    I'm 75, and I remember the birth of go-karts. At first, as with mountain-bikes, there were no commercial manufacturers. A guy would make one in a high-school metal-shop class, welding together sheet-metal and pipes, and put a lawn-mower engine on it. The brakes were usually just metal paddles that rubbed against the rear tires. A little later, this trend was noticed by entrepreneurs who started manufacturing them. The first ones had drum-brakes and either a 4-stroke lawn-mower engine or a 2-stroke McCullough chain-saw engine (those were faster). McCullough was selling so many engines, they started making a line specifically for go-karts. I remember the mach-5, the mach-10, and the mach-20. The fastest karts had two mach-20s, one powering each rear wheel. And karts were starting to sport disc-brakes. The karts today look like they've inherited Indy-car genes.

    Went here for a buddys birthday, and purchased 5 races. I must say, I was exhausted and hands were covered in blisters after the first race lol. Track is fun but unforgiving

    I went racing today (I first went the day of Spacex launch but i wore wrong shoes) And i went today. I loved it but i was an idiot for not wearing gloves as i got two fairly big blisters from it but besides that it was fun. Raced two ten minute races (My first time racing, i'm a year older tmrw but they sadly aren't open on mondays)

      Happy birthday! Nothing better than getting some track time on or near your birthday. Gloves are a huge help not only with blisters but also with stopping the occasional rock/pebble from hitting your knuckles. You can usually pick up a good set of karting gloves for less than $50 on Amazon. Birthday money!

    Now I just need to see if they'll let me fly the drone to get some aerial shots of the new track!

      I thought it would've been neat to have the track in the Buc-ee's parking lot but no one listens to me.

    How did you get telemetry with the video (Speed and Map) ?

    • @PaulSlavonik
      @PaulSlavonik  4 года назад +1

      I used the GoPro Quik software and a GoPro 5. If you have the GPS setting turned on in the camera, it stores all of the telemetry data. Once you import it into Quik, you can turn on different display options such as the map, speedometer, g-force, altitude and such. There's other software such as RaceRender which does the same thing and I've heard that it's actually a lot easier to use.
