "tribunal" and use Court instead for example

I may be confused here. The open book test is the one in the back of your manuals. The closed book test will be given to you and taken back in by the instructor who does your testing. Hope this helps? If not feel free to elaborate!

If you have not been declared unfit but feel you may be I would recommend just going through the process! If it's still no at the end that sucks for sure but it may not be the issue you think it is! I`m doing the combination competency test soon. Is there more questions compare to a single eg handgun close book test.? Its a bit overwhelming doing all four at the same time so just want to maybe get more info on what to focus on if possible.

Hi buddy. Just wanted to clarify something. Are there TWO Closed book tests for the Handgun competency? One for the Legal side & one for the actual use of the Handgun or is it ONE combined test of 25 questions on both aspects?
Its one each so about 25 questions on the legal side(multiple choice) and about the same on the actual handgun book but they are worth more than one mark each. Hopefully that helps!?

All I've heard is that you can't make photo copies but other than that if you payed more than about R500 approx cost of books from source. It's yours! You can do what you want with it and they shouldn't take it from you they should just pull out the test section. Unless and this is just a theory they are reusing the books with new test sections inserted? Wich would cost them their license. But like I say that's just a theory. The books are yours but maybe follow those rules and if they take your books ask why since it is yours to keep and continue to learn from. I've never met a shooter who didn't still have those books somewhere!

Upon querying, I was told I'm not allowed to make any markings, lines, or Highlightings in the book & it needs to be returned in its original condition apart from the writing inside from me completing the test. I also find this to be very odd & nonsensical to say the least because, I would like to have those books at my disposal at all times, so I can always reference to it when need be. Above that, If for some reason I fail, it would make no sense to pay for this books again, but also, if those books are taken away from me permanently, how would I study for the practical shoot test, as I'd need the books for reference in terms of what not to do at the range/during the test. I really appreciate your advice & guidance buddy. Thank you again

It may just be the trainers I've been with but may be common practice as I have been to a couple different guys.
I am a Chinese, and my English is not very good, so I translated all the contents of the book into Chinese. Now I am worried about how long it will take to reapply for a license if I fail the exam.😢
