Clean the entire house in one day. I am 78 and a few years ago I knew I had to come up with another plan. I divided the house into sections to clean. Wow what a difference it has made. Sometimes as women we put too much pressure on ourselves. Love watching your videos. You and your husband are great parents and your children are precious

I started doing that about 5 years ago when I was still driving a school bus. I do one room a day through out the week. Now that I am retired I still continue with that routine. I have a small house and it is just Hubby and I now. He does clean the Livingroom, as that is where he spend most of his time when he is not outside. He also cleans the small bathroom. I do the rest of the house. I have no space designated for Friday but use it as a catch up day, Sometimes we have Doctors appointments so I don't get my intended space done so a catch up day is nice to have. It is so much more relaxing to not have to try and do everything all in one day.
Out of all the videos that I have watched of you Ms Janeane I have to say , the best part is when you said "you took down the towels and hung them back up just for us" I think That was the best part of this whole entire video because you always keep it real, but you really kept it real...i have done the same thing in my videos i upload lol.. and I'm still watching just had to pause and leave a comment. Love ya Ms Janeane...im a mom too and christian.
5 kids here, so every day is a wash day, three loads a day. I love this video! It's so encouraging to feel as though I'm not alone in the every day juggling of all the things. ❤️

After many, many years of doing housework one day, at the end of the week, I have switched to doing a little bit every day, and I love that my house seems cleaner. One tip I have and love is: I clean my refrigerator a little every day (one shelf, one crisper, one shelf on door.) I do this every day, Mon through Thurs, every week - my fridge is always clean. No more surprises when you open a container, because I check everything on the chosen shelf , as I clean. And, it only takes me about 4 minutes each day. Maybe this tip will help someone else.

You are so wise! I love your videos and this was one exceptional. I understand the overwhelm! I'm now decluttering and deep cleaning my previous life now that I am retired.
When you talked about the "Eek!" when the house is all clean and the little tornadoes start. That reminded me of my housecleaning job when I was in high school. When I came downstairs after 2-1/2 hours of cleaning, what I cleaned first was a hot mess. I felt guilty when Mrs. paid me because it didn't look like I had done anything. Mrs. always told me, "but it's clean underneath, and that is what matters". Now I remind myself of this often!

Good video, thanks. When I was working full time and running a small business a household routine was essential. However now I’m retired (but still run my business) oddly I still stick to a routine at home, although not rigidly. I used to batch cook, now each time I cook (6 days out of 7) I cook a double batch - one to eat that evening and one to freeze, it’s a great time saver and a game changer! Looking forward to seeing all that your trip entails.

When we moved to a bigger house i couldnt get it all done in one day with my lils either so i swapped things up and 8 yrs later i still am faithful at it and Love it!

But it works better if i do laundry every day - i was to overwelmed with one.

I am 74 years old and I am very fortunate to have a housekeeping service come in for the big cleaning once a month. In between I do the daily chores - redding up,keep BR and kitchen clean, do the laundry and , of course, dusting won't wait a month so I still have to dust each week.I have found I do better doing a little at a time, like you.When I worked full time I would take one day each week and exhaust myself doing all the laundry and cleaning. But I wanted my other days off to be for myself to do what I wanted. My husband likes to cook so we kinda divide that chore up - but he really messes up the kitchen so it's not always a blessing when he cooks. I guess everyone has to do what works for them.

I have always had a weekly cleaning and laundry schedule since I first got married 56 years ago. I have always loved organization in my life so this works best for me. It has helped through two children and a full time job. I am now retired and have kept the same schedule but now I have a lot more time for fun things.

Hi Janine, You are doing so great. I know lots of people who wouldn't even attempt a new way to get themselves more organized with their cleaning and/or routines. Kudos to you for trying something new and sticking with it for a while to see if it really works for you or not. I am older and also use the Blueland products and like them for the most part. yess! I started something like this last month. We do a deep clean of one room/section a day and then we also do a daily tidyup so we have morning clean time and afternoon clean time but it only takes a short amount of time each time. I have enough kiddos though that kitchen cleanup happens after every meal and they mop only after lunch. I'd like to say it goes faster because I have 4 helpers now and only 2 destroyers, but it really isn't LOL they still have to be motivated frequently and get distracted and MIA frequently and the mess is bigger to begin with, BUT this method has really helped with feeling like we're not constantly behind and drowning! We have also already had unexpected breaks like spring break and family visiting so Ive found life stays life but having a plan makes the burden lighter.

I felt this video, especially at the end when you are talking about jumping all in... it's really a bad habit of mine that I wish I would change. The stress over a clean house & being a mean mom, basically over spilled milk is sadly something that I'm guilty of bcuz I feel like when my house is clean & organized, I'm doing something. Jeannine, I think you're doing great with an area per day. Your house was lots neater in this video. If you know you've cleaned an area a day then everything gets done at least once a week. Voice of experience ....... you're gonna turn around and those babies will be grown. Love them and Whst does it matter if your house is spotless everyday. I'm very proud of you. Thank you for this video, I don't have kids but with working full time and other responsibilities, I often feel like what you said that cleaning the whole house in one day is just too much. I had tried to do the bit every day but as I couldn't stick to it for a week, I gave up. Although you've given me the want to try again. Also what you were saying about the trying 1% and making small changes, you are so right (I think I am also a make everything change or not kind of person whereas I need to be the smaller changes to realistically make it work) Thanks for the video and the advice. Oh I also do love that original cleaning video, it was so fun. Good on you for losing some weight... I seem to be putting it on by just looking at chocolate! Just remember that you are still an amazing person regardless of weight (I mean only lose weight if you want to/for health, you don't have to be skinny to be awesome)

