You nailed the coloring, texturing and look of the refit Enterprise. I guess I should know, I wrote the "Starfleet Assembly Manual 4 - For Heavy Cruisers" scale modeling book, circa 1984 (long out of print but still copyrighted).
As much as I love that shot on the television screen (or computer screen, in this case), it was so much more dazzling on the theater screen when I got to see The Wrath of Khan and The Motion Picture in the cinema.
Ah the Refit Constitution class. No many how many times I see it, I am still in awe by the beauty of it. Sleek, simple, yet advanced looking. It is, to this date, my favorite starship design Star Trek has ever produced.
David Sirett I agree, the refit constitution class Starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701, is indeed the best looking starship enterprise in Star Trek cinematic history and second is, the NCC-1701-E USS Enterprise. I’m more partial to James T. Kirk’s enterprise for it has more of a sleek design.
You have the old phone ringing version. When I was a kid, every-time the Enterprise went into warp, I thought the phone was ringing. They removed that detail in the remastered edition. Nice.
my only qualm with this (and every other edit on YT) is the warp jump animation. the passover is superb but the way the enterprise jumps to warp in the original TMP with the streaking lights is bang on the money without any need of modding... be nice to see someone do an edit like this but keep the original style light streaks. however, superb cgi, you are clearly very skilled. 👍
I liked the variations from movie to movie: "Out there... Thataway!" "Mr Sulu, you may... indulge yourself." "First star to the right and straight on until morning." "Maximum warp. Punch it!" "Is the ... parking brake on?" "Ready for warp, sir." 0:56: I thought the caption was "The human adventure is just beginning."
It was one of the trailers for movie 6: ruclips.net/video/lKfkkhEbUlY/видео.html I only remember this because as a kid I got a VHS box set of 1-5 for Christmas once, and every tape had this trailer at the beginning of it, so I saw it a lot, ha
Ironically I was just reading about this 2 days ago. What a crime - although reading what Douglas Trumbull went through to light those individual areas must have been a nightmare. One thing ILM did have going for it they build their models so that if they have to get into it to fix wiring they put in removable compartments for easy access.
@mylex67 I must agree with Myriad, it's absolutely brilliant but the warp jump doesn't work in my opinion. I think a normal movie-era "rainbow" jump would be great. With this one the warp "lines" or "pulses" surrounding the ship are too near the screen. That's my big problem.
You're right. This is Enterprise A so it should geht the right effect. That's the same as if you take the great TNG FX and put it in the TOS Enterprise. Doesn't fit.
Mylex, I'm a big fan of your work, but I hope you're okay with a little constructive criticism. Ever since jamesgeraldroyal uploaded his work of the TMP warp jump a few months ago, I still have yet to see something to match the details of the movie's photographic effect as he did. I like what you did here, but if you haven't seen jamesgeraldroyal's work on this effect, you should. The perfect scene would be his effects and your ship model rendering. I think everybody here would agree.
Just for the fun of it, why don't you guys re-imagine the scale of the enterprise closer to "STOS" where it has a crew (excluding contract workers) of over 400 and ruffly 24 decks depending on the episode statements. I see that in Star Trek Discovery that it's scale is immensely larger than that of Star Trek the Motion Picture. (Discovery sucks by the way). It would mean that from the exterior, the docking (round) port on the side of the ship and at the neck would need to be 1/8 their size or that the shuttle that docks there would contain personnel 1/8 their size in the movie. I'm for making the Enterprise a larger ship simply due to it's missions and needed space (in space).
Hallo HIKE Animation. Erst eimal Hut ab für die grandiose Animation. Ich würde Sie gerne für eine bestimmte Anfrage kontaktieren, die mit diesem CG-Clip zu tun hat. Wie können wir am besten in Kontakt kommen? Besten Dank vorab.
Beautiful! Roddenberry would be very proud!! Much appreciation from this old Trekker.
Jerry Goldsmith, the soundtrack to this is just amazing.
I’m sorry to say that Jerry Goldsmith has been dead since 2004. But his music lives on.
That warp effect with the nacelle lights is outstanding, nice work!
Not enough. We NEED more. This is too beautiful for a mere 45 seconds of screen time.
After all these years, this Enterprise still captures the imagination.
Very nice. Such a beautiful Starship.

Very cool. I was trying to build a good model back then and SO wanted your book, but alas, it was not to be...
She's so GORGEOUS!❤ The lights in her nacelles when she jumps into warp...❤❤❤
The refit is hands down my favorite. Great job!
As much as I love that shot on the television screen (or computer screen, in this case), it was so much more dazzling on the theater screen when I got to see The Wrath of Khan and The Motion Picture in the cinema.
Totally loved it. You made me fall in love again with a starship named Enterprise. Engage.

Best looking ship in the history of scifi end of

Totaly agree.
I still prefer the original TOS Enterprise, but this is damn beautiful.
Couldn’t agree any less!. Nothing can even come come close to this iconic masterpiece.
I fully agree. She is without doubt the best and most beautiful spacecraft ever. She's Number 1. The USS Enterprise
This is a fantastic rendering of the Enterprise. I love it!
As stunning as back then.
WOW!! that was SPECTACULAR!! a grand feast for the eyes! Modeling, texture, lighting NAILED IT! Music "Brought a tear to me eye"
There are no bad angles on that lady!

awesome as always.
Love it! Really like the warp jump at the end :)
nice one - the great bird of the galaxy is looking on smiling
“And the human adventure is just beginning “
Heading sir ?
Out there ..thataway!

Quite astonishing!
0:38 somewhere in the galaxy an ensign says "Captain there's another ship coming in.....it's the Enterprise"
Damn, that is just perfect. :)
My favorite scene 😍
I could look at her all day!
Awesome, looks great !
Still remember the beauty shot they did while superimposing scenes from movies over top of it, don't even remember what it was in relation to :D
It was one of the trailers for movie 6: ruclips.net/video/lKfkkhEbUlY/видео.html

Absolutely great. I love the "pearl" colours originaly painted by Paul Olsen that ILM destroyed.

Outstanding! Best i've seen on youtube!
Essas naves de star trek trem e uma mais linda do a outra. Magnífica.
well im lost for wirds yet again, perfectly done :D
I like.how the.engine grille.lights up before the ship goes into warp speed. And the music fits the scene..
Man, that is so cool!
Outstanding!
Beautiful I love it
Just wow.
I love is model.
It's Fantastic!!!
How do you do this?
The Enterprise is perfect!
I miss Hike animation of the Enterprise!!!!
Excellent!!!❤
A+
WOW !!
If you treat her like a lady, she'll always bring you home.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥
Wow!
reminds me of the ST VI Teaser!
Gute Arbeit!
This looks great. However, wouldn't the ship either use the warp drive or the impulse engines but not both at the same time?
@mylex67 I must agree with Myriad, it's absolutely brilliant but the warp jump doesn't work in my opinion.

It's a very beautiful FX Graphic engine. But it's better to use a real Starship model. The look is later more realistic.
Good video but, frankly, the original 1979 warp effect is a thousand times better. No offence.
I must say that the original jump on the movie is way better. Nice animation, though.
No ONE...
