    I’ve owned my Lexus RX 450h for a couple of years with no issues whatsoever. Just basic maintenance and all is well. They are more pricey than regular Toyota’s but you enjoy the luxury, power and quiet ride. Retiring in two years, this RX will be my primary vehicle as well as my road trip vehicle for many more years to come.

    Let me say, the best SUV for seniors of which I am one, is Mazda, specifically the CX-5. It is a 5 star vehicle. Leading in safety, longevity and durability. The SkyActiv engine that gives you high compression for very good power and also great fuel economy. As a senior my wife and I own two Mazda’s. A 2014 Mazda3 that has 100,000 miles and a 2019 Mazda CX-5 that has 60,000 miles. We have never had a problem with either vehicle. The CX-5 is the signature model, meaning it is fully loaded. It has a turbo charged engine that gives you the power you need to pass another vehicle when needed. Mazda gives you pleasure when driving one. Drive one, you will see how solid they are built. They are built to provide great safety. Zoom Zoom!

    Oh I have a Kia Sportage 2020 bought in 2019. Absolutely no problems at all. And the dealership here, near Québec City is fantastic. The car has the room I need for my Berner (dog of course) and me ! I am 68, some knee problems and oh low back sometimes. The height of the seat is 100 % (168 cm tall ). Just love it. Oh last thing … I know that I the lights don’t blind anyone coming towards me. Oh I hate those new bright bright lights.

    As an older person with a long torso, broad shoulders, and arthritis, the Subaru Forester is the only one of these I can actually get in and out of without struggling. CRV, Highlander, and RX are painful (though the unmentioned Pilot is decent), and I simply don't trust long term reliability of Hyundai, Kia, or Buick.

    No mention of my favorite. I am on my second Mitsubishi Outlander. These have been the best vehicles I've ever owned. Period. When I researched SUV's for 2023, and compared all the features I could find. There were two things about MO that solved my quest. One is the 100,000 yr warranty. Two is the dealer's service. Those two things were missing on every other vehicle. I had the 2014 MO and as mentioned, the service was superb. That helped influence my purchase of the 2023. The only other 100,000 warranties are Hyundai and Kia and their dealerships are no where near me. So when choosing your vehicle. Please take into account the two things I mention.

    I’m 85 yrs old. I don’t want lane keeping alert. I want lane keeping automatic. I also want to have the seat in the back position when I get in and out and the correct position for my wife or me to drive. Adaptive cruise control is a must. A spare tire is a must. This reverier must not be or know any seniors.

    From a senior. A senior definitely doesn't need all these attention distracting gimmicks, like touch screen, USB ports, hundreds of proximity sensors that supposedly warn you before you hit something, but are more like a pain in butt. Give me a 2010 model or even an earlier one that does have all that expensive stuff that I don't need.

  • @Bennie-l9f
    @Bennie-l9f 4 месяца назад +1

    Price is always the catch. Seniors on retirement or like a sinking ship retirement does not cover price increases in anything 2.7% increase in retirement is totally wiped away in one necessary bill that we pay and not only is the 2.7 wiped away but more on top of that, that’s why we are like a sinking ship. Our head is not above water. It’s blow water and going deep for all the time while corporate. America becomes richer all the time and so do the local governments with property taxes. I know of numerous houses that had no improvements over the past three years And yet there assessments went up over $100,000 and local governments do not lower the rates enough to compensate for that. Local governments are reaping a windfall in additional funds and then they sloppily and hazardously spend it at Wil. If the billing is too much, they just say tighten your belt. Well, it’s time no it’s past time for people that take it upon themselves to manage our monies for them to tighten their belts instead of just throwing it to the wind a lot more can be said but I’m not gonna waste my time anymore with this when I can’t pay the bills any longer, I’ll just become homeless and my property can be free of charge to a immigrant that cross the Rio Grande

      I had a 97 Pontiac Bonneville that was very plush and a great ride and great gas mileage. But this car cost me a ton of money in repairs. First thing that went out was the rack and pinion power steering. The dealer had to order the part from Mexico $985. After that expensive repair the Plenum went out and the engine locked up. This was the 3800 series V6 after that the AC went out costing me another $750. I finally decided to sell it to my mother-in-law for one dollar.😅 yes the car was assembled in the USA, but most of the parts came from Mexico. For most of my life, I have been driving Toyotas and will never again buy homegrown vehicles.

      Japanese vehicles are the most reliable vehicles you can buy, not perfect but the most reliable. Consumer Reports magazine, a US magazine, recently rated the top five most reliable used vehicles and they are all Japanese. Lexus, Toyota, Acura, Honda and Mazda. These results are based on actual owners reporting problems with their vehicles to Consumer Reports Magazine. Plus they buy or lease some vehicles for longer term evaluations and rent vehicles from the manufacturers for testing. Have a look at one of their magazines on display at retail stores. They explain how they do their tests and evaluations. Hope this helps you understand better.
