It's a well known fact that the Grand National was quicker than the Corvette and it wouldn't take a genius to figure out how damaging that could be for the legendary Corvette. Instead of GM putting an effort towards building a better Corvette, they just eliminated a more affordable and quicker car. Damage control at its finest.

And there's a very valid point as to why that is... Larger, sticky tires, and traction devices installed on the suspension make the car stick to the surface much more than any factory car.
