I have only had this Aklot banjo for about a week so far but has quickly become my favorite banjo! The maple neck looks and feels great! Since it is open backed, it is much lighter than any of my four resonator banjos. That makes it much easier to kick back on the couch and play. For an entry-level banjo, it is well worth the money!
I bought one of these to learn claw hammer banjo on. I make most of my instruments, but this was reasonably priced, and it sounds good, too. Thsnks for the video!
Jeez. You're getting quite a bevy of banjos. I'm kinda partial to the open back models and the lighter wood finish. I also really like the way they did the armrest. I think this one is my favorite so far... aesthetically anyway.
Hi Steve after watching your video Hi I brought the same banjo I think I have a problem the the chrome tale cover do yo have to lift it off the strings also there a gap on one side its not fitting on the drum rim any idea please
Hi Peter, sorry for the late response. The tailpiece typically pushes down on the strings to improve the break angle over the bridge. I'm not sure what to say about your other issue without seeing it. Hopefully, you have it sorted out by now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Typical tuning is gDGBD, but there are others. I typically tune it gDGBE and play the four long strings just like a guitar. Thanks for watching and commenting!
😂 Apparently I'm 3yrs behind... December 2024, I just purchased this after setting aside a Bango-Mandolin to learn the banjo before picking the Bango-Mandolin back up... Seems like a found reasonable winner 😉
Hi, Peter. Good question! I would say, not really. The instrument was not made for steel strings. If an instrument does not have a truss rod, the neck is apt to bow over time due to the increased string tension of steel strings. That said, you might get away with it for years before having a problem. Since Kmise banjoleles aren’t that expensive, you might be willing to take a chance.
@@stevesstrings5243 thanks for your fast response, i just checked on google as i'm typing its listed as having a trust rod, Preset with truss rod inside the neck ,i like your reviews down to earth no bull keep safe , peter.
Hey folks --- was just between various things -- stopped by between project efforts -- as always I enjoyed the look at toys -- you know the address to ship them too, right? Anyway - keep on unboxing and playing and I will keep on following along :) bob
Frankly, I was shocked how little this banjo costs. For what little is costs, one could remove and refinish the neck and heel so they look alike along with replacing those guitar tuners with planetary banjo tuners and still be under budget. Maybe it's just me but I'd also get rid of that gawd awful ugly name on the headstock.

Hi Sue, I saw your St. Patrick's day themed builds. They are awesome! This banjo is one you will be glad to have in your collection!
I love the look of plain maple all over the instrument.
Me too! It both looks and feels great! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hi Steve I have a Kmise 4 string banjole, is it OK to replace the nylon strings with steel banjo strings

Thanks! If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out.
Can you make a video of putting the strap on
