Kinda late now but DBC throttle body from a Crown Victoria also works. I believe that they're the same part number and I know that they work since I put a Vic throttle body on my old 2003 GT.
I replaced the stock throttle body on my 2016 V6, with 2016 V8 GTthrottle. It did not work properly. Thanks to advise from Auto Mafia, found out I needed a 2011 - 2014 V8 GT throttle body. After putting the 2011 - 2014 V8 throttle body on my 2016 V6, worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone out there.
I can’t say I did or didn’t lol. When I did mine I did long tube headers, off-road x pipe, cat back exhaust, throttle body, and tune. The car is definitely faster then it was by a lot. But I don’t know if it would make a huge difference or not
I agree 100 percent! Eventually I will change it out. I've been on the debate of doing the Eaton 112 blower on it. But then I think how far do I wanna take it lol
Honestly your best bet is to do gears in the rear end. My personal advice is save up for a 8.8 from a gt or Mach 1 and put 4.10s or 3.73s in it and swap that in. You will feel a night and day difference. You will also need a bama tuner to correct the speedometer but it’s good because you can get a free tune right away too from bama included in the price of the tuner
@@T-MillProductions hey so I tried to do the swap but the gt cable is too short and won’t let my throttle close literally stay half way open and the v6 is the right length just wrong connection any suggestions
@@T-MillProductions I got it from the same year and everything that being said it works just the v8 cable is 1 in 1/2 shorter than the v6 .I tried fishing it thru different spots to get more length but nothing might go universal if anything
If you look at how the cables attach to the throttle bodies they have different ends on them so the stock v6 one won’t attach to the gt one. Also 1 thing I need to update in here is the v6 used part of the intake for the iac, the top of the v6 throttle body is where it matches to it, I used jb quik weld the putty and covered the opening and then I opened the gt throttle blade just a hair more when it was in the car to adjust the idle. If you don’t block off the iac port on the intake manifold it’s gonna idle very high and run like crap. I plan to make a video on it soon
i have an 02 mustang 3.8l and soon will be installing sr performance cold intake would that throttle body fit? and is it the 02 4.6l Cardone throttle from rock auto?
Yes any 2v throttle body will work, you will need to open the blade a little bit and block off the top opening on the intake manifold where the throttle body bolts too. But after you do that you’ll be good!
I have the stock throttle body at the moment. Is there a way to pull the cables along with the throttle body off a salvage yard gt? I don’t have the first clue where I would find the needed cables to hook up the throttle body successfully. Thanks for the vid!
Have you checked the quality of the AM 65mm 3.8 vs the gt throttle? I’m all for junk find and savings but I didn’t know if anyone could chime in? I’ve got a crate 3.8 and I want a subtle upgrade so I’m on to the TB. Didn’t know if it was simpler to get the gt, or is the AM completely compatible without any cable swaps etc?
I did look into it at first but I didn’t wanna spend much money into it because I eventually plan to do the Eaton m112 swap and I already had the gt throttle body. Both are good options but if you have a brand new crate engine I would almost say buy a new one for a 3.8 and call it a day.
Would this pair well with me adding the eaton m90 supercharger to my v6? I’ve see. That with a custom plate for the m90 I could run this on my v6 because it comes off a 3.8 Pontiac
That I’m not sure about to be honest. I thing the Pontiac ones are a little different but I could be wrong. I know the Eaton m112 is wha everyone runs on theses with an adapter plate. I think you can’t use the m90 with split port heads. But I could be wrong.
Yes they do except one thing I forgot to mention is the idle air control valve inlet is on the top of the intake manifold and the gt throttle body doesn’t go up high enough to cover it so you have to make a gasket to cover it and make your own idle air control valve inlet
So I had to modify all that later on after this video, I made an update about it, I took jb weld and closed up the upper hole and then opened the throttle blade up a little more for the idle air, and I already had a tuner so I just bunked up the idle speed a little
Do you know if the manual v6 have a cruise control cable? I’ve got a 2001 3.8 and It didn’t come with it when I bought not sure if it’s suppose to have it or not?
@@raymondborkowski4290 it does have a cruise control cable, i have a 2004 v6 manual & i just got rid of it because i never used it, i suppose most manual owners do the same & this is why yalls didnt have a cruise control cable. they all came with cruise control.
@@T-MillProductions for sure I was gonna get the accufab 70mm throttle body for 279 but know this now ima just grab a sr performance 70mm GT one for $102 and get the gt throttle cable

You FAILED to even mention anything about the factory throttle body having a provision for the Idle Air Control intake. The GT throttle body doesn't use that style, and as shown in your video leaves it open above the GT throttle body to suck in unfiltered air that could potentially damage internals. Road debris can get into the engine this way.
Yea sorry for the confusion, I realized that once I ran the car lol. I actually made a plate that goes in between the throttle body and the intake that covers the iac inlet and then I opened the throttle blade a little bit and so far it’s decent. Not perfect but decent
Do you have the same intake manifold? If you do then yea. And you just need one off any mechanical throttle body 4.6 2v motor. The only thing you gotta do I forgot to put in the video is block the little iac port on the top of the intake and then open the blade on the throttle body just a tad bit so it will idle corrextlg
The iAc port is the top of the throttle body where the intake manifold it’s a tiny rectangle and the blade just has a little screw that you can adjust to open and close it more or less
So I haven't actually finished the car yet to be honest. It's still up on jack stands. My plan is to block off the old intake inlet and then open the throttle blade a tiny bit and try that
No , I just used some jb quik weld putty and put over the hole and then opened the throttle blade a tiny bit and adjusted it with the car running and it works fine for me
