    Most people don't understand who Hachiman really is and they think they are like him.
    Hachiman is a hypocrite and he knows it himself that he is. He does the exact opposite of his ideals, he is a self-proclaimed loner because he doesn't want to be hurt or rejected, yet he still saves other by sacrificing himself even tho he hate the society.

    8man will prolly be my favorite character ever. He's realism and philosophies hit home for a lot of people, and honestly he's not wrong. His character and the role he plays in this show really shows the real struggle of a loner and how they struggle to change even in the real world. "I want something genuine" is the greatest line in this entire show.

      Can't really blame people. I bet a lot of people that love this show do it because they see a bit of themself in Hachiman..mainly the lonely awkward guy that truely just want to be liked but keeps getting themself into even worse situation thanks to either bad social skills or bullying.
      I can't say I don't see myself in him as well. AInt gonna go out and say I am especially smart or reliable like he is because I am not but him putting up barriers to protect himself, pretending to be fine with being alone and being the bad guy despite it hurting him like crazy..and hating oneself thanks to feeling like you are actually in the wrong..well..that probably hits a lot of people very close to home so they relate to him..and wish to be like him..

      But normal people who are lonely can't really live forever without caring for social interactions like an anime character. So they wish to be as strong as him, even if it's impossible. I think that's just it.

    The anime helps a person think and Hachiman's philosophy is true in many aspects because he doesn't fall prey to the standards of the M.C or real life expectaions. In reality he wears only one mask while he see's everyone else 2 faced or hiding behind something. He see's the world in truth, it's real colors, it really makes a person think and see the world differently then what average people would normally see it.

      If you think Hachiman always saw the truth then you're as self deceptive as he was. Sure, some of his philosophies are true, but to say he always saw the truth with the people around him is false. He assumes the worst of everyone around him, to preserve his own peace of mind. He viewed Yukino as a strong girl, which turned out to be wrong. He only ever saw Yui as a nice girl, which also was wrong. It was only by spending time and getting to know their true selves, that he was able to see that his assumed perception of them were both wrong. That's what the story is trying to convey. If you want something genuine, you have to be willing to get hurt. Be emotionally vulnerable. Showing your true feelings as best as you can, communicate it as best you can when they don't get it.. etc.
      He's been hurt by others mostly due to his own expectations, and so he makes sure to not think too highly of people so he doesn't get hurt again. This kind of mentality is toxic and the show was trying to say that Hachiman's way of thinking is wrong. He may think he sees the world without bias, but the truth is he still is. Because he takes out the emotion side of things and only looks at people and treats them with logic. He thinks he's seeing the truth, but he isn't seeing the big picture. Because the reality is, people aren't cold calculating machines. Well unless you're a psychopath/sociopath. People's thoughts, actions and feelings most of the time are never the same. Emotions aren't logical.
      I'll give an example. Hachiman "thought" that by pushing Yukino and Yui away by doing everything himself, he would protect them because he "cares" about them. However, they perceived his actions as showing he doesn't care about them which hurt them.

    • @SHRADIS
      @SHRADIS 3 года назад +1

      @@Filimaua13I guess truth isn't so much the appropriate term to use, if anything he sees a side of people no one else is willing to see, and yes he may have been wrong in certain aspects in certain judgments of the people around him but he's also seen right through them. When I say truth I mean it as a way of what lies underneath a person when certain actions come in to play

    Thanks for that AMV that gave me chills and a bitter smile on my loner face.
    I really think that "we", loners, really understand 8man (and the author) because we live (or lived) the same thing.
    Or at least, we realized that we were fooling ourselves and playing roles just to not be alone, and prefered turn back to fake people to try to be our true selves.
    I personnally prefer being myself, cynical as fuck, realistic, caring but alone than to be a fake smiler surrounded by fake "friends"...
    If two loners meet, do they become friends ?
    Imo no, because they wouldn't be loners otherwise.
    That's what I thought when I was dreaming about having an acquaintance like 8man...

    • @PapaFool
      @PapaFool 7 лет назад +48

      Horia Popescu Some of that may be true, but I think saying that most people don't care about you is going a bit far, a lot of people will care about you but I would have to say that maybe your closest friends won't, and the pain afterwards will depend on how emotionally attached you are too that person, my advice is, don't trust easily, idc how many times you laugh with the guy/girl, or how many times you two go out on amusement parks or malls, never trust easily. My ideology is that people will refuse to believe that the life they live now is a lie and choose to believe the wonderful lie they live in now, they won't listen to us, won't even acknowledge us. It's better to stay quiet and keep your own space, not saying be alone forever, maybe one day you'll find that special someone, don't be emo, but also don't be too social, be anti social but not too social, if that makes any sense. My advice is whatever you feel like you need to move on from, then try to. Because ik the least thing anyone wants is to worry about others, other than your own family of course.

    Sometimes I wonder how much people really understand Hachiman as a character. He doesn't enjoy being alone, being that I've read parts of the light novel which has internal monologue the anime leaves out, Hachiman frequently hints at the idea that he is a loner because of circumstance and not by choice. This is what brings out his philosophies we see in the anime because he was essentially pushed away time and time again before highschool. Essentially Hachiman wasn't born a brooding loner and has a side of him that is fairly normal that the viewer doesn't get to see adapted in the anime.

