I went to Oahu to visit family, not as a true 'tourist'. I was impressed with downtown Honolulu. It was clean and lively and safe. It was surprising to see chickens downtown. Some of the streets lanes are rather skinny. It made me a little nervous when I was driving. I was sad to see all the homeless people. We did go to Big Island as tourist and were so amazed by the volcanos and the varied lava flows/fields and the ranches!
I felt the long dead embers of my heart rekindle. Like new breath. I now rejoice everyday that I live here on the Big Island and live my life renewed. I owe my life to Pele and I thank her with all my love.
I just went to Hawaii for the first time last month, and I was shocked by how beautiful it was. Photos and videos just don't do it justice. I was awestruck by how gorgeous it was every day of my trip!
I'm surprised that folks are shocked by the high end stores here and having the largest open air shopping center (Ala Moana). We are located in the middle of the Pacific surrounded by Asia, the U.S., etc. and conduct businesses internationally. I mean, even 'Iolani Palace had electricity in 1887 before the White House. We're quite modern here on O'ahu.
I don’t think these folks are that open minded, only see and bitch about what they want. I would have assumed travelers would have been more open minded and open hearted other than “shocked” beyond their comprehension.
Someone posted in another video (about shopping) that when they were growing up, 30 years ago, Ala Moana had more of the koi pond and less high end stores. So maybe people are reading outdated tour books / memoires?
I was soooo excited to be going to Hawaii. I almost expected it to not live up to my expectations. From my first morning there I was in awe, it was even more spectacular than I had imagined. People there are very friendly. Easygoing, willing to chat, but also very clear that statehood was not highly endorsed by the native Hawaiians. They were forced into a statehood they never asked for, after the islands were illegally seized by the US.
The reason why there are so much Asian influence in Hawaii is because by 1910, 90% of the Native Hawaiian population had died off from diseases brought to the islands. The owners of the sugar plantations needed cheap labor so they brought in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipinos, Puerto Ricans and Portuguese to work the plantations. The Japanese alone had brought in more than 200,000 workers, so by the early 1920's, the Japanese was the largest ethnic group in Hawaii. A lot of the local Asians you see in Hawaii today are the descendants of the plantation workers. The plantations are also where we got Hawaiian Pidgin English from, all the different groups working on the plantations needed a common language.
When i used to live in hawaii it was literally a house party almost every day. Someone was having some type of BBQ that lasted all day and night, it was the best. Great people and energy, plan to move back someday soon.
I lived in Honolulu.... this is all pretty accurate! The winter rain is no joke. I couldn’t walk to work those months. Also, you will VERY rarely every hear thunder or see lightning. Great video! ☺️
Hey riding in the back of a pickup truck was fun! We did it as kids! And yeah, if Asians bother you, Hawaii's not the place for you. Those "buses non-Japanese tourists can't get on" are chartered buses which are common. The public bus system isn't doing this, this is private tour companies. Ala Moana used to be a lot smaller but it was always about the biggest shopping center in the US. Those koi fish in the ponds, I literally grew up with those fish in that they were small when I was small, and we got big together over the years. As for the islands being different, just different parts of Oahu are very different. As for hiking, yeah it's a thing. We always did it barefoot. Never saw a wild pig. I've never heard anyone call those little sprinkles "pineapple rain" we always called it "liquid sunshine". I always knew Hawaii grows its own coffee because my older brother worked for a while picking it. As for Spam, it's great in saimin! And don't forget spam musubi.
My first visit was in 2013. The shockers for me were the high end stores on Kalakaua in Waikiki (Tiffany/ Chanel), the people riding in the back of pickups (did I go back in time to 1975??) the sand for on the beach at Waikiki is trucked in from elsewhere, and for the Big Island- they call it that for a reason! Everywhere takes so much longer to get to! When you talked about the rain, you forgot to mention the 2-to-4-inch-per-hour 'flash flooding' rain. We like that rain too. It is just amazing that that much liquid can fall from the sky!
This was a funny shocker for me...I grew up in CA. My Mom had this huge red hibiscus bush in the backyard. My first trip to Hawaii, imagine my surprise when I saw hibiscus in all different colors.
We were there in March. It was our first time there. I was amazed at the number of homeless on Waikiki beach. They would sleep tight in the beach and many stayed even when the beaches got busy during the day. HPD did a good job of making sure they didn't bother the tourists. Also we were amazed by and saddened by the size of the tent cities under the H1. Oahu was still gorgeous tho. We'd love to return and see Maui and the big island.
