Suzuki Jimny - First 2000Kms Ownership and Long Overland Trip Review

  • The grey Jimny has been on the road since the day it got delivered and has completed a super quick 2k kms .
And on top of that , we just got her out with 4 other cars for a weekend camping/fishing trip to Barot - The Brown Trout Country in Himachal Pradesh. Feels to be the perfect 2 person overland vehicle and easily hauled 2 people and their supplies with zero issues.
The auto box as expected was amazing on the bill sections. The pleasant surprise was the way the suspension is working. Feels super planted and very confident when doing broken patches on high speed.
The few negatives that came up are the lack of height adjustment in front seat belts and the always sounding rear seatbelt warning.
The tailgate supports the bigger tire easily with zero rattling.

There is so much learning in your videos ! On the rear seat belt, it is mandatory as per law....seldom enforced but there have been drives to enforce it from time to time. After the Cyrus Mistry incident, traffic police in cities became stringent with more drives......if you have been in an Uber in Delhi and Bangalore in the last month or so, there will be a warning too with a voice advising the passenger to wear the seatbelt....(some seem to have disabled it though).....Maruti is trying to preempt a future scenario when it will be as strict as the front seat belt, hence the factory fitted alarm...From a company's perspective I heard someone from their side saying that they want help with the safety education by sounding this alarm for the rear passengers to start wearing the belt as a habit like the front folks....(however, the counter seems to be that that is fine only if there is a rear passenger seated...fair point...)...
I am also looking forward to see a video where you share how much pressure should be there in the tyre depending on the dimensions of that specific tyre...I heard you mention in one of your videos that there is a calculation to be followed/done....Waiting :)

Recently an acquaintance of mine bought a Fronx and there too the rear seat belt reminders would go off every time the car is driven. I inquired about this at Nexa and they said "cost cutting". Maruti simply did not install the sensors in the seat that indicates whether there is a passenger or not. So this is not a malfunction but a deliberate flaw from the manufacturer's end.

Only touching when the steering is fully turned and mainly in downhill braking areas. The earlier 2k kms in the city. Rubbing was not an issue at all.
This rubbing also is not an issue. Since it isn’t against metal or any part of the frame/suspension

Hello Sir, I am staying in Himachal Pradesh Palampur, thinking about which car better for me, new Jimny or old LC100 or LC105 or Prado or Fortuner or old Audi Q7 4.2 or Honda Crv. I am an automobile engineer from Europe, so I can work on old cars, I have OBD2 diagnosis system, but I am a bit worried to buy old car in India. I would like to have Jimny, but the only issue is it is very light so safety is less, but in Himachal not high speeds, so not so many deadly speed car accidents, so maybe Jimny would be good option. What would you buy if you live in Himachal? At home we are 5 people, but most of the time I will drive only with wife. We have Hyundai Santro, so if more people are needed for trip, we can use two cars if Jimny would be too small, but I did a test drive of Jimny, we tried to sit 3 medium people at the back, it is possible fot not very long journey.
