There’s the boss that’s connected to Relm’s side quests named Chadarnook and the basic enemies named the Still Life. Final Fantasy IX has two enemies that appear in only one screen each. The Lamia in Gizamaluke Grotto and one in the screen right before entering the Black Mage Village. You may actually not even fight them if no random encounter is triggered. Stuff like this just doesn't happen anymore. Yes we get unique enemies that appear in only one place but usually they are recycled texture swaps with altered stats, some special boss or hunt or whatever. FFIX just had so many unique enemies some you might not even find. FF 8 and 9 have very very few texture/palette swapped enemies. I think maybe 3 or 4 in VIII and I guess only 1 in IX. Nowadays lots of RPGs take the same enemies and palette swap them. This isn't the end of the world but it also makes encounters less surprising. You find yet another wolf monster, you kinda know how wolf monsters fight by now even if they have slightly different stats and abilities. From I'd say FF6 to 9 you'd get so many unique and weird monsters that you really had no idea what to expect and that made random encounters more fun. VI had a ton of palette swaps but also so so many unique enemies, 7 had few palette swaps but rare. From FFX and onwards is palette swaps all the way.
Alluring Rider seems like shes on a stuffed animal Baku, and with being naked from the waist down...you do the math 😅 The Ragtime Mouse seems like it should have been localized as Ragtime Mouth, right? If you're looking for another, I strongly suggest FF6. People love FF7, and it is fun using the materia system, but FF6 has an amazing story, excellent music, and wonderful characters. It is more than a game, it is an experience. With the Pixel remaster out now, you can get it on pretty much any console. I strongly suggest it if you enjoy RPGs. 😁

@cloudvii7777 to he fair it was 7 obscure monsters so for that reason I'd stick to spherimorph even if it is a story boss it's still just the most bizarre monster I reckon in terms of "wtf is this?" 🤣 like a ball of water that turns solid and crushes you 🤣 agree with you too thag MF looked like a hand grenade mixed with a lychee 🤣 though I reckon 10 had some of the strangest creatures it's hard to pick just one but it's definitely not demonolith
I had to look up the name, but my vote would be the YKT-63. It's a kickboxing robot-looking thing. FFX does a lot of recolors, so its hard to pick something obscure, but I don't believe this thing has been anywhere else.
Nah, the water heater is far more obscure than Tankceratops.
I think Heavy Tank was supposed to be a boss originally. One of Shinra's experiments to guard the reactor.
My favourite are from 5. One of the early enemies is just a regular domestic cat with fake wings 😂
I think the Rider's beast is a tapir or a Baku. It does look reptile like though.
Who's the redhead when he's talking about interviews at the beginning I feel like I recognize her
It's Hollie Bennett she used to be on PS Access
I was expecting to see the incredibly rare T-REX from the very first FF
Alluring rider could be a nod to Heavy Metal
I think the Ragtime Mouse would be a perfect addition to FFXIV’s Gold Saucer. Pit 3 players against each other or NPCs in a Jeopardy style true or false game and winner takes big moneys.
I think FF7 is a little played out, but I LOVE this idea. Well said!
FF7 Christopher and Gighee
FF7 Brain Pod
FF7 that anchor man swinging in the house in nibelheim
FF6 Wart Puck
FF6 Hazer
FF8 Turtapod
FF8 Geezard
FF8 Wendigo
FFXII Rogue Tomato
FFX Unsent Flamethrower Soldier
FFIX the mirror foe
FF6 Face
Check it out. Literally what it's named.
@@genkaiba15 oh I remember that! It was called Phase on the old SNES version! That one was creepy and weird too!!! So many obscure ones in that game! 😂😂😂
Love Tankceratops. He should be an action figure
Great video. Surely most the mainline games need their own lists
I got to attend the dear friends final fantasy symphony tour in 2004 I believe, nobuo uematsu was in attendance and it was by far the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life.
Suplexing a train makes FF6 the best Final Fantasy.
Reminder that 7 also had a dude in the final dungeon who was just a dude, literally, it was just a guy in a mask named Christopher
I was bummed to not see the heavy tank in FF7 Rebirth
Slapper's name in the French translation is Jason.
Tankceratop need to be given the Hellhouse treatment in Rebirth
It just needs to be called Tankceratops
@@arbetor12 Did i miss it? I completed everything in Gongagaga and never found a monster like it.
FF12 also kind of had a demon wall boss? I remember being stuck on it for ages
Yup. 2 Demon Walls, an OP optional one you can run from or beat if you've power leveled, and a mandatory one that's much easier to beat.
Magic pot is definitely one of the more interesting enemies. Usually have to feed it an elixir in exchange for someghing extremely valuable.
Galbadia Garden Canonically Canadian Confirmed!
A full FFVII rundown would be great
Tapirs are mammals, not reptiles.
I never knew Gongaga was an optional area
Only kinda. No matter what after temple of ancients you get sent there. But besides that yea it’s optional.
@@Nanobot1989 i see
Considering its relevance to the story (Zack), as well as having some decent shops, finding the Titan summon, and fighting & stealing from Rude & Reno, and also being a grinding spot for those Power Sources, it's certainly not something you SHOULD skip, unless you're a speedrunner.
@@Nanobot1989 Yeah. I completely skipped it the first time I played the game except for right after Temple of the Ancients. I just didn't know it was even there until then.
Heavy tank is needed for power sources makes it so easy
Gremlins in FF7 doing BAD MOUTH. Where it literally throw out curse words at you and it'll make you sad.
Alluring Rider seems like shes on a stuffed animal Baku, and with being naked from the waist down...you do the math 😅
The Ragtime Mouse seems like it should have been localized as Ragtime Mouth, right?
Also the Elvoret cameo on the Demonolith I cant find a single screenshot confirming, just the one design doc picture
>"Alluring rider"
>No clothes covering her lower half
>Uses Sap Seed
So weird. Can't imagine why such a thing would be found in a dream. What she represents must be a mystery.
Gaelicat....a mythological Gaelic Cat, a Cat-sith?
Exactly. These are Cait Siths
*sees Tomberry
*screams in terror
Congrats on 300k! This was cool to see all the different ones since I've only played Final Fantasy X and XII
Gotta talk about my boy FFV more:
Gilgame / Gil Turtle: preys on the greedy
Level Checker: so, levels are lore friendly?
Jackanapes: Final Fantasy’s only early game superboss with no reward?
FF7 has many obscure enemies, a couple in Midgar alone.
I think demon wall would better be suited to hells gate, cuz what you bring forth with the black materia is nothing short of hell itself
Agreeing with all but the Gaeli cat. I mean if it's in FF14 it's not that obscure, right? I know that's said too. I am surprised the weird metal flans aren't in FF14 though yet... there's a lot of FF14 enemies that were basically ripped straight from 12 and 13.
The house is just a mimic