I’ve enjoyed many of your videos. My husband and I first visited Oahu in 1987 on our honeymoon. Our son lives there now and we’ve visited him a couple times, 2018 and 2019. We will be there again this fall. I was very surprised about the waves in winter and summer on different sides of the island and the different weather patterns. Love you guys!
Your videos feel like talking to friends which is really a good thing. Great information! My first trip to Oahu was in 2004 and the things that shocked me most were the Asian influence (being from the mainland, I wasn't aware at the time that Hawai'i is like four hours to Japan and many Asian influences also came from the labor brought in over a century ago), everybody was in the minority (which seemed to create more harmony), the love of Spam (we had one can of Spam growing up and I swear it stayed in the kitchen cabinet until I became an adult lol), rice with everything (goes back to the Asian influence) and the Spirit of Aloha (I was treated like family by pretty much everyone I encountered - aunties, uncles and cousins, was a lot of love). Mahalo.....
What shocked me the most when I came to Hawaii is how laid back people are and how nice the locals can be. Our last visit we've decided to stay by Waianae and that's an experience on its own. Best beach in the island, but need to know that its a different kind of atmosphere in that area. Even though we loved staying closer to local living, i felt bad that my kids didn't get to fully experience to be a tourist in Hawaii. Staying in Waikiki will be a better fit for your first visit, to get that full tourist experience. But the beach in Makaha which is only 10 minutes away from Waiamea is breathtaking!
My 1st time to Hawaii, Waikiki when my friend handy me a menu I saw Spam for dinner, my friend just laughed and he explained, that shocked me, it was the revolving restaurant, brought back great memories, I am thinking about moving there from New York, Chelsea
Aloha, from Las Vegas the 9th island. I miss the ala moana shopping center especially during the 90’s as a kid I had so much memories growing up in Hawaii Oahu . A lot has changed there 🥺 Great video! 🤙
I am visiting my daughter who has been stationed on Oahu for the last 5 years. I've been watching you to familiarize myself with island tips, customs however I am shocked by things I had no clue until today.
I’m visiting Oahu with my son in a few months. We’re planning a camping trip for a day or two and some hiking trips. We are super excited and counting down the days!!! What about a video for tourists listing things we Should NOT do in order to be respectful to the island and the locals? Kind of like Hawaii etiquette for tourists. I’ve been looking for informative videos like this to prepare in advance of our trip. Thank you & lots of love from Houston, TX. ♥️
When I was a kid California side I often rode in the back of the truck. I moved to Hawaii when I was 18 and never stopped. When I moved here in '90 there were a few super "High Class" shops at Ala Moana mall. It has changed about 15 times since I worked there in the '90s. Roosters & chickens don't bother me, I live in the country. I grew up surrounded by Asian people, and hung out with them Vegas side too. I ate Spam for the first time here. Grandpa had it too much in the War and it was never served in our home. I was around a lot of Malihini haoles before, some loved it here, others couldn't stand it, same with black people.
I love riding in the back of a truck with the wind through my hair ☺️ Technically it's not legal here, but it's fine on country roads where there's not much traffic at all.
@@Livingtheglobe if you were told it’s called pineapple rain, then you were fooled enough to believe it. It’s a passive aggressive way to make you look and sound like a total newcomer/tourist even after 3 years. Liquid sunshine. Never pineapple rain.
Your comment can be taken both ways, for all we know it can be called rainbow rain, would that be so far fetched? Maybe we’d be fools to believe anything we’ve ever been told, but what we can say is don’t shoot the messenger we don’t claim to know it all we just pass on what we were told on a tour guide. So if that is the case perhaps everything we were told on that tour was a lie, who’s to say. 🤷🏽♂️
@@Livingtheglobe I’m not shooting the messenger. I’m telling you that you were given wrong info. My comment cannot be taken both ways. I am telling you that folks in Hawai’i do not call it pineapple rain. Period. It’s advice from someone who was born and lives here all my life. Who’s to say? I say. You’re reluctance to take my advice (someone with decades more Hawai’i experience than you) is eye opening. Malama pono. Aloha.
I’ve never heard of “pineapple rain”?! Who calls the rain here that? I was born and raised here in Hawai’i and I’m 52 years old so I’ve been here A LONG TIME...Liquid Sunshine is more like it.
i was shocked by the amount of abandoned cars and homeless camps i saw on a drive thru the west side of Oahu. to see that among such beauty. Also how good spam cuisine could be! 🍱
One reason there are a lot of homeless people in hawaii is some of the US states have been giving their homeless people one way tickets to Hawaii because homeless people will never freeze to death in winter, if you don’t believe this you can go ahead and google it......”
