Thanks. Great game. UConn overwhelmed in the first half. Came back in the second. With four Freshmen in their top seven players, two starters, they may be playing better in the NCAA which is nine games away. UConn has shown what UConn is made of this year. Let's see how far they can go.
@StoryGordon, if UConn makes it to the Sweet Sixteen, they have done as well as they can do. They will go no further because they are a broken team right now. It's all Geno's fault. Sure, he has 1200 wins at one school in D1 and that is fantastic, but he has lost his mind with his lust for a three- point shooter. He doesn't have a Hannah Jump (40%) or a Te-hena PowPow (42%) on his squad. He has a bunch of talented mid-range jump shooters: Paige, Ashley & Cadence plus two fast-break, make-a-lay-up guards, KK & Niki. He also has a crash the boards & make a lay-up center (Edwards) & a gimp (Ice). Plus two losers: Bettencourt & Dingleberry. Teams like UCLA (Betts) and Stanford (Brink) will clobber UConn. LSU & South Carolina will schlang UConn.
@@chestermicek I think UConn will make it to the S16, but it's not certain. It depends on their seeding. They are currently #15/14 on AP and Coaches, but #3 on HerHoopStats and RealTimeRPI, #4 on Massey and NCAA NET and #5 on Sonny Moore. Their chances of making it to the S16 seem good, although only 12 of the top 15 seeds made it last year and there may be fewer this year. If it's all Geno's fault why are you paying attention? Are you familiar with the Serenity Prayer?
Height made a big difference early, so there were turnovers and blocked shots. UConn also left some SC players wide open. Pow-Pow had been shooting about 28% from 3 and suddenly she could shoot. UConn continued to be out of synch and passed bad and shot badly. It was basically giving SC a free qtr of scoring.
It’s weird how lousy shooters all the sudden have a great game against UConn. There was a girl that shot 20% behind the arc that went like 4/5 or 6/7 (something like that) against them a few weeks back.
@@nuriamarti100 Yep. Pao-Pao wasn’t one of the crappy shooters having a great game all the sudden that I was talking about. She was shooting something like 48% from 3. At Oregon she shot somewhere in the 40s. Definitely not a bad shooter.
@@frankiek2269 Is it possible Staley had Pow-Pow shooting bad to disguise her? If she had shot very well in the past, it wouldn't seem likely anything could disguise that. Maybe she just needed to get excited by playing UConn. Who knows.

Some games it seems like they couldn’t hit the ocean with a rock and sometimes it seems they can throw up any off -balance, running shot and it’ll go in. Pao Pao was just losing her defenders well. If she shot bad lately, this good game shooting was just leveling her percentages out. I just looked it up because I was curious how close I was to an earlier comment I made. She’s was 60% for this game and now 50% from 3 for the year. That is not a bad shooter, at all. The opposite of bad. Haha That’s like PB was shooting something like 58% from the 3 for the first ten games or so. Way above her normal %. So, odds and percentages tell you she’s going to starting missing a lot soon. They always even out to your skill level if you keep shooting enough.
As bad as this game was for UConn, it would have been much closer had they have made some of their shots. They missed alot of shots and free throws. Also, going forward, I think UConn should slow the pace down and run a more deliberate half court offense. This could help them with their lack of depth, and limit the possessions of opposing teams. Just as long as they don't turn the ball over.

I just now finally got up enough faith to attempt watching this particular game (had a bit of a rough week and mentally I didnt want to stress myself out any further, knowing where SC is coming from). I found it doesnt hurt so bad with them losing to a great team as SC. Actually it felt sorta strange watching us trailing so badly cuz usually its the other team being destroyed. She's better than Hannah Jump of Stanford. Jump's shooting 40% on her threes, but PowPow is shooting 42%. The UConn Freshman led by KK Arnold, Ashlyn Shade and Cadence Samuels aren't ready for TaHina PowPow any more than they were ready for Hidalgo any more than they are ready for Hannah Jump. Geno needs to use his head for something other than a Chia Plant platform. Play nine players so that KK, Ash & Cadance can learn by watching as well as doing. Geno is so crazed for a three-point shooter and a Park Lane-type point guard that he is wasting KK, Ash & Cadence just like he wasted Saylor Pop. Sure, Geno has 1,200 D1 wins, but he doesn't have an Elite 8 Team at the moment & he's not going to have one in March. If his current crew makes it to the Sweet Sixteen, they have done as well. If they make it to the Elite 8, it was either dumb luck or corrupt officiating. Just because the UConn guys are ranked #1, it doesn't mean that "Buecker's Bandits" are going to blow by teams like South Carolina, Notre Dame, UCLA & Stanford like they blew by Seaton Hall, St. John's, Marquette & Villanova.
Yeah the announcers mentioned so many times that SC was missing Cardosa. But they only mention once UConn missing 5 players for the year [3 upper class starters and 2 key players]. I agree with you, I’ll be really surprised if they get past the Sweet Sixteen. But you never know when shots will start going in. So many crappy shooters hit shots that they never make when playing Uconn. This game had that too. Notre Dame shot way above career average from 3pt. Can’t remember which game, but a career 20%er up until they played UConn went something like 4/5 against them. UConn’s been shooting below their % last few games. Odds and percentages always even out. That’s their nature. So, perhaps UConn might start shooting at, or above, their % come tournament time. Still don’t see them making the E-8.

There's one other site that I've seen which showed a lot of sports and teams and they included UConn women once in a while. But, that site changed because the people behind it reorganized to have several sites. Just have UConn as a thing you want in your YT feed and it might come up. Next best is 25-35 minute videos by women's sports alliance (or something like that). That's a pretty good condensation of the games.
