The baseball at-bat scenario is an interesting and useful way to explain readied actions? I often feel sports metaphors are overused in daily life, but this one does make the ready-trigger-react process more clear to folks new to the game. Thanks!

I'm an experienced DM, but I love your videos. They are perfect to send to newer players. Keep up the great work.

Approx 5:30 and again around 8:00 you state that a readied action has to be used before the end of the round. This is not accurate. It has to be used before that characters next turn.

I came here to state the same thing. This would make a player, last on the initiative list, never being able to use their triggered reactions, such as "I will dash if monster A comes toward me". As soon as thier turn is over, new round starts and this is saying the trigger action is now lost. Love your videos but this is a huge misunderstanding.

The section on using different speeds p190 PHB cannot be correct. The problem is that a distance measure (ft) is being used to calculate speed (ft/sec). When combining different speed rates the amount of time used in each section is the important factor. Thus , (assuming 60ft/sec flying and 30 ft/sec walking) 20ft of flying uses 1/3 of your time and walking 10ft uses 1/3 of your time making a total of 2/3 of your time. This leaves 1/3 which can be used for walking another 10ft or flying 20ft (and not 30ft as the PHB states)

We're searching for a mimic. I knock an arrow and ready an attack as my companions poke things with sticks. The mimic reveals itself. Can I use my reaction to attack, then use my action to attack in the same turn?

(New DM here): I don't think so unless you're a Fighter with mutliple Attacks. Readying your Attack (1 action) "burns" that one Action for your turn, discarding any other Attack Actions for your turn and your Reaction is then "used up" to trigger the "burned" Action to Attack.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but that's what makes sense to me in the example stated. (Think in terms of having Actions, Bonus Actions and Reactions as tokens for each turn that gets spent when doing stuff)
