    Nice. I like that you show the "search and hope not to destroy" aspect of DIY tasks such as this. Your video shows someone who takes their time can make this upgrade. Good job!

      Thanks for the feedback Marc. It's helpful to know that the 'amateur's eye view' can be either a confidence builder or deterrent to various projects. My hope is that people engage more with their vehicles, should their appetite exist.

    Hi there Wayne, keep up the good work. Do you still happen to have the original shifter knob on hand?

    Take those side panels out it will make it easy they just pull up and out
    I would chock the wheels and release the Hand Brake
    Also disconnect the battery key in ignition one turn before
    you do it

    How had the shift knob been treating you? I was stuck between this one and the stratosphere for my 997. I think the benefit of the circuit sphere is it’s the closest to stock shape wise

      Never had an issue, material, shale and size all solid. Thought about a metal one but heat is a factor in AZ. Glad I went Raceseng.

    I miss this Spyder! I know you don't have this car anymore, but I have a question about your original shift knob. I got one just like it to replace the stock one in my 12 Cayman Black Edition. This new OEM part arrived with the knob 90 degrees counter-clockwise from center. You showed the coupling on the underside of your shift knob and how to release it from the shift fork. Can this coupling also be used to twist the shift knob back to center in relation to the boot, or is the knob glued/fused to the top of the boot?

    • @DWraysGarage
      @DWraysGarage  Год назад +1

      If I recall, the boot is twistable. If not, you could easily separate it and reattach with a zip tie and never have issues. Hard to believe it would show up that way from factory 😭. Good luck.

      @@DWraysGarage 😆 that one's cool too! All Spyders are cool by default. I just have a soft spot for my model's generation since there's so few of them out there.

      @@DWraysGarage Thanks for the advice. I'm 90% sure it can be adjusted after watching videos like your and others.

    Any difference in feel with this taller knob?

    • @DWraysGarage
      @DWraysGarage  3 года назад

      Not sure if it is even really taller in any significant way. Feels just the same to me.

      All part of the kit. Very easy once console out of your way. Thanks for watching.

      Hows the shift feel? Is the throw nice and smooth?
      I installed a short shifter on my cayman n sometimes i dont know where the gears are. Lol
      Im thinking of going with an OEM kit instead like what u have.

      @@melp1088 Shifts feel good. There's still that tiny bit of 'slop' when in the neutral position but I rarely question which gear I'm in or headed to. I think it's pretty solid. I do hear good things about Numeric Racing's version but have never used one. Apparently that one is a bit tighter all around.

      D Wray's Garage thanks for the reply. I wasnt expecting a lot from an ebay short shifter but once these r installed there is really no way of going back due to the tightness of the metal bushings.
      Now im gonna try to see the (pre assembled) OEM SSK since ive heard nothing but good things about it compared to B&M type of shifters.

      Afraid I don't recall. Most of the music I used at this time was the license-free music on RUclips's Creator Studio. Hope you liked it.

    That shift nob look terrebly cheap in a Porsche.

      Maybe the camera is not doing it justice. I can assure you it's a slick-looking, sure-shifting unit. Thanks for watching. Check out Raceseng on their website for better looks at their knobs.