By the time you got to #4 I was chuckling to myself. I don't have small children anymore, but still take daily chores in smallslots of time. I agree on the little bit a day. It goes against my grain because growing up we always did all the cleaning on Fri or Sat. And I like that feeling. But I’ve learned to not be so uptight about it. I don’t like a dirty house so if I see something dirty I try to just quickly clean it. One thing I’ve started doing a few years ago that helped so much is cleaning my kitchen & house up every night before bed. Makes a world of difference for me!! I also try to do a load of laundry from start to finish everyday. But I give myself grace if it doesn’t happen.

Funny. To me, you are actually doing something of Flylady. Progress over perfection. Secret Slob introduced me to flylady and how to make it fit me, not me fitting it. You experiment, prioritize, plan, mess up, regroup, replan. Lol😅 I have 2 laundry days that last all day. I change bedsheets on Friday instead of Flyladys Monday because for me it's a way of helping my husband let go of the work week and relax. I also don't vacuum when he's home or in the house. You are in a challenging season of life with 2 children, lovely home, youtube, your secret projects. You do what works for you. ❤

Hello Janine I love this video. I think it’s so useful, and entertaining as well. I am 73 next month and boy, did I need to learn about chunks of cleaning. The walk - run on - fridge appearance of Nolan was an extra! I’m certainly not a spreadsheet person. When would you suggest we fit in the oven and fridge clean? Happy birthday to you! I hope your birthday is a good one! You tell me when to fit in the oven and fridge. 😀 I'm still figuring that all in as well
@@theMennoniteMom I'll let you know when I figure it out. I tend to wipe out the fridge when I replace veggies etc. A deep clean about once every few weeks. The oven is accustomed to getting a spray and wash after every use. I don't have the energy or time to do it so often now, but I like to clean it about once a month. We'll see.

I inherited my hubby's old ones, and then he even added toe marks when he was painting one day and the Crocs were close by. I do something similar - I have a weekly schedule and a zone schedule that I got from the Secret Slob. You might want to look into intermittent fasting - I am hyperglycemic so I have a protein drink in the morning and eat my lunch around 11:30 or 12:00. From lunch to 6 in the evening I eat healthy, enjoyable meals and eat to fullness; try healthy snacks (or no snacks); after six p.m. nothing to eat. If we have company or go out to eat at either a friend's or restaurant and it's beyond six, I eat light (split my dish to take some home for the next day) and start my fast again the next day. I lost over 30 lbs and have been able to maintain my new weight of 133-135 for over 2 years. I'm not hungry which most diets make me feel like I'm starving! :) Read about it and see if it is something you could do with your health issues or would want to do. Good luck with the weight loss no matter what you do. Looking forward to seeing and hearing what you are up to on the business weekend!! God bless you and yours.

Way to go!!! Agree that spreading the cleaning over the week is less stressful. You do a very thorough job. Seems the cleanliness of the house is a point of honor in your culture. Is that true? Some things that seem very different from my upbringing (but I was one of 4 for a while and then one of seven eventually): 1. windows were definitely not weekly. May only be in Spring and Fall deep cleaning. 2. Floors were cleaned more during the indoor seasons but when kids and dogs were in and out and shoes were wet or muddy in the spring and summer, they get swept but are washed less often because they will be dirty again within an hour. 3. Doing things with kids takes priority over chores although kids can help do chores as they get older and they can make their own beds and clean their own room (which I know Xander does already for you a lot). 5. Laundry has to be every day in a big family or once a week in a several hour trip to a laundromat. 4. The mindset is the house will really never be clean until the kids are grown. It needs to be organized and tidy now, but raising the kids is the priority. Most of our neighbors lived the same way, but one person from another faith did make me realize other people think differently. Her mother even ironed sheets and she had as many kids as my mom. That would never happen at our house, even if there was enough time. On a day our house was picked up and in order my friend felt it wasn't "really" clean. Which it probably wasn't by her standards. Is there a faith reason the degree of cleanliness is so high? My Swedish grandmother probably cleaned like you. She wouldn't let kids come in her home without sweetly bringing them to the kitchen sink and washing everyone's hands first. We need a video on this "tradition" or a compare/contrast with other faiths! I'm thinking my mom's focus was the hearts of her children, bringing them to God and using chores to instill discipline but not as an end in themselves. She had a Franciscan side so the material was less stressed. Not sure if that is where the difference is from.

Your mother sounds lovely and wise! Yes, I think it is a cultural thing... but honestly my house is rarely cleaned perfectly because it's impossible with children like you said. I just find for myself, the whole family is happier and feels better when things are in order and somewhat clean. If my house has too many layers of dirt I can't function. That's why a little bit a day helps me stay on top of things without being consumed with cleaning. cuz cleaning I do not enjoy but I can't abide living in too much dirt. 😀
