I have been the one behind a jack hammer doing a commercial plumbing job right around the corner of someone doing a video commercial for t.v. or sales of some sort and kept having someone come over asking me to stop for half an hour so they could finish. I was like No my boss says I need to do this now and being on the clock and being a plumber we just want to get our work done as quick as possible. Owell right. Maybe if they paid me to stop I would have lol

these care are very comfortable to ride.. the low windshield is easy to clean and keeps the sun out of your face when driving. i kinda duck down when i'm sitting at a red light to see it change.. im a big guy though 6ft 2 .. and 225 lbs.. so far i have hauled a bathroom sink in mine and a new toilet or the half bath. some 2x4's and a sheet of pywood cut in two.. its roomy and great for hauling things, the little divider in the back lets you put it half way up and put heavy groceries beneath and put the lighter stuff eggs and bread up top.. its quite the handy little vehicle. best car i have owned and sips gass, i never hardly have to get a ull tank.. maybe every two months.. mine is a 2010 with 84 thousand miles. never gave me the first problem, its got a new set of tires and i had new brakes put on last year. . comfort, over 30 mpg highway... inexpensive little car. a lot for your money, i paid 10,500.00 for mine and it had 68 thousand miles was just over a year old. i dont do a lot of traveling so my miles have caught up with its age now... 2017 84 thousand miles is not bad for a 6 year old car. ..

If you know how to drive a manual you don't have to worry about transmission repair like an automatic. I bought a used 2009 hhr ss and my father came over and we worked on it a bit to make it more like new. We changed all the lighting to led. Very easy car to work on. We repaired a crack on the back bumper and bought some nice tires for it and installed a new racing clutch. The similar design to the pt cruiser is only skin deep as these hhr are bigger, more reliable and much easier to do repairs and upgrades at home.
The manuals are tiring in large congested areas but, open road commuting and rural back roads are very fun as it can fool you a bit that you have something like a race car. If you don't have the funds you can leave the radio as is and buy a 5.00 Bluetooth adapter for the aux port.

My 2010 HHR has 178,000 and going up daily. Oli doesn't get dirty between changes; Mobil 1 every 5,000. The GM 2.4 4 cylinder is as good as a Honda or Toyota that it's copied after IMO. The suspension is still tight and the only major problem was a wheel bearing. Transmission fluid has never been changed and AC blows very cold. I believe it will go a lot farther; fingers crossed. You like them (style) or you don't...

My HHR is a 2006. It has been reliable, inexpensive, and fun to drive. If Chevy would bring it back, I would buy another in a heartbeat. My original is in perfect condition. My only reason to trade up would be to obtain the safety features which did not exist in 06.
Come on, General Motors. Bring back the iconic HHR with all new safety features and with a few new bells and whistles.

To bad HHR's have the worst brake rotor warp problem. Rear drum brakes don't engage so the fronts absorb all the braking and overheating occurs, also the "auto adjusting of rear brakes doesn't work either. Well documented in HHR forums and Chevy got away with it. The engine and trans on my HHR seem solid so far as of 145000 miles and have not had a electrical issues. However as I stated before, if you like to stop when you apply your brakes the HHR is not for you.

    • @everycarSeattle

Chevy's new ad slogan is "find new roads," they just don't tell you that finding those new roads is done by driving over the embankment and down the hillside after pumping your brakes breathlessly to no avail.

Never again Gm. bought 2010 hhr in may 2011. owned until may 2017. changing the air filter required removing 8 torx screws from a big oversized air box. oil filter had to use special Low profile socket. changing headlight required me to lay on ground, pull splashguard back, and reach up like gumby to feel for the headlight connector. ignition lock cylinder broke. had to take apart steering column to cut car off. changed spark plugs, bad wire caused car to go crazy. had to get towed to dealer to fix. battery died. battery located in TRUNK! had to squat in back with long extenstion to release the battery. interior door handle broke (no aftermarket part) cost 60.00 for a piece of plastic. gear shift knob button broke. (again, no aftermarket part avalaible) 67.00 for that. keyless entry remotes quit working. (bought new ones on ebay) only to find out that the ONLY way to program them was to take it to the dealer, dealer charged another 50.00 to program the remotes. aux input to stereo quit working. keep in mind all this occured between 2011 when i bought the vehicle and when i traded it in in may 2017. it ran well, and served it's purpose but it was a pile of garbage. never again GM.

