Where does she go? She doesn't seem mentally well as is, what will happen if she doesn't make it? For some reason I don't think she'll just happily retire... I'm scared for her. You don't understand how it works in Russia.
Your coach (or your boss) usually tells you "You must run 100m/sec" and you both know, it means, that you have to run as fast you can and you must do it right now.
And you both know, if he tells "You have to run 10m/sec", it means that you can go and drink coffee, read magazine and then you can run for your own joy. Something like that.
Eteri said Alyona have to do 3A, because they both know, she will not do anything without this request. She didn't do anything with her 3A during 8 months with "Hot Sergey" (he is not so demanding). In fact, now Alyona trains 3A only with "safety rope" and nobody gone to kick her out.

The thing that gets me the most about this is the fact that kostornaia has faced such backlash i guess, all before she turns 18. I guess you could say it is the nature of the sport but half the skaters aren't even old enough to vote and yet they can be put through all this. BTW good video and if anyone replies, thanks for your opinion.

Nobody is “attempting” quintuples, they are doing it as exercise to help their rotation. Just as Alina Zagitova wasn’t training quad flip.
Last year there was whole bunch of kids in Russia doing that, so journalists asked Yagudin about it and he said that he did the same in the 90s as a kid, that it’s impossible to land and nobody is doing it seriously.

I'm worried for her, I don't know that much about the details of her time with Plushenko, but I don't see how this change can be good for her. Even though she's currently not in great shape, it seems to me she will (out of desperation) work herself to death these next two months, and in two months time will be dropped from the team, left feeling even more hopeless than before.
Something else I noticed, is that Plushenko's wife claimed Kostornaia first came to Plush in poor health. This was before the covid, and combined with Kostornaia's allegations of Eteri being abusive, makes me wonder if some part of Eteri's regimen was what caused Kostornaia's poor health. If that's the case, then it not only worries me to see the still unwell Kostornaia return to that environment, but also that she did it WILLINGLY AND KNOWINGLY. It shows her level of desperation, and lack of care about her wellbeing. Truly a very worrying sign for one's mental health, especially at that age.

Definitely Aliona is with Eteri, the 2-month test is in order to set goals for Aliona, Eteri knows that Aliona can recover her 3A, and needs to challenge her. Because her lack of challenges made her lose the 3A, and it is not her age as they say. Tuktamysheva is 24 years old and she can do the triple axel. Tuktamysheva is almost the same height as Kostornaia and even weighs more. Eteri knows that she has to challenge Aliona, and Aliona will respond. Aliona will get the 3A back. Eteri knows her very well. The rest of the people are just specs. Eteris girls come in groups but i always end up loving one or two out of the three or four girls, and Julia, Evgenia, Aliona, Anna and Daria are my faves. Julia had her tragic retirement and sickness; Evgenia had that silver lil medal on the Olympics, went to Orser and then back and stuff; Aliona got sick and it looks like she´s a very emotional girl and reacts too fast to things -its costing her a lot, this new trial conditions FRIGHTEN me-. And those are the ones who have 17 and over. Im seeing a pattern.
    -
Meanwhile 16 and under: Anna is doing great, shes so unproblematic what an angel; and same for Daria so far.
Im sad, looks like the pattern is bound to repeat itself, and im always more about the artistic skater that shines, meanwhile i see most people have this winner or record-breaker mindset and love Alina, Sasha and Kamila (funny enough, the ones i care about the least, dont ask me why, they are great i just dont feel them) so i feel kinda alone and worried... Being technically excellent isn't everything in figure skating. Consistency, reputation, also are factors when judging. Tell me, why Kolyada has only one bronze in worlds despite him being technically excellent? This guy's technique is one of the tops. Miles better than Uno. Cause he was known to be inconsistent and not that strong mentally. He often splat his 4Lzs which make his score go lower, then his programs was not that good. Being consistent is one of the reason why a sportman can win his battles. Kolyada can won a medal in Pyeongchang had he mentally strong, consistent and has enough quads to compete. And He didn't.
Medvedeva isn't known to be technically strong (we all know of her flutzes after all). But guess what, she was damn consistent and that translate to her reputation, further improving her scores.
Now can Kostornaia go to Beijing? What she needs is being healthy enough, then she needs to make that 3A consistent enough for judges to score her high. But can she won RusNats without quads? She probably won't unless one of the current 3 mess up a lot. Even Rika started to trains her 4Sal iirc. Technically strong 3A alone won't generate enough points for her. Russian ladies is just simply another war front. Either you quads or you quits. But eh, can these little girls maintain their quads till olympic at least? I hope so, else it would be such a waste for them

In order to 'quality' for olympics, she needs to be at least get bronze at RusNats OF the olympic season (which means next season RusNats), because nationals are the qualifier if one wishes to compete at worldwide level aka 4CC, EU Comps, and ultimately Olympics. Securing 3 spots for Russia in Stockholm should be easy enough if the ladies are clean.
To the Russian ladies, Nats is a bloodbath they have to overcome to reach that place. For Kostornaia to win bronze she needs to edge out Scherbakova, Trusova, AND Kamilieva who will go up senior next season. A very high wall to overcome.

