    Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
    Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

    Totally agree with alot of this. As a physically handicapped remote player i actually stopped playing for several years because the experience was so bad. I came back this year after realizing the shiny legendaries that are shiny locked in the main series come up often.
    I think its ironic that accessibility to play is what usually makes mobile games popular but is the main issue with pokemon go.
    Im thankful for having found an active community....mostly through luck but overall thos game has ALOT to do if they want to grow in the future.

    I was able to visit California last year and stopped at Santa Monica Pier to play for a while. It blew my mind that I could just join any raid and have the lobby fill up in seconds. I never have that where I live in Utah. So I definitely understand that advantage many players have who live in areas like this.

    my view toward the game began to shift with the introduction of elite raids. I really wanted the Hoopa unbound but was completely shut out being solo and rural. And then came the legendary shadow raids... like, ok lol so frustrating to see the raids being available at my one local gym without being able to do anything with them at all (I do have a large friends list and used to remote raid a lot before the nerf).

    Let's give props where it's due too. PoGo compared to 99% of all other gaming apps is not as pay-to-win as others. As a F2P player level 50, I cant say I would be able to reach where I am now in other games. That aside, I completely agree with this list. Great vid!

    Have been a rural player for 8 months, after having played in a large city since 2016. Having a gym at your house (like I do) is obviously great; but the Pokécoins are NOT guaranteed if you are the only one playing. This is why a lot of rural players create "alt" accounts of a different team. A few people are playing in my little town (4 gyms, 14 stops) and gym rotation is OK, but I have been unable to meet anyone and consequently have skipped ALL the tier 5 raids because there is noone to raid with. Also, the limited number of stops can be a problem for a Research Day like the "Flock Together" we just had as I barely was able to finish the paid research (complete a total of 11 tasks I believe); I had to resort to the on/off scanning task trick to get other tasks I was able to complete in the limited time I had for playing.

    • @picsl8ed867
      @picsl8ed867 25 дней назад

      In the old gym system I was able to easily get 100 pokecoins a day. Now I can't even get my 50, even with 6+ pokemon in gyms daily. I'm lucky to get it a few times a week. The gym change/raid update was just as big a middle finger to rural players as the remote pass nerf.

      @@JC-oq3ei If you have a scanning task on (where you have to scan a stop location to get a Poffin or balls) and a Pokéstop gives you a task that you do not like, you can discard the scanning task and you will get a different task from the Pokéstop.
      TWO THINGS:
      - if you have completed the previous task, you will NOT get the second one
      - said Pokéstop might give you a scanning task, and in that case you have to complete the scanning task first to obtain a different field task.

      THREE things:
      - of course you have to wait 5' to be able to spin the stop again
      - the Pokéstop might give you a scanning task, which you would then have to complete to get the second (different) task

    Perhaps we got it all wrong. Perhaps Niantic never wanted differently abled players to play the game. Why would anyone purposely remove accessibility features from a game otherwise? Similary, we could have gotten differently shaped avatars a whole lot sooner back.
    Niantic doesn’t care about the players. They know they have a loyal Pokémon fanbase captured.

Even though the criteria its hard to meet, i managed to create around 10 new ones in my zone. The F2P game over all its a best game experience, not so much pressure, and every new pokemon feels much more rewarding.

    Cities are a definite advantage. I've played in Manhattan and it is night and day versus playing in a rural suburb like where I first played. Gyms and stops on practically every corner of Times Square and even to the south and north. Suburban/local parks can be an equalizer, but you have to know where they are and have to have the means of transportation, if they have a good number of stops/gyms. You may have to build them up, which can take time.
    Have to disagree some with the Home Gym Advantage. They don't always flip daily, so the coinage isn't always there. Also, the "Home Gym" may be dominated by a team other than yours... so you go out there, take the gym over... and 10 minutes later the dominant team steamrolls you out since you're 1 and they can get to the max that quickly. Also, at times some people berry the gym out while you're trying to rotate the gym. Not everyone understands that losing a gym means coins. The rotation of raids isn't always great and sometimes you're stuck with raids you can't do since it's not in a place that is as easy to get to as other gyms... especially during weekdays.

    • @justinfitzgerald5885
      @justinfitzgerald5885 25 дней назад

I don't think there's a law against making my local target or walmart a pokestop or else it wouldn't be on google maps. I 100% agree with these points. It makes so much of a difference where you live. When i started playing pogo i lived in a house with zero spawns, no pokestops and no gyms. Now the house my wife and myself live in has both a gym and 2 pokestops on it as well as 5-7 spawns reachable from indoors. The difference between the two is almost like playing a completely different game and is definitely unfair. I know one or two people in our local groups that live way out of town and have no pokestop or gyms but anywhere from 20-30 pokemon in there house constantly. I really wish Niantic would balance things out so that everybody could have a few of everything at home. It will likely never happen, but it would make things so much more fair.

    raids there is a huge raid disparity between rural and urban players. in the city super easy to find raids but in rural forget about it. and whats really sad is remote raid passes fixed this massive issue because people could friend people in urban areas and help rural players get good raids. The remote raid nerf has to be one of the worst nerfs in any game id argue its what started killing the game. They are trying to make up the loss of revenue with passes so much so that the system couldnt even handle it.
    ever since the pandemic ended pokemon go has gotten drastically worse and whats even more sad is the changes they did make later on with shadow raids and increased spawn raids for non remote raiders were actually good ideas but with the remote raid nerf are extremely pointless because you killed the entire scene. shadow raids are pointless and increased spawns who cares people arent raiding anymore. pvp its the same problem naruto blazing did where they made the game so pvp focused and tons of bad changes it killed the game.
    at this point the game is dying a death from 1000 cuts

    From all the videos I’ve watched, you have to be consistently the most negative content creator in the Pokémon GO space. As someone who lives in a rural community with a small local player base, these “disadvantages” just make you have to grind a little bit harder and be creative with the way you attack the game. And, imo, this makes me appreciate the rewards that much more.
    Sure, having tons of Pokéstops and Gyms all on the same city block would be convenient at times, but perhaps the overload of availability and having to work less hard for your rewards is what is accelerating your burnout with the game-thus leading to more videos like this.
    You are a really good content creator and I enjoy watching your stuff. But when 2/3 of your videos are constantly bashing the game, it makes your videos really hard to watch. It sounds to me like you should take a break from Go and come back with a healthier mindset.

      @@CountJinsulaOfficial I hear ya. But that is a very black and white way of thinking. There’s a lot of space in between harsh criticism and praise to explore and make more quality content on. I don’t think anyone should give praise to a company that isn’t deserved. But as big voice in the community, an endless stream of negativity isn’t really the productive either.
      That being said, thanks for the reply. Wish you the best, man. I think it would be exhausting to put so much time into something that’s supposed to be fun, but you no longer enjoy.

      @@CountJinsulaOfficial I am of the other opinion that Count is by far my most watched out of all the you tubes as i know if something is going on in the community he will be here to share his thoughts and not shy away from talking about problems with events or bugs or Niantic not making the best decisions. I can always count on Count (no pun intended) to make a discussion on a topic be it good or bad. I really like that and with his soft well spoken tone it always comes across as constructive and not purely negative.
      Thank you Count for always being honest with us. It really feels like you care about the game and the future of it.

      Bro it's a game, it's suppose to feel enjoyable not feel like you are constantly fighting against the game, who wants to work the whole day and go out at night to grind, you ain't rural enough if you say these things

    Don't struggle when you spoof. The game is a joke now, no one plays in my neighborhood, so that means you can't do anything higher than 3 star raids solo. Spoofing solves that.