I live just outside Dallas, TX. I was able to spend nine days on Oahu in February of 2016. I saw more rainbows during those nine days that I have seen in the five years since. My friend Tracy went on about the lack of brick buildings.
Dunno if there's public transit system on Kauai but there are buses on Maui & in Hilo/Kona. How's about it, Kauai? Any public transit system ovah dea?!
Not only do you see the same high-end and very expensive designer-brand stores, many of these are really big ones as well, being two or three stories tall. And there are multiple locations too, not far apart: big Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Harry Winston, Prada, etc. stores in both Ala Moana Center and in Waikiki too.
Fun fact: You're allowed to ride in the back of pickups in Arizona. 🌵 I think it has something to do with it not being able to extend to the Native reservations.
I went a few years ago to O’ahu and the things that shocked me most was the lack of seeing native Hawaiians and the drop in the Aloha spirit. I had been going to the islands since the 1970’s. The level of gentrification changes the feel as I had problems feeling I was truly welcome and not just a visitor. Prior, every truck or shuttle driver would Shaka each other as they passed. I stayed for 10 days and had only seen it once. Sad to lose that custom.
Wife has family in Oahu since the 80s. Been going to Maui and Oahu for the last 12. The amount of locals being vocal to me has increased dramatically over the years. So much hate. I live in Oregon and I tell visitors from Hawaii I would be rude and tell them to go back to the island but I do not. I remind them to teat mainlanders kindly.
Very sad to read that. Unfortunately it's happening everywhere. Not sure if it's evil that's creeping over everyone or it's just stress and overcrowding? We all can try to be kinder to strangers. A friendly attitude can make a huge difference to anyone.🙂🌸☻️💟
Shaka is NOT a custom! It's a Lifestyle/Attitude. Have numerous mainland friends visit that say when they go back to the mainland, they cannot get over the Mana/feel btwn Hawaii & mainland
Thank you guys for all your videos and touching on the homelessness issue, I live in Miami FL (very similar to Oahu, without the mountains & with a lot more rude ppl lol) but we have a lot of homeless ppl, I was so shocked to see how many Oahu had this past 3 weeks, wow 😱
You guys are about 30 years too late. Waikiki and Oahu was much different back in the 80s. It has changed for the worse. I lived on Oahu for 11 years from 80-91 .... The best time to be on Oahu. Waikiki used to be a long strip of bars. We partied till the sun came up. My last trip there was in 2010... I've been back to Hawaii many times since then, however, I only visit Kauai and Maui. Hope to be buying a home in Maui soon for retirement.... And those buses you mentioned that only allow Japanese tourist groups, used to be free. We used to call it the booze cruise bus. Because everyone would ride to Aloha Tower to party. Back then we had some great musical groups jammin at the Aloha Tower. Best time of my life....So grateful.
I listened to another video and spam became a thing during WW2. The Japanese were restricted from fishing so there was a food shortage. And the people embraced spam just as Native Americans embrace fry-bread. And I was also shocked yesterday when I accidentally rode(on my rented scooter) thru the main drag Waikiki. They are absolutely correct on all the high end stores there. Daaaanng.
You might think about your comment "seeing same stores on Hawaii", obviously you are talking about Oahu. Not all of Hawaii. I would just suggest you point out which island since it varies quite a bit overal. When you say "on Hawaii" it makes think of the Big Island.
Good job, guys! I clicked on this thinking you would be giving false information, but you are spot on! Weren't you also shocked that in many eateries, entrees come with rice? Here, we eat a lot of things with rice that mainlanders usually eat with potatoes or crackers such as chili and stew. It is also true about the Tacomas, but we like our Japanese vehicles in general. Toyota, Honda, and Nissan far outnumber American brands like GM, Ford and Chrysler.
Aloha! Thank you so much! Yesss! That one thing we missed is rice and mac salad as well lol Just today we had grilled salmon for lunch and it was served with rice. Never had salmon with rice (only sushi & poke lol)
Whoa, Asian people are welcome here, just like you. Lots of Asian folks LIVE here also. Giving vent to anything negative about them particularly at this time is just NOT aloha brah. Yeah got to know ya alright.
@@Livingtheglobe but ya did….how about all the lovely Mexicans, Portuguese, various other South Sea Islanders and all other assorted folks that just want to live here in peace. Didn’t mention them in your harangue. Is it just the Asians you have a beef with? You could have delivered your spiel without the negative Asian influence, but ya didn’t. Buses just for THEM, THEY are all over, etc. just didn’t sit well. Did you not say these things?