Nobody cares about what you say.
Kostornaya had 3A with Etteri team. that is a fact. Etteri, Glikenhause and the rest of coaches built her that 3A " gold card". Solid, powerful and with sweet exit. She had 3A as standalone jump and in combination with 2T. That what gave her the gold medal at the 2020. Got it? she was in the lead because she had it- she could do the Ultra C 3A both short and free programs. That is the only reason she won. That and the fact that she is lazy and she admits Etteri had to run her ass on the ice time after time during trainings at season 2019.
She moved to " Mr Long nose , big mouth, using money from his wife, no name coach" - and lost it all. HE never forced her to train, never forced her to do cardio. She would have never, ever, ever be allowed to be as lazy as she is if she trained at Etteri team. Trusova during covid19 in Intgrm= 4 trainings of Cardio per day, push ups with her brother sitting on her. So she got RIPPED. Valieva = 4 trainings of cardio per day. Sherbakova- as well, till she got Covid19. But Kostornaya was eating icecream all day long.... And her cardio went down. HARD. Forget that all. IF she had the same program as she did at finals of 2020 - she would have taken the gold and not Sherbakova. Hell if she could have the cardio - and passed the draw of RF skating - she could have taken 2nd palce.
Actually I would love to see her back with 3A.
But she decided to run after Trusova to that ....
But that is ok. Etteri Tutberidze knows it all. This is not her first rodeo. So she makes progress every day with new skaters...
There is a new age coming. The age of Valieva. She has 3A, she has quads and she is at the right age. I see Olympic medal with some shiny color with her.
Enjoy the first ever made 3A with RIPPON

i think you are missing one thing. if Aliona doesn't get her triple A back that would be prove that Eteri was WRONG. and the God is never wrong;) it would mean that she made a mistake taking her back, investing time in her etc. And also that her daughter was wrong to ask for a chance for Kosto.
The most likely scenario is that now she will push Alona to get 3A. Prove that she is The ONLY coach who can do magic;)) the cost is irrelevant because there is really no room for Kosto at the team. The other girls are just Simply better than her (and younger ofc) Alona will pay for leaving Eteri and for Sashas leaving too (because in fact it was Sasha's departure that had to drive Eteri mad). At the end od The day new Queen at tutberidze team is Kamila and after her is Anna so Alona will be only pawn in the hierarchy.
Eteri wants to have all her girls podium and now when Sasha is at Plushenko team makes IT event harder. Because Trusova is getting better and could event win world's;)

Aliona still has a chance if she gets her 3A back, didn’t she win in the international competitions against the other 2A??? And I think it’s because of her skating skills that are far superior than Anna’s and Sasha’s. I think if she does pull this off she will be competing against them for the last spot. Because let’s be realistic, Kamila pretty much has one spot, another one will go to Daria or Miia and the last spot will be for one of the 3A, and we already know that by international judging Aliona can win, obviously if she can get back in shape in time for the upcoming Olympic season.

I don’t know why some coaches take it personally when students leave them, I do understand that students sometimes may say things like when Kostornaia said she smiled more with Plushenko, but Eteri is ruthless when kids leave her. Kids. She talks trash about them everywhere she can. For example, Zhenya, whose situation is obviously very similar to Alena’s; Zhenya is really a tough cookie, having the entirety of Russia ripping her down and calling her a traitor for going to Orser, but she lived through it. BASICALLY, if I was a figure skater in Russia, I would ALWAYS be crying, especially if I was team Tutberidze. These girls are so strong, I know they’re used to it, but there definitely has to be a breaking point to everything.

As coaches we are also mentors. We know every aspect of our pupil's lives (and sometimes know more than the parents do!) It's a very close bond, and for me it was like having almost adoptive kids. Everything they felt, I felt.
If they left I felt heartbroken, and it was really hard to cope with as I put 110% into every kid, as I cared so much.