    • @johnsee7269

I love mine! Got an aftermarket door handle on ebay for about $8.00 including shipping! I changed my plugs at 160,000 with no problem. Replaced my battery when my daughter needed a battery for her Accord; they're expensive but rear placement was no problem; 4 of my Cadillacs had batteries under the rear seat, it took me awhile to find it on the first one! Instructions for programming remotes are on the internet; I just changed the "shells" also on ebay for about $15.00 including shipping. Remotes quit working due to battery or the conducting medium on the back of the pushbuttons crapping out; changing push buttons (shells/housings) solves the problem! I could go on but it seems that you just made bad choices... I recommend Scotty Kilmer if you ever have a problem with your vehicle in the future; the best RUclips mechanic in America PERIOD

I was considering buying one but like with all Chevrolet cars the cheap plastic parts made me change my mind, my mom drives one & both front door handles snapped off with little force applied to them plus the air intake hose is a sick joke, Chevrolet is only for their profit they do not care about their customers I personally believe they make this brand for the rich only, because of how much it cost to replace the inferior parts on their cars, but hey Chevrolet has kept money sucking mechanics in business all these years so they are happy with their fat wallets.

Yeah I know some people diss the HHR but my wife has had hers for almost 10 years now and I’ve got to say it’s been a pretty good little car!! We’ve had virtually no problems with it except for the ignition recall!! It has 74k on it right now and it runs like a top!! The only thing I don’t like about it is that it no good in snow but we only have seasonal rubber on it!! But other than that it’s a decent vehicle... only other complaint....
It’s not a SS!!! 🤣 but it does have the 2.4 litre with only 175hp it’s still pretty peppy!!

I purchased a 2011 a couple months ago, it had 57,000 miles on it. (It’s now 2019) my brother in law found it at a used car dealership, it was a trade in. He showed me a photo, my first thought was, is that ever ugly. I prefer a sedan, black or red. I couldn’t find anything with lower miles for the price, I looked for 2 months. No one smoked in this car either, and one older, an elderly couple. A few dings but it still smelled newish. And I love this vehicle! It’s huge, well big enough for me. I’ll never have to ask anyone to pick up anything that I get that’s to big for a sedan. The gas mileage is great and the car fax shows previous owner maintained oil changes and rotation of the tires. I’d much rather have it in red or black. This is the best used car I’ve ever had. Since it’s not a SUV or a truck, classified as a station wagon, insurance is very reasonable.

HHR is my favorite. Had 3, 2008, 2011, and now 2009. 2011 needed new transmission at 160,000 miles, but I drive em hard. 500 to 5000 ft in 30 min in pm and the reverse in am. Nice curved, fast road. Palmdale to LaCanada gran prix! Every week day between 6 am to 9 am. My car beats em all except maybe Porsche of course. The 2008 was the best for acceleration, 2009 the worst, 2011 in between. HHR is good climber. But yes rotors warp fast, especially when the road was closed due to bad fire and we had to use Tujunga canyon road, with very steep hairpin curves. Bad shaking after 5 miles straight downhill. Get new heavy duty rotors, ok again.
Great 1 person camper. Now have to take old husband so needing a different vehicle. HHR great for single person.

Rubber doesnt keep tension nearly as long as metal.
Many cars fail because the rubber timing belt will slip and cause the engine to be out of timing. If its not in timing, it wont start. Very hard to have a chain do that. Reason manufacturers have moved to rubber belts is because its cheaper, not because of reliability.

Very cool car. They are becoming hot collectibles. A fun, hip ride. Good for beach trips.

How to become an expert in less than 3. GO! You need to remove a front tire to replace the headlight bulb. STOP! Less than 3 minutes, right. Now you're an expert, now you know to stay away!

1Klooch no you don't just turn the wheel all the way to the opposite side and pop the panel out its easy af I have one and had to do it before

    • @1Klooch

Been that route 2 tx before, got the scars on the back of my hands to prove it. AND the panel does not "pop" out. It takes more effort than that. BTW a Franchised Dealer in my area charges $150.00 to change the bulb. Tell you something? I'll save the blood, sweat and tears and pull the wheel. Thank you very much.

Scotty Kilmer says stay away from this car, unreliable, head gasket problems, electrical problems, you name it its got it....by the way the guy with the jack hammer is warning you not to buy it also....funny how coincidence happens lmao

Scotty Kilmer is an intelligent person with his own opinions, but the HHR has proven to be a cheap set of wheels that does a lot of things well and can be driven into the ground. Stuff that breaks tends to be cheap to fix and nothing ever seems to actually take the car off the road. If I had 6 grand for a thrifty wagon I'd rather have a 1st-gen CRV personally, but I'd be happy with an HHR, right after I got a buyer's inspection at the Chevrolet dealer. If they says it stinks, get another one instead. It's the number 1 reason people have q bad experience with a used car is that they don't take it to the dealer that sells it new to get an inspection...instead, they negotiate in some guy's driveway or on some lot somewhere and live with the consequences.

You twerped uninformed dinks can't recognize the sound of a 1/2 air impact removing lug-nuts from the wheels in a shop. Cry yourselves to sleep.
