Thanks for the instructions! Just did the same process on my DTC-790 which i bought used a few years ago. I only tested it then and discovered that it did not play the tape. Finally got roud to take it apart today. Awesome to have a guide to work by👏🏻 The black gear with the screw were the culprit. The greas was like glue, so I had to really soak it in alcohol to get it loose. Works like a charm now🤩
A magic transformation from a heap of metal to a fully functional piece of electronic equipment. Skill and experience in their spectacular form. Fascinating to watch.
I have a PCM-R300, and almost exclusively, I have used the “DDS” 3 hour tapes without any difficulties… hundreds of DDS-90 Meter tapes. In fact, when you put in such a tape, a sensor comes up on the display that briefly says “thin”, as the tape is loaded. The issues I’ve had with my deck involved the clips that hold the threading gears; they crack, the gears fall out of time, and the threading mechanism goes out of alignment. (“CAUTION” warning message). I ended up buying a broken deck as a spare parts bin, to keep my deck running properly.
Mine was a dtc790 and it didn't like the dss tapes much. Mine was pretty high mileage but it would nibble on the thin tapes but regular tapes were fine. I sold it about 7 years ago. Had it listed for months for 100 and got 50 for it. Considering that I bought 2 tascam da40 for 20 bucks each i guess i did ok.
Dave, first happy new year and I got a strange question for you. I had a shipment delivered the other day. It was suppose to be a XLR to 3.5mm adapter. What showed up was 10 pieces of a 90 deg. coax adapter. They don't have a part number on them and maybe you could help me find out what they're called. coax adapters with about a 1/2" dia. twist collar on them on one end with a threaded end on the other. I've contacted the company that sent them and I'd like to help identify them. Thanks.
I got to the black wheel by removing the transport. But is there a way to fix it without having to take the entire thing apart? I see the black wheel and the couple of whites. Can I just blow some hot air inside or use a qtip with alcohol and reach inside? And then use some WD-40 with the small straw to reach the gears?
I've got a DTC-790 with a weird problem. The right guide is stuck in the LOADED position at all times. Would you be able to fix it and if so how much would it cost me?
Hello I bought a unit in working conditions however it does not have feet Do you happen to know where can I get 4 of these ? If not do you mind sharing dimensions and pictures on where they go on the unit and west screws are needed Many thanks
Was the bad smd-capasitor issue resolved before year 2000? Some car ecu's from 80's and 90's suffered from that problem and i have wondered if my 2004 car could be affeted by it. The car model started 2002
that's probably 20 years old I've had it awhile and no they don't make it anymore this particular model they made for one year and then they discontinued it so good luck finding one they're out there if you want to pay about three times what I paid for it which was $150. it was the most expensive Casio watch that they made at the time. They had lots of plastic ones but this one's all stainless steel solar powered and sets itself from the atomic clock in fort Collins Colorado

If you Google coax adapter 90 degree you will be presented with all the different coax adapters with their correct numbers.

smashing repair dave, well worth your time.
I was surprised by the head cleaning method.
Plastic seems a bit risky to me.
Iron harder than plastic.
Is 91% rubbing alcohol okay? Or do I need higher?

Wouldn't know if i could fix it unless I had it on the bench.
Hello
I bought a unit in working conditions however it does not have feet
Do you happen to know where can I get 4 of these ?
If not do you mind sharing dimensions and pictures on where they go on the unit and west screws are needed
Many thanks
Couldn't tell you. This was a ship in and it was shipped back years ago
Do you offer service on video and audio ?
Thanks
Yes
Another interesting piece of equipment.
Dats all folks.

Yes it was resolved in late 90s
Hey Dave how old is your watch? Looks like one they don't make anymore! Is it that old??

Which Molycote grease do you use?
Couldn't tell you. It came with pinch roller kits. It's just yellow lithium soap grease afaik.
Knowing what i know about mechanics, my first choice would have been some kind of stop leak!😅😅😅
Yes they are all crooks.
Where did you get that work pad?
Bangood
