The Calamity Mod is a large content mod for Terraria which adds many hours of endgame content and dozens of enemies and bosses dispersed throughout the vanilla game's progression. Speaking of perfectly balanced against the DoG, try True Biome Blade. Despite it only being Astral tier in progression, it ends up being a hard counter to this boss with the right combination.

@@biglion3179 actually I am talking about swordsmith's pride (primary) and sanguine fury (passive) combo. You heal a LOT from hitting the segments and it does solid damage.

This weapon is "perfectly balanced" for its stage, but if you don't have a good PC (i dont), the lag might kill you before DoG does.
@xIcyStarzz Probably because Calamity inst the only thing that is using that 8 ram, Like the Tmodloader itself, other mods that you may have installed, and your pc
@xIcyStarzz Terraria is literally the opposite. I have friends that play with very old laptops that have 4 gb of ram and a low end cpu and no graphics card and, with some adjustments to the graphics, we can even play tmod together (i'm not the server owner usually)
I like how stupidly op some weapons are with bosses like dog but struggle with fast bosses like Yharon. Calamity should just buff the crap out of post ml frost moon, pumpkin moon and solar eclipse but give existing neglected weapons a 4x power upgrade during those events.
Edit: A power boost for events would not be a good idea lol just increased damage against certain monsters of those events (like stake launcher -> vampires) but with more enemies.

Banshee hook is probably the best weapon against DoG. Pair it with solar amour (which, for whatever godforsaken reason lets you dash 1.5x faster than any other armour in the game, and you hit 40k+ dps easily.

I did some testing, and Terror Blade is a better dps option if you can hit the head. Death's Ascension is better if you want to turn your brain off, and play like a Summoner/Ranger.
Death's Ascension was incredibly cool, but imo it was also pretty bad. Terror Blade outclasses it in basically every way besides true melee, and even then its a steady incredibly high dps vs consistent hits that chunk their hp

It's right click benifits from melee speed boosts. That's all I needed to make it broken.

I used this weapon to just grind out bosses when I need some mats from lower-tier bosses lol. Its a VERY good grind weapon.
I just defeated DoG today with Death Ascension's left click

I had my doubts about this video so I went and did some testing with deaths ascension vs. terror blade. Here are the results:
Gear:
Bloodflare armor
Elysian wings, Elysian aegis, Fire Gauntlet, Celestial Shell (at night), The Absorber, Bloodflare Core, and The Community (Powered to Old Duke). 3 on menacing, 3 on warding, 1 on quick.
Bobbit hook
Pogo stick
Buffs: Burger, Gravity Normalizer, Profaned Rage, Holy Wrath, Shattering, Titan Scale, Fabsol's Vodka, Cadence, Nature's Blessing, Swiftness, Yharim's Stimulants, Soaring.
Expert-Revengeance Mode
Terror Blade Reforged to Legendary:
Kill Time: ~2:30
Average dps: ~50k
Deaths Ascension Reforged to Godly:
Kill Time: ~3:54
Average dps: ~25k
Keep in mind, I did all of this ripperless (no adrenaline/rage), did 3 separate kill tests on each weapon, and used Cal helpers mod to calculate time and average dps. It seems to me as if you didn't do proper testing, or any testing at all for that matter. As far as I'm concerned, deaths ascension is genuinely balanced. Whereas terror blade is "perfectly" balanced. Also important to note that Terror Blade's best reforge is Legendary whereas Deaths Ascension's best reforge is Godly. The fact that there are different reforges named does not mean that I intentionally nerfed deaths ascension to prove a point.
hmmmm, I might've screwed with the testing because I didn't use god mode and I probably didn't aim my Terror Blade properly since I focused too much on dodging and probably kept hitting its body instead of head or tails, I always go for Terror Blade instead of Death Ascension when it didn't exist (hence why I highly recommend it in my melee setup guide video)
I'm well aware of Terror Blade being really good, but I think Death Ascension is overally more versatile, I love its ability to just home to Devourer's head from its body

@@GitGudWO I would like to say that I didn't use godmode at all in my testing. And I believe the difference is that you simply fight devourer in a different way. Whereas I try to stay lined up with him, it seems as if you don't do that (at least from this video). Perhaps that's where the issue stems from.
I'd also like to say that, although deaths ascension is much much easier to use, I still find it better to just learn terror blade and use it. Here's why: due to deaths ascension's lower dps output you will be spending more time in p2, resulting in at least 4 laser walls, and more time in final phase (a god does not fear death). These are the most dangerous parts of the fight and spending more time on them just so you can use an easier weapon seems like a poor choice in my eyes. Terror blade gives you a max 3 laser walls and much less time in final phase. This makes deaths less likely to occur. When I was doing my testing I died with deaths ascension a few more times than with terror blade because of that fact and, not to toot my own horn, I'm more or less an experienced player.

It is weird because I use death's ascension against polterghast and it sucks but post Providence weapon, True Tyrant Ultima sword does much more damage, but Death's ascension against devourer of gods is just devouring the devourer of gods

hit boxes are affected but you can change that in the configs
i tried the cooler visual item effect mod and it makes my hud disappear everytime i use a weapon to fight against Dog

I don't know why, but sometimes this weapon glitches and its modifiers give things like -71% damage and +∞% (yes, infinity percent) knockback.

I crafted this and I haven't had defeated the Profaned Guardians, and they gave me a quick one which apparently deletes 79% of its dmg...

If you can time adrenaline properly, terror blade is much better for DoG. But all 3 are a great choice
f*** all weapons, the arks and biome blades can carry you the entire game.
Combing it with the enchantment from fargos souls that makes it 3x bigger and your DPS skyrockets, I got around 28k DPS with it

Just know how much effort the Calamity Devs have put out to prevent broken and cheesy weapons from other mods, and then they release THIS LOOOL.

While not for Melee, another DoG killer is Wave Pounder for Rouge, especially if you have a stealth strike focused build, completely shreds DoG on Revengeance. You can get through the first 'phase' in just 4 hits, it's a complete *nuke* of a weapon!

uhhh what? I tried using this on DoG in my melee playthrough but when I lined dog up horizontally by running and used terror blade I did about 3x the damage I would with deaths ascension on each body part
I'm well aware of that yes, Terror Blade was always my go to melee weapon (hence why I highly recommend it in my melee setup guide), Terror Blade has really good DPS but it has a downside of being harder to use as you need to aim properly for Devourer's head or tails, meanwhile funny Death Ascension you can just spam your weapon and focus on dodging

Cool, i'll use it in my journey mode infernum melee playthrough i am currently doing. I will definitely need this "perfectly balanced" weapon to beat DoG knowing my skills, i can't even beat journey expert DoG
well it really is a perfectly balanced weapon, the only thing that makes it broken are the death scythes sticking to the enemies, continuous damage weapons is really one of my favorite weapons to abuse bosses with huge or have a lot of hitboxes lmao
That type of weapons can melt most bosses from mods since THERE IS QUITE THE WORM BOSSES or very huge bosses that occupy a lot of screen
The new sword visual is nice, but it absolutely ruined my true melee playthrough because the last mourning’s dps is not good with how slow it is with the mod.
The fact that this is pre DoG is mind baffling.

Hi i have a question yesterday i Start a new world with a new charatcter in calamigy mod and the Revenge item does not appear in My inventory (i AM in expert mode)
They removed all the difficulty items. There should now be an icon near your health that you can click on (don't know if it's left click or right click) to change between the Calamity difficulty modes. Might only show up while your inventory is open.
