- As we get within a week of the NBA Draft Early Entry withdrawal deadline, it’s time to start thinking more seriously about the reality of whether UNC will look to sign one or two more players. Within that conversation, it’s important to think about if you do bring in multiple players, what sort of conversations do you have with players like Jalen Washington, Jae’lyn Withers, Zayden High that you would be potentially recruiting over.
Speaking of recruiting, it’s more important than ever to maintain relationship with high school players you’re recruiting, even when you don’t land them. Why? You never know when they might end up in the transfer portal and want to come to a school they liked in the recruiting process. Harrison Ingram is a prime example of that reality.

Coach Robinson is right. Almost all these players jumping around in the portal are looking for more NIL money or improving their chances for the NBA draft and don't care about the success of their team. Coach Davis has the right idea. He wants players who want to be at Carolina specifically and help Carolina win.
Is that realistic? Part of UNC’s pitch to any recruit is that they have deep pockets and put people in the NBA. I mean, maybe they could stop telling high schoolers and transfers that, and stop recruiting out of state. That way you have a much better chance of getting players that are there only for the school.

Just saw the comments about Lubin's commitment to UNC. UNC has plenty of 3pt capability already, but Lubin will provide a strong inside game to the solid 4s - better than Ingram, no disrespect intended. Lubin does not have a better 2pt game than Ingram - Lubin has a superior 2pt game compared to Ingram.
Above all, Davis has a commitment and obligation to deliver successful teams, and if that means bringing in one or two players, then he will do that in order to field the best team to his ability every year. Having said that, Davis should not add players that will not accomplish that (settling for lesser talent). A team is a competitive environment where playing time is earned, and some recruits, whether high school or portal, don't pan out that way, but the Darwinian process of competition does that. Otherwise, Davis could find himself out of job in a few years by not fielding the best teams possible. Davis is a great guy, but there's a business side to all of this as well, as there is for every coach.
That is about as dumb a take I have ever read. Obviously you don't know nothing about UNC basketball. It's all about culture fit then talent. Great talent doesn't mean a great team. Everyone is sleeping on Ian Jackson and Drake Powell.
@@jimrobinson1140 You are welcome to your opinion. Jackson and Powell need to adjust to college level play, just as every other player has. Lubin has an NBA body and proven college stats.

The frontline looks solid now. I don't see a need for more than one more highly skilled interior player. I would more for height/muscle strength this time around vs skills. You basically need a big man that can catch and shoot to compliment your more mobile-skilled players.

Carolina should definitely get Coleman Hawkins if he comes back to college. That's a no brainer. If he stays in the draft Carolina should go after Ugonna Onyenso because he's 7'1" and a great rebounder, shot blocker and rim protector