Pidgin... Irina and Devon, thanks for your videos. I am hoping to go for my first time ( I'm turning 65!), to Maui, in January 2023. My journey will begin thousands of miles away from every easterly point. Hope I will catch some rainbows!
I'm a local here in Hawaiian and lived here all my life but even i find your videos so informative!! I love it. Due to COVID a lot of nightlife in Honolulu has gone away. I miss it. Chinatown and even Kakaako has some great bars.
Many of these comments are presented as if applying to all the islands, but there are a number of them (like the catering to Asian tourists, high-end stores, etc.) that really apply almost solely to Oahu.
I lived here for 70 years, its changed from a very rural setting to an urban one. The pace of life is very fast, traffic is the second worst in the nation. We have only one political party in charge. The ocean is a dead compared to my youth. The cost of living is comparable to New York or San Francisco. Its no surprise we have a lot of Asians here. Many of us were brought over for our cheap labor.
II am visiting here for month of May from Ca. Have been coming for years and it is the most beautiful place. We stay in Waikiki. This is 5 weeks after opening up .We go to the beach at Hilton Hawaiian Village. Sad to see people smoking and drinking on the beach with their beer cans and coolers. Even in the water with the beer cans and bottles. What has happened to beautiful Waikiki ?
illegal to smoke and drink (State Law) on the beaches...you can call 911 (non-emergency) to report if you want to...i would gather to say they are the tourists who don't know the rules or look at the signs before stepping onto the beach...maybe they don't look up past 8 feet of a pole. .
Lot's of locals do that as well. We often see locals with huge tents set up on the beach, coolers filled with beer and some of them do smoke right of the beach as well.
that's at a Dodge/Jeep New Car Dealer in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu...chickens have run rampant since Hurricane Iniki back in 1992...when a lot of chicken coops were damaged and unleased the chickens and procreation happened... same on the other islands...
I lived on Oahu n the bigisland And was there when Volcano erupted, violent earthquake torrential rain n n severe lighting strikes N the evasion of the coqui looked frogs Maddening high pithed sounds destroyed bigislanders, rains constantly
Maui doesn’t have any of the things that are on Oahu! I don’t know of shopping areas that look as nice as Oahu. There is such a difference between the islands. Sadly we don't have a lot of the chain restaurants here Chinese is hard to come by. Pizza we have Domino’s, Round Table and Pizza Hut. The best areas are Wailea, Kaanapali and Kapalua. I was so shocked when I saw a RUclips video of Oahu. So many high rises and high-end stores. Its parks are beautiful too. I have never been there. It's a real city. I plan to visit though!
Polynesians trace their ancestry back to Southeast Asian is what I learned in school. I would assume that is why there is much Asian influence and tourism.
Ala Moana SC isn't an outdoor mall. It's the largest Open-Air mall. Most of your references pertain to WKK/downtown Honolulu. Hawaii is not JUST WKK/HNL. Get out & about, stretch your wings, and your perceptions, about 808. FYI...Every major island is, in essence, a separate county, being each island is divided by 35-95miles of water, so you cannot drive from one island to another. Being born/raised here, you never give that a 2nd thought. Do your research & enjoy this Island Paradise!
I feel like you two need to move somewhere else besides Waikiki. Your views are from a tourist perspective. I was born and raised there… Waikiki is a tourist trap and you don’t experience what it is really like if you live down town… that is a price sticker attraction for the tourists… not a local experience. If you actually lived somewhere besides downtown, you would realize it is very different then what you are seeing. Downtown is for tourists mainly! I don’t think you can call yourselves actual locals until you leave the tourist trap!
As we mention, we're not comparing we are speaking about our personal experience "living in Waikiki" so yes we are speaking specifically to tourists coming here in Waikiki. We've lived on the Big Island for 8 months so we get the country side of Hawaii, trust. We've stayed off the grid on the big islands so we've seen that side as well. But this was made for tourists to understand what they may see and experience when they come to Hawaii fro the 1st time. Mahalo
Asians have been in Hawaii for centuries as immigrants working in the cane and pineapple fields. Asian tourists spend more money per person than Americans. Who do you think Hawaii is going to cater to?
People dying while riding in the back of a truck is very, very, very very, very small, smaller and smaller compared to people dying inside of a vehicle. Rarely, rarely, rarely, rarely will people die while riding in the back of a truck according to Police Department. Drivers drive more defensive when they have people in the back of their truck.
