Great story, beautiful Champ. The sedan paint scheme is awesome. I have my dad's Champ he bought in 1961.

Great little airplane- flew in one as a kid. Neat thing is that you can fly it solo from the front seat, unlike a Cub.

You can fly a cub from the front seat. Just put 150 lbs behind you.

True, but not many flyers had 150 lb dead weights sitting around ; and if you did, you had better strap that weight in well; 'cause a little turbulence could easily send it bouncing around very unpleasntly!@@jamesstephenpeyton3305

    Beautiful Aeronca.
In 1958 my Dad got his pilot’s training in an Aeronca Champ here in San Juan, and then got his solo flight in a Cessna 172 (this one did have a radio).
I remember it well because I was 9 years old and he went to take his classes on Sundays and of course, I waited around the flying school while he took them.
Afterwards when he had the license we went up many times in a rented 172, such fun!
But everything began with the venerable little Aeronca.

Myron, It didn't hit me a few months ago when I stopped in at the garage for a few minutes that it was your Dads plane. You and Doug did a really great job on its rebuild. It just struck me that many years ago at a Chapter meet there at Soughton Otis took me up for a ride in that plane - it did look different then. He did let me try landing it as my first dragger landing but afterword we agreed that I wouldn't kill anyone but please don't take any movies of it. Again great job. Jim Martin

Such a wonderful beautiful aircraft. Along with the J-3 Cub, the Aeronca Champ is among my favorite vintage aircraft.

That has to be the best looking paint scheme Ive ever seen on a Champ, definitely more attractive than the factory yellow and orange paint job.

I'm rebuilding a 1964 Champion 7fc but converting to conventional gear.
If mine looks half as good as yours I will be happy.

I owned a 7AC tricycle landing gear champion. That airplane rolled out from assembly line with that landing gear configuration. I flew the airplane for about 3 years. Then I sold it and finally a freaken idiot broke the lil airplane in Mexico, killing himself and hurting badly the guy seating in the back. Should you want some information on that airplane, can contact Buzz Wagner at Aeronca pilots association. Your champ looks like a new one. Keep up the great work.
