I'm curious about how they are making their relative position adjustments, when they turn their heads and shuffle their feet, what measure, in their line of sight is used to correct their position? It seems akin to a single row of soldiers touching the shoulder of the next to make an orderly line, but more complex.

They were first non British troops to do Guard duties in London I believe. Kiwi greatcoats were all different lengths so Army tailors spent ages getting them all the same length off the ground. Don’t forget, inclusion in this day and age really does mean everyone. All these Bandsmen are basically Civilians in uniform, they do four weeks of basic training then they go to Kneeler Hall, the Royal Army amSchool of Music beside the rugby stadium at Twickenham. The Director of music could have come from any Regiment basically it all really depends who is good enough at the time. There used to be a height restriction on joining the Guards, you had to be at least 5’ 9”. But then that was deemed unfair, so the height restriction was lifted.
