I've realised after 3 minutes and I've lost interest. This guy, Larry Bundy Jr and Kim Justice are the three best channels on YT I think. I'd love to see a proper piracy video from one of those 3 about how it affected different consoles or generations. The Amiga was supposedly plagued but imo was massive because of piracy, windows became the number 1 OS because of piracy, the Dreamcast, in my opinion, died because of it but I'd love a properly researched video on the matter.

Can't help but feel that it's more often out of buyer's remorse than being that dumb. Also I still love the story of darkwood devs putting it up on pirate sites themselves once it got onto key reseller sites, urging players to pirate it instead of using grey market to avoid potential issues caused by said grey market for the dev (since these are often used to launder money). Immediately went and bought the game on steam cuz I gotta respect that.
The closest I have come to sid meiers pirates in modern formats (and I use the word "closest" quite loosely) was Black Flag. I don't think this was a coincidence either. You can see the inspiration from the treasure maps to the pirate rescues and many things between stitched into the fabric of the game. Not a perfect modern day by any means rendition but by far gave me a similar positive feedback experience. In short Black Flag was so far the best effort but lost in it's bonds to another game altogether.
I'd approach software piracy from a different angle - A focus on copy protection/DRM. It's a possibility, but I'd need to acquire a lot of physical stuff - dongles, code wheels, game manuals etc.
Your videos are the most compact entertainment in a long time here on youtube! In times where everybody puts zero effort in doing boring long ass "let's play"s it's nice to have someone who actually does research, captures gameplay and edits all together to a short infotainmental video! Thanks a lot!
I loved Pirates of the Caribbean Online when I was younger. I'm glad fans are recreating the game under the name, The Legends of Pirates Online. Disney is fantastic for not taking down these recreations of their closed MMOs.

If you want to talk about the Monkey Island - cover it all in one go and mention the games influenced by it, which probably is going to include a game that might tie in to a different one, allowing for a transition. Some historical background would be nice too - for instance, in many games you damage other ships with a barrage, which is completely unrealistic, as you don't want to damage the cargo you're stealing, nor sink the ship and lose it all. It's kind of your trademark, outside of editing.

And if you want to go even further back, Synergistic Software's "Odyssey: The Compleat Apventure" [sic] was shockingly vast for the games of the era. Part 1 was an open world island you could freely explore, until you saved enough "quadroons" (gold) to buy a ship. Part 2 took place on the high seas, where you actually had to sail your ship to multiple islands by using the winds to move you, fighting pirate ships (or becoming a pirate by attacking merchant ships). Part 3 took place on the final island where you try to take over the evil Caliph's castle.
Hmm i miss one pirate themed game here. I played that thing back in about 2002-2005. You could buy bigger ships and equip them aswell as yourself, the story evolvedaround some majan artefact (no, not assasins creed :P) and i can clearly remember the endbosses ship, a fkin huge galleon twice as large as my ship was, the bigges one in the game.... and then i could capture it oh my gawd.... :D Also story was interesting... but eventough no matter how hard i try to find the name out again, no chance :(

Ah yes exactly, that one was it! I guess i liked it becaus it was themed in there but afaik you didnt play alongside the movies story but had your own. Back in 2003 the graphics where also nice :) Enjoyed that little bugger. Guess also one of the advantage was, that i didnt knew much about it and therefore went unbias'd into the game.
Axonteer Loved it. Best ship i had there was the Mefisto, the black frigate (quest chain). That thing was ridiculously fast when handled properly. The 3rd installment was, Age of Pirates or something, was egregious mess and does not even deserve the title of a game. City of abandoned ships, the 4th installment, is ok go to, but i had problems with it since release (crashing, and generally buggy). I'm looking forward to the day when a more competent studio makes a game in that vein. I think i still have the Seadogs 2 (Pirates of Caribbean game you are speaking of), although heavily modded. (PiratesAhoy is still up i think, the modding forum for the game, and they may still have mods for all 4 games up)
Mikhail Solovyev i dont have the game anymore but now that i know the game name again i can keep a look out on GOG. I rellay liked the naval battles in Empire and even more so in Napoleon total War. AC4 Black Flag was a bit too arcady for me, though still fun.

I´ve got a great case of serendipity from this video, and I have finally found this silly Disney game I barely remembered from my late childhood/early teenage years. I new it was some sort of Goofy character and an island/beach location, but never managed to find the actual game. I'm so thankful right now!
Ahh, Pirates of the Burning Sea. Such an underrated game! Despite it's flawed land combat system, the Naval combat was very realistic and well-thought out. It had a very nice customization system, went F2P after a while, and it's quests were very deep and some of the more hidden storylines were - to say the least, incredibly interesting. I remember one of the more rare storylines consisted of a hidden, conspiracy-theory war between the Spanish Inquisition and Knight's Templars. I wish they remake that game someday in hopes of it getting more newfound attention.
It is 2023 and Sea Of Thieves has a Monkey Island questline that has all the original voice actors, characters, music, puzzles on melee island. It is truly a treat.

Among all the things I like in Ahoy's videos... I love his use of low frequency sound/music. Makes my, really old and "not fancy at all but still GOOD", speakers shiny :-)

I´ve got a great case of serendipity from this video, and I have finally found this silly Disney game I barely remembered from my late childhood/early teenage years. I new it was some sort of Goofy character and an island/beach location, but never managed to find the actual game. I'm so thankful right now!
Overboard is one of my favourite games of all time for the PS1, brings back so many fond memories!

This video was exactly what I hoped it would be.
Ahh, Pirates of the Burning Sea. Such an underrated game! Despite it's flawed land combat system, the Naval combat was very realistic and well-thought out. It had a very nice customization system, went F2P after a while, and it's quests were very deep and some of the more hidden storylines were - to say the least, incredibly interesting. I remember one of the more rare storylines consisted of a hidden, conspiracy-theory war between the Spanish Inquisition and Knight's Templars. I wish they remake that game someday in hopes of it getting more newfound attention.
It is 2023 and Sea Of Thieves has a Monkey Island questline that has all the original voice actors, characters, music, puzzles on melee island. It is truly a treat.
I love the way the pirate accent fades in and out in the intro
