I have the Iron Cross and I literally flipped a coin to decide on buying it or a Snakebyte. That was 4 years ago and I love that guitar. Its about time to get it's sister.
I owned this guitar played & sounded fantastic hit a bump in life and had to sell it . I will purchase another one soon, just loved the action was a blast to play really connected with this axe.
I own this guitar and I had to polish down the gloss neck a bit because I was getting stuck with my sweaty hands, now the issue is gone. This guitar is amazing and the only thing I'd change is the glossy neck. It sounds amazing and is a monster riffer.
Been looking at this guitar for a while. Looks amazing. I'm saving up to get next year around my birthday. Can't wait to be able to hold and play this beautiful axe
The most surprising thing about this guitar is how good it sounds clean. I always think it doesnt have the well rounded sound but am surprised everytime i plug it in.
Nicely done Oli, very thorough review. Big Metallica fan here. Maybe one day I'll get one of Hetfield's signature models. Need to put the effort in to learn some of there stuff, it just gets intimidating sometimes. Very happy with my LTD and they're still pretty pricey so wouldn't splash on the ESP version. Given you've done Hetfield, my request would be for one of Hammet's now 🤘🎸
@@OliRoyer It's pretty bloody fast, but I love it. I also need to learn how to tame distortion, it can get pretty messy when I've tried cranking it up. Sweet, I'll keep an eye open for it 😎
i love your tone ,man. i have a katana 50 and i struggle to get tones. would you be able to tell me what frequency you cut and raise? it seems like you have a decent amount of lower mids or something like that. my tone lacks that and is too bright even wit it cut off at 10k. i raise 1k and some surrounding frequencies and then work on the bass side and do a low cut at like 100 -120hz. i understand its only a katana but i feel like i just need to be pointed in the right direction. great video man, one of my dream guitars other then his original esp ones he had back in the day.
I just can't see spending 4,000 more dollars for goth tuners, bone nut, and a one piece neck. Oh and the ESP logo which is the main noticeable difference. I have a couple deluxe 1000 series and they rock. Might try to get an E-ll some day to see if they really are worth the extra dough.

Hope I get a good one, I was reading a lot of reviews of people having issues with the fretboard having worm holes, smudges on the gloss, and other little cosmetic issues. I ordered some shaller strap locks and a new strap, now I wait for it to get here. I already own the JH Set in my EC-256 and I love them. Good review :)
Guitars Talk and Tech Well my first Snakebyte had a lot of bad things on it. Crack near the neck, hardware was really used. It was a floor model. I returned it and got a new one from Guitar Center. This one was new, but still had some little hair cracks near the frets on the fretboard in the gloss, had some micro fiber hairs in the white paint in the gloss, some areas near the hedadstock look a little unfinished, like not glossy enough. But it does play nice, everything else is new, was never opened. Just sucks that the quality control isn’t better. Mine is a Indonesia made 2019 model. But I still love it.

Like I said I have some small fibers in the paint, some unfinished parts near the headstock, and one tiny black spec thats actually in the paint and glossed over, but again not the end of the world. It still plays good so that's what matters. Glad you got a good one. I'm thinking of getting the Black one eventually.

Do you think the lack of a whammy bar limits any? I want to buy this for my son who is an amazing guitarist. He plays a lot of solos and does use a whammy bar sometimes depending on the song so I am curious. He plays a lot of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Metallica solos.

It is a wonderful guitar but I just cannot find myself liking the shape of it. Just cannot move pass how freaking awesome the MX 220-250-II were. Even with the comon 81/60 they had. But you wouldnt find any of those for any less than 10k now..
Dam, this guitar kicks ass sounds amazing . It has to be the Hetfield pickups . How would you compare the hetfield ltd explorer with the schecter v1 , Dean z select , Epiphone explorer . I'm thinking about dropping $$. I'm interested in the quality of the build with the these four guitars. I have a Gibson explorer 1994 , just needed something else explorer type to compliment the Gibson.
I have an older Korean epiphone korina explorer and it sounds absolutely killer but I bought a white snakebyte cause I wanted a cleaner looking explorer shape (not a huge fan of the pickguard and gold hardware on my explorer) and I feel the active pups lend themselves better to metal. I might keep the explorer because it does sound great, but I think I prefer the snakebyte
Plus if you already have the Gibson explorer, I’d go for the snakebyte as they aren’t the exact same shape and I think you’ll be disappointed with the epiphone (comparatively to your gibson)
Why are you trying to hide origin of this oar, and seria number..Made in KOREA? UPS, All the fakes come from Asia, everyone only looks at the shape and gets excited. Meanwhile, this paddle is not worth the price.

The thing with LTD’s is that they are pricey but you’re definitely going to get your money’s worth.

How did everything turn out
Crucible I put the Hetfield set in my 256. They are active.