Fighting won't mean anything, no amount of protests will ever bring peace between the countries. I accepted defeat too long ago and I'm happy about it, no worries, no trouble, just living my life. So yes I can relate myself to hachiman, I don't have many friends but I do make them without trying, boys and girls, but don't trust easily and that's what I do, I like to keep my space and be alone most of the time instead of being in a group of friends, if anyone asked me advice about high school or just life in general, this is what I would tell them, (oh yeah, not emo btw), but that's my ideology about life

Oregairu makes us realise that we can't judge anyone upon their social mask everyone has different problems and different opinions their life are different . We should not act selffishly just because we made a stereotype upon people just like how Hacchiman stated yui as a nice girl and yukinon as a strong girl , putting his ideals on them . I have never felt more related to a character in my life. The number of times I have inflicted myself, and still do to this day, with making myself lonely for "the greater good" because I feel like that is what I deserve and what I am. And let's not talk about feeling and even knowing that you are a smarter person than average, it can get really hard to actually get why people enjoy doing certain things that seem futile, that society is just a dumpster and why bother, since everytime I do try to get towards people I assure myself that they don't like me, that I'm gonna get hurt by people. It can be a very bad way of using your intelligence and your sensitivity, inflicting all that to yourself and hiding that you are not feeling good to other people and yourself.
    Now I put this comment here and I'm scared people will mock and attack me for saying "I'm a smarter person than average" or "What they do seems futile".
    Usually I would never say these kind of things in front of anyone, except maybe with a lot of effort to my close family or my best friend. But I changed, and am trying to be a better person, although I a lot of times feel as though I am failing, I don't wanna give up.

But simply that some things had to be established, and I couldn't just avoid getting towards people simply because of being scared of the pain and the critics. Of course I stil have that but I am little by little accepting who I am, and that I can just be who I am instead of inflicting myself with loneliness.

    Protagonists are often thrown together with obvious motives, unappealing characters, and are completely unrelated to the view. Hachiman is legit one of the best protagonists in any anime I have ever watched.

    Everyone says their so much like Hachiman but your really only partly like him in the sense that you have no friends and your a loner by nature. Your not like him because Hachiman is willing to pretend to be an utter enemy of the state to make other people's lives better. He's calculating, and decides to hide behind an illusion. You might do that, but he does it for a selfless reason. Most importantly, he thinks it's the world's fault he's like this. He's wrong of course, he can only blame himself, but this is what makes him endearing and very much real fealing. He has flaws, major ones at that, and that's why I think he's such a great character.

    Hey you guys, I know I'm not the only one who wishes for Hachiman to have a much happy ending. He's always been through a lot as a child, being bullied, shunned, looked down on, & ostracized, & barely had support from his own parents who never even celebrated his birthday while they always do for his sister. It's just so sad that it made him how he is, he lost life in his eyes too.
    Imagine in the epilogue of the LN, in springtime of 2022 (since the plot probably took place in 2011 in the beginning), Hachiman at 27 years old is revealed to be a famous & successful motivational speaker, life coach, & self-help author making him wrong about his dream of being a full-time house husband, which he's actually proud of. He now wears specs(just like his mom), his eyes are back to normal after finding something that he desired as genuine, & the color of 8Man's eyes are revealed to be sectoral heterochromia as they are platinum by the top & silver by the bottom which would unexpectedly reveal 8Man with beautiful rich eyes. Most of all, Hachiman is also married to also 27 year old Yukino who's a poltician & business woman(since she stated in volume 12 that she wants to work in politics & business like her dad) & together they have 3 amazing & precious children.
    Their 1st child is a son who looks a lot like Hachiman & the only feature he inherited from Yukino are the icy blue eyes. 8 years old in 3rd grade in elementary. Even acts too much like his dad, but he's even rebellious & more cynical than the 8Man himself. He was born in spring 2014 when Hachiman & Yukino were only 19, they got married a few months after their 1st son's birth.
    2nd is a daughter who looks like a real beauty with Yukino's looks & her eyes are sparkling platinum/silver like Hachiman's normal eyes. 5 years old in kindergarten. She loves her daddy a lot like an ultimate daddy's girl making others describe her like a father-con & Yukino would hilariously glare at her daughter to warn her not to get too close to papa Hachiman because he only belongs to one woman & that's mama Yukino. She was born in summer 2016 when her parents were 21 & brother was 2. Btw....imagine when she's older, Hachiman & Yukino's girl will have a bustier chest unlike poor mama!
    & 3rd is a 2nd son, an infant who looks like both of Hachiman & Yukino, & is even a combination of them when it comes to personality & skills, his eyes are purple like auntie Haruno's, & they'd actually be from grandpa Yukinoshita. He was born in autumn 2021 when Hachiman was 27, Yukino was 26, big brother was 7, & big sister was 5. Imagine his name having "aki", which obviously translates "autumn" in his name. Plus what if when he's older, Hachiman & Yukino's 2nd boy will look like Lelouch from Code Geass with an ahoge?
    So what do you fans think of this idea for Hachiman's happy ending? In the 2022 epilogue, he's 27 with a successful career, living in a big modern house, married to Yukino, 3 kids with the traditional ahoge, & of course a pet cat.