The other people on the road don't drive any less defensive though. People inside of vehicles without seatbelts die a LOT more often in accidents than those wearing seatbelts. Did they mention that at the police department?
WHAT WERE YOUR EXPERIENCE LIKE WHEN YOU 1ST CAME TO HAWAII!?
Deffinately discrimination

The high prices of food and cost of living like gasoline, rentals and homes. Lots of visitors are shocked by these.

I love that there is no smoking on the beach. Nothing worse then playing in the sand and finding it is a huge ashtray.
Agree!
@@Livingtheglobe I live in Hawaii and some people smoke at the parking lot next to the beach they even smoke weed
Three roosters running across the street and one perched on a tire... I'm dead! 😂🤣😂
My first trip I drove east on Maui and was surprised by all the fruit trees. There was so much fruit it was falling into the road.
yes, we loved it as well!
WAIANAE🤞🏼 Home Of The Brave 💯
Years ago Hawaii had laws about living on the streets. I’m not sure why the government now doesn’t help the people in that situation.
I think many of them choose to stay on the steet
The roasters running free and no cars hocking at each other.🌴
i was shocked by the amount of abandoned cars and homeless camps i saw on a drive thru the west side of Oahu. to see that among such beauty. Also how good spam cuisine could be! 🍱
One reason there are a lot of homeless people in hawaii is some of the US states have been giving their homeless people one way tickets to Hawaii because homeless people will never freeze to death in winter, if you don’t believe this you can go ahead and google it......”
Kona has many more homeless hanging out around public beach access. Kinda ruins the whole paradise vibe you get when you think of Hawaii
I live just outside Dallas, TX. I was able to spend nine days on Oahu in February of 2016. I saw more rainbows during those nine days that I have seen in the five years since.
My friend Tracy went on about the lack of brick buildings.
We saw 4 rainbows yesterday :)
Can you please do a video on transportation on each island? Like other ways to get around without renting a car.
Aloha, Debbie! For other islands, we recommend to rent a car unless you are planning to stay in the resort the entire time.
I wouldn’t catch the bus. It’s worth getting a car.
Dunno if there's public transit system on Kauai but there are buses on Maui & in Hilo/Kona. How's about it, Kauai? Any public transit system ovah dea?!
Interesting info and it’s a great relief that no snakes on the island 👍👍🤗
Thank you for watching!
Not only do you see the same high-end and very expensive designer-brand stores, many of these are really big ones as well, being two or three stories tall. And there are multiple locations too, not far apart: big Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Harry Winston, Prada, etc. stores in both Ala Moana Center and in Waikiki too.
for sure!
Fun fact: You're allowed to ride in the back of pickups in Arizona. 🌵 I think it has something to do with it not being able to extend to the Native reservations.
Interesting!
@@mikethemechanic7395 it comes down to parenting, or the lack of...we can never let Aloha die...born and raised here on Oahu (over 60+)....
This year has gotten worse.
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing
Hi guys always a pleasure to watch your video
See y’all in 4 weeks
The first time I went to Hawaii back in 1969, the cab I took from the airport was a Cadillac convertible!
Wow! That is so cool!
The bloopers at the end tho-😭🤣🤣🤣🤣😭
hahaha
Yes! Love the bloopers! 😄
Thanks for the pidgin comment! Right on you guys!
Glad you agree!
You have such great information all the time. Mahalo!
The shipping fees are truly a SHOCK for me 😥😥😥
Yes and since Covid it’s getting worse
I listened to another video and spam became a thing during WW2. The Japanese were restricted from fishing so there was a food shortage. And the people embraced spam just as Native Americans embrace fry-bread. And I was also shocked yesterday when I accidentally rode(on my rented scooter) thru the main drag Waikiki. They are absolutely correct on all the high end stores there. Daaaanng.
Thank you! Love your channel! Excited to visit Oahu for the first time in June!! We will be staying in Royal Hawaiian Resort!!!
Awwww how awesome!!!!
You might think about your comment "seeing same stores on Hawaii", obviously you are talking about Oahu. Not all of Hawaii. I would just suggest you point out which island since it varies quite a bit overal. When you say "on Hawaii" it makes think of the Big Island.
Thank you, Cee!
The amount of amazing hikes shocked me. Thought it was just a beach destination.
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for all the infos, good job!
Mahalo
Feral chickens have gradually spread into urban areas in the last 20 to 30 years, and now they are common.
We did not say anything negative about Asian people, that's your negative interpretation.
Thank you so much for your wonderful informative video! You two are absolutely adorable! I’m a big fan!

“Pineapple Rain”
The locals call that style rain
“Liquid Sunshine”

I'm a local here in Hawaiian and lived here all my life but even i find your videos so informative!! I love it. Due to COVID a lot of nightlife in Honolulu has gone away. I miss it. Chinatown and even Kakaako has some great bars.
Thanks for sharing!!
Chinatown has also very high crime rate. Be aware.
Would love to go to Russia.. I’m Ukrainian but don’t speak it. I can’t wait to be in Hawaii though.. still have 5 months..
Many of these comments are presented as if applying to all the islands, but there are a number of them (like the catering to Asian tourists, high-end stores, etc.) that really apply almost solely to Oahu.
Yes mainly on Oahu where we live.🤙🏽
Enjoy your vibes! Could you tell us any hints coming in for the day from a cruise 11:00 to 11:00pm? Plan on taking the Waikiki Trolley Redline. Mahalo
You can spend the day at the Polynesian center or do an island tour!
Hawaiian vegetables rice, corn and Mac salad.
Staple.
very useful info,thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful videos! We have been to Hawaii 5 times but not since 1991. We miss going.
When you see roosters and chickens on the streets in Oahu, you're are seeing yours or someone's future meal.
Probably 🤣
I lived here for 70 years, its changed from a very rural setting to an urban one. The pace of life is very fast, traffic is the second worst in the nation. We have only one political party in charge. The ocean is a dead compared to my youth. The cost of living is comparable to New York or San Francisco. Its no surprise we have a lot of Asians here. Many of us were brought over for our cheap labor.
Thank you
II am visiting here for month of May from Ca.
Love the pic of the Rooster on the Jeep tire!
The best!
that's at a Dodge/Jeep New Car Dealer in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu...chickens have run rampant since Hurricane Iniki back in 1992...when a lot of chicken coops were damaged and unleased the chickens and procreation happened... same on the other islands...
Yas! 😂😂😂
Love these videos, they’re so helpful whilst planning a trip!

I lived on Oahu n the bigisland
And was there when Volcano erupted, violent earthquake torrential rain n n severe lighting strikes
N the evasion of the coqui looked frogs
Maddening high pithed sounds destroyed bigislanders, rains constantly
Wow! Glad you are ok!
Thank you for sharing, Joanie!
When I first saw Honolulu, it seemed like L.A. on a barge.
The size and amount of roaches. When looking down as I walked along the canal and the floor moved and then flew at us. That shocked me!!!
Yes , they are huge!
How much better the Pineapple is there. They be keeping the good stuff.
It is so sweet!
Polynesians trace their ancestry back to Southeast Asian is what I learned in school. I would assume that is why there is much Asian influence and tourism.
Interesting point!
Thanks for the informative video!

Yayyyy!!!!!
@@Livingtheglobe made it to Hawaii 😭😭😭 thank y’all for all the tips and advice!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm gonna guess one is that there are no door on the stalls in the public beach bathrooms. That always shocked our mainland relatives.
All public ladies bathrooms have doors :)
@@Livingtheglobe no they don't. Unless you haven't been to a regular public bathroom. The beach ones are taken better care of.
That would be shocking. ☺️
Pineapple rain?? I don't know one person that calls it pineapple rain...well not us locals from the islands🤙🏽
That’s for the info brother perhaps we were given wrong information 🤙🏽
Mahalo
I was shocked that so many people thought that we were locals… we’re from Alaska.
Oh, wow, you blend right in :)
Asians have been in Hawaii for centuries as immigrants working in the cane and pineapple fields. Asian tourists spend more money per person than Americans. Who do you think Hawaii is going to cater to?
Yes, David, you are right! We just did not expect to see so many Asian tourists when we came here for the first time.
The dude got his shaka sign backwards.
Are you shocked about the monster roaches?
😂😂😂no they have them in New York lol
@@Livingtheglobe can the NY roaches fly?
People dying while riding in the back of a truck is very, very, very very, very small, smaller and smaller compared to people dying inside of a vehicle. Rarely, rarely, rarely, rarely will people die while riding in the back of a truck according to Police Department. Drivers drive more defensive when they have people in the back of their truck.
The other people on the road don't drive any less defensive though. People inside of vehicles without seatbelts die a LOT more often in accidents than those wearing seatbelts. Did they mention that at the police department?
